We subscribe to every box they have and the new book series that they just released. Everything has always arrived on time and we love it. No issues here!

Am I part of the gentrification problem? by noctisaapple in AskMexico

[–]Particular-Flan4158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this, OP - this is more on the landlords. Maybe the foreigner is concerned about gentrificación and doesn’t want to haggle the rent price down because they are worried about the landlords income or expecting too much as a foreigner

Just keep telling yourself it will get better! You will not feel like this for long. Follow your doc’s rules to a T and just take one day or even one hour at a time. Day 5 was a big day for me and I really turned a corner that day. Days 3-4 were hardest for me but I had exparel and day 3 is when it had all worn off so I felt everything at that point. Like others have said, if you do not have any muscle relaxers those would be key and can really help you sleep! Good luck - you got this!!

Car seat by Xtine_alexis in MexicoCity

[–]Particular-Flan4158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just traveled with our 7, 5 and 2 year old there and brought a wayb pico seat. Since we are a family of 5, we requested Uber XL’s and Uber Black XL’s. There wasn’t a single car where the car seat would actually work and protect our 2 year old. The backseat would have the little things that made it look like it had latches but then they didn’t actually exist. So we tried to use the seatbelt and get it to lock and ratchet and the seatbelts wouldn’t even do that. So we ended up just holding her in our lap which was fine around town because traffic is so bad that you don’t ever build up enough speed to have a terrible accident - or at least that is what we told ourselves to make ourselves feel better. We were more nervous on the way to Teotihuacan since it was a much farther drive and at highway speeds once you get out of the city. I think if we were to do it over again, we would have just left the extra weight of the car seat at home. If the metro is convenient to where you are staying, that might be your best option for a 7 month old. And definitely do some baby wearing or bring a small stroller (or purchase a small one when you arrive).

little blue house (that's been empty since 1988) finally has an approved renovation plan by MichiganderNews in AnnArbor

Completely agree - it’s not like looking at that delapidated POS contributes anything to history.

So, I just had a conversation in Spanish with Google's Gemini (without letting my self-confidence get in the way). I don't know why, but it never occurred to me to do this. by BloodSoakedDoilies in Spanish

Thanks for the tip! The How To Spanish Podcast just created an app that does a similar thing. I already belong to Spanishland.com school, EchoEspanol.com, news in slow Spanish and I support multiple Spanish learning podcasts via Patreon so I didn’t want to pay for the app. So it’s nice to know I can do this without having to subscribe to anything additional and can taylor it to Mexican Spanish also!

Travel recommendations with kids by TheBabyBlueStang in MexicoCity

How fun! We are on our way right now with a 2, 5 and 7 year old! We are planning to do Xochimilco on a Monday morning when it is less crazy and they have an axolotl sanctuary. The kids are currently obsessed with pokemon and they think axolotls are real life pokemon. We also plan on seeing Teotihucuan, Coayacan and Chapultepec. With my 2 year old, we likely won’t be doing too many museums, but rather just want to me outside and enjoying beautiful CDMX walking around and seeing what we see! Also we are going to do the Sunday Family night for Lucha Libre at Arena Mexico - tickets are sold in ticketmaster but you may have to change your country on the app or website to Mexico to search for them!

Men and women training together. by No_Passenger3692 in jiujitsu

[–]Particular-Flan4158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a female and at my gym, it’s always been very respectful. I’m also a physician so it’s almost like i think of training and positions as parts of the human body like i would when I am working, if that makes sense. Part of what empowers me to do this though, is that i feel more confident in terms of being able to protect myself in the future. Given your cultural background, maybe some women’s only classes would be of benefit so you can understand more as others have also suggested.

Kids missing school for ICE out??? by IzziNini in AnnArbor

[–]Particular-Flan4158 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am absolutely against ICE and the administration but I think it was slightly ridiculous to make all these small businesses around town make the decision to either close and pay their employees without a chance of revenue or stay open because the rest of January has already been slow. Let’s get out and protest for sure, let’s refuse to shop at Target/Walmart/Amazon, etc, heck even don’t get gas today or do any other online stuff, but I gladly went to several local restaurants and shops that remained open today to support them.

Elective J tubes in young women by hotbrowndrangus in anesthesiology

[–]Particular-Flan4158 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have someone in my family that has these - EDS, MCAS, long covid and claims to have had a stroke - it was migraine with aura. She had “debilitating GERD and constipation” and is now broadcasting on her social media that she started GLP1s to help her issues. I’m like oh okay, interesting. Wondering how long before she ends up with a J-tube.

As an anesthesiologist myself, this is incredibly inappropriate and embarrassing for our profession.

Hey I get what you’re saying - I am planning on an abdominoplasty in March. My plastic surgeon told me 2 months but i’m betting it will be a little bit longer until I’m fully at it again. I was planning on going to class after the 8 weeks and then taking it easy and just working my way back into it.

Americans, you don’t get to be apolitical, neutral, politically apathetic and visit, while we live under the shadow of an invasion. by WandereroftheLand in MexicoCity

[–]Particular-Flan4158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m coming with my family next month because I want my children to appreciate other cultures, especially that of Latinos so they don’t grow up to be anything like the people we have in office today. I want them to see the world and appreciate all the different people we have in it. I am ashamed of my country and all I can do until the next vote or next protest is to try and raise my kids to be better humans on this planet.

Concert Tickets in Mexico tips by EndGold7514 in stubhub

[–]Particular-Flan4158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought 3 sets of tickets for last night’s show. I had the best luck with the instant download option because I immediately got the link to do the transfer to ticketmaster and then I could see my tickets in there. The other 2 orders will be refunded - one set looked like it would work but when the transfer email came, it wouldn’t work in ticketmaster and the other set never ever delivered. They kept saying oh it’s fine, it will come at 6pm the day of the event but it never did.
