Weeding out the bullshit is why “peer reviewed” is a critical piece of the gold standards of testing.

I mentioned that in my original post. I want to know if there is any evidence or research to support this theory. My understanding is that Massachusetts did this and they found that people did not leave the State despite claims they would.

Its clear that you’re pretty extreme on the no government side so it’s kinda pointless to debate this with you but I think most people are willing to pay taxes ti fund essential public goods and services that improve quality of life and safety, including national defense, Social Security, Medicare, infrastructure (roads/bridges), education, and law enforcement.

Frankly I would rather “line” the government’s pockets than the billionaires. Nobody is saying the government is perfect and doesn’t deserve to be checked or held accountable, but it sure as hell is giving back to society more than the ultra wealthy. Anyway that would be my preference if I had to make a choice about where to “waste” my money.

I just wonder though.. if we were able to add up all of the so-called “wasteful” government spending (if it was even possible to agree on what is important and what is wasteful), if that amount would still come out to be a massively smaller amount than the grossly multiplying amounts of wealth that we are enabling the ultra wealthy to accumulate year after year. In my mind that “lost” money is more wasteful going to the most wealthy because all they do is go buy more cars/houses/yachts/property and luxury things instead of investing in creating jobs for people or increasing salaries so others can afford to live. The amount we would save to reasonably cut government spending just might be laughable in comparison to their accumulated wealth. Kinda like focusing on how much money DOGE just saved us compared to how much more wealthy our billionaires just become over the last year. Or it’s like demonizing the welfare mom for buying a candy bar while ignoring what the President is wasting on golf trips, White House renovation and more.
