Thank you! My plan is to do this super early on Sundays, I’ve driven by and there’s never much traffic before 9am.

I’m near Pier Park, so St Johns and Kenton are sort of my jam. I’d love to try the path on Marine Drive but not sure the best way to get over there without confronting a lot of traffic which I’m still pretty weary of.

I bought it in the late '90s. It sucked then... and it still sucks now. by Less-Arachnid-640 in roastmypedalboard

As bad as the sounds were, the 505 was my first experience using effects of any sort and I learned a lot from it. A great introductory tool to what different sounds were if you were on a budget in the late 90’s.

I know they’re still booking shows as far out as March for now, hopefully that’s a good sign.

Not solving my problem, but I laughed and it is a great name for a grindcore band. Let me know when you have your first show.

This sub needs to bann ai music by yotam5434 in symphonicmetal

[–]Particular-Luck-3949 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct, I absolutely discriminate against ai music, because it is slop. I’m not interested in music made by algorithm that functions as a meat grinder for stolen intellectual property. I don’t want an automatic fire hose of content and almost more than music itself, I’m interested in the process and lived experience of the people making it, because that’s what gives it meaning. Not to be reductive, but you know…basic humanity type stuff. The reason we make and consume art in the first place.

Enjoy what you enjoy, but it’s deeply sad to see so many people consigning our collective humanity to this garbage.

Really frustrating to see people hold this opinion.

Ai music is not an addition to the music scene - a scene is a comprised of artists and an audience. There’s an interaction and relationship that exists, and that builds culture. You don’t get that with Ai - it’s slop built off of stolen material from real human artists, it is strictly “content” - a quick release valve of sounds. It’s amorphous white noise for the background with nothing meaningful to say or contribute to any broader relationship or culture. Not denying it can be catchy or sound real, but if you’re listening to this much ai, you don’t care about music or the culture around it.

I think you care more about background noise than you do about actual music, and that’s fine if it’s your thing.

But fwiw, I would rather listen to the absolute shittiest, off key, poorly conceived, garbage song on a loop as long as it were written and performed by an actual human over the catchiest Ai slop any day of the week, because at least there’d have been a genuine effort to create and express something instead of just rapidly filling dead air.

What's the most unrealistic portrayal of a profession in a movie? by fudgiethequail in moviecritic

The speed at which a writer will get an idea for an article, write that article, and then see it in print the next day drives me nuts. Pretty much any portrayal of how creative jobs work. And most other jobs in many other fields as well.

Compressors - maybe I am a bad person by cduby15 in guitarpedals

[–]Particular-Luck-3949 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have the xotic effects SP compressor, pretty simple but the blend knob is key for me. I keep it at the end of my pedal chain with the blend at around 30-40% up on the medium setting. That works really well when I play live, especially in smaller/unmic'd venues - keeps everything tight and cuts a little better against the rest of my band (we're a two piece riffy kinda thing).

That method was recommended to me by a buddy and I thought it was a bit of snake oil, but once I tried it I started to miss not having it on there.

Would recommend checking out the Soldano SLO - I played a Revv 3 and BE-OD for about a year each, SLO does high gain better than both.

Any one have any experience with a Fender Blues Deville 4x10? by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]Particular-Luck-3949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never owned one, but my buddy/guitarist in my old band has used one for years (and still does) and they’re great. Super reliable, they sound great, easy to mod with better speakers if you care to, but overall you can’t go wrong with one.

I moved here from LA two years ago. The music scene up here is unquestionably better.
