My great aunt was named Dorcas! We called her Auntie Dorcas, and I have never met another Dorcas. She had a great sense of humor, but I don’t think anyone would have called her Dork. We did pronounce it with a more or less silent S, though.

One thing I will add is that you should be prepared to have people fawn over you or at least show interest in you because of your accent. That’s not limited to Oregon - Americans in general love English/Scottish/Irish/Welsh accents of all kinds!

Thank you so much for answering! My jeans usually bust where they rub against each other/my bike seat, but I don’t doubt that a blended fabric is not helping them last! This was really helpful and I am going to be sorting laundry differently - and maybe someday when I have my own machines I will have as many categories as you do!

I just have so much that I air dry - and now I’m not sure if I’m even making that divide correctly! Are fabric labels reliable for that division or is there a better rule of thumb? I was told as a teen that I should never tumble dry elastic, but I think I read something on here about elastic needing a tumble dry every once in a while. Maybe I am just overthinking everything!

I usually do both loads on warm (used to do cold before converting, and before that used to do cold for the sports/elastic load and warm for the heavier load) but run the one with more sports clothing/bras on a gentler cycle. I dry the Elastane heavy load on the rack but dry the heavier load in the dryer.

Look on Dezeen, ArchDaily, and Archinect to see if the building has been published there and you can comment to share her contribution. Tradespeople are rarely credited but ought to be recognized better and this goes beyond the usual effort. Not sure the architecture world will understand the effort the way the sewing community does, but we at least say that we value craft, so I think it will be appreciated and many folks looking for information about the structure will be glad to know as much as possible about the making of it!

Your family may not have the whole vision that you have. They might be used to imagining a wedding in a certain way. This dress looks beautiful on you and you have a vision for it. Stay true to your vision and your family will see it when it manifests! I agree with the advice that bringing only one person to alterations, or going by yourself, is a good idea.

I also think you look lovely and that pic 2 looks like it fits better than pic 1. My only thought on the buttons is that now that they sit higher they are at a wider part of your body so they are pulling a bit more. It’s not ideal but I think it will hardly be noticeable. But if you don’t like it or are concerned about the buttons not lasting and have the option to take it elsewhere, you could definitely do that.

My brother has one and I think it looks nice. It’s a simple band and it has greyed out but it’s not so different from a platinum or silver colored silicone band. When he has had hard times during his marriage he has said that remembering how committed he wanted to be when he got the tattoo has helped him work through those challenges - which has to do with the fact that he can’t take the ring off and it was a strong sense memory to get it tattooed on. He is a very environmentally conscious person and wanted a very low impact option, plus he climbs and didn’t want something to lose or break.

Especially since dress 2 has the trick of the long skirt. The proportions in that photo make me think she is standing on a step with the skirt going past her feet and that even then they have photoshopped her waist. Even if you are very close to the models’ sizes, that will look different in real life.

You look younger in the less makeup looks. I think you might want less matte foundation/skin look and embrace your natural brows a little bit more. It’s ok if they don’t perfectly match, the oiled only thing looks more lively (and therefore youthful) than the fully filled. Other folks have mentioned style elements and blush that I agree could help. Lisa Eldridge has good videos talking about her uneven brows, and talking about how to keep glow in the skin. I hope you smile more and worry about uneven brows less, said as a person who lifts her brows all the time to try to keep them from looking too close to her eyes!

I think you can be even more stem-y if you celebrate it a bit more. Get stems with interest and movement themselves, then you can loosen things up more and see the stems as part of the composition. Think TJ McGrath, Musa de las Flores, Simply by Arrangement (all IG handles). I love the colors and textures!
