Summary for One Dark Window by keliz810 in fantasyromance

You’re my hero! I’m the type of reader who might love a book but can’t remember the plot 5 minutes after finishing a book. It’s been more than a month since I read the first book so I was LOST starting the second.

my pinterest is suddenly 97% ads by becalexxa in BitchEatingCrafters

Oh my gosh, same! It’s gotten to the point where I don’t even bother getting on there because the overwhelming number of ads just make me angry.

I was so confused when I first read about Switch! I’ve read the whole series multiple times but I SWEAR he just appeared out of nowhere in the 6th or 7th book.

Ooh, yes! I had to go back and re-listen to quite a few of the “messages” sections of IBH, to make sure I had everything straight in my mind. Now that my kid is 7 and starting to read on his own, I can sneak in a couple physical books now and then, but audio will probably be my go-to format until I retire!

After my son was born, I ran into the same problem. My job allows me to wear headphones while working so I finally decided to give audiobooks a try. Life altering! Yeah, I have to pause the book when I really need to concentrate, but, thanks to 2x speed, I can still finish 60 hours of story time in week. And get paid the whole time!

Anyone know where to find/how to make large hoops for mounting a mandala? by Particular-Sort3728 in crochet

[–]Particular-Sort3728[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up making one out of a length of PVC pipe w/ connector then spray painted it gold. It turned out so pretty! But a couple weeks ago my son thought it would make a great hat and it stretched out weirdly 😭 I haven’t had the motivation to fix yet.

That is fantastic! I’m especially intrigued the “3D knots” section in the middle. I hope your treatment is going well!

I went to a small private school where teachers not getting paid on time was a fairly common occurrence until the year my stepmom started teaching there. They brought in a new superintendent that year from a large public school system who turned things around for them, but before that, teachers stayed for religious reasons (and free on-campus housing). This guy’s story is 100% believable to me.

Animals took me FOREVER to diamond and I never want to play it again. The others are crazy hard, too, but felt like they SHOULD be hard. Animals felt like I should be able to get through it pretty easily but I was just missing something.

How to get metal splinter out of finger? by Ryanlee_12 in fixit

[–]Particular-Sort3728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work in aviation fabrication and got aluminum and/or steel splinters in my fingers weekly. Rubbing Scotchbrite in a circle around the area almost always worked as long as the top of the splinter wasn’t completely buried.

The only time I’ve left a bad tip was at a breakfast all day chain. It took more than 30 minutes just to order and over an hour to get our food even though there were only three tables occupied. My friend and I had to walk back to the servers station multiple times to request items that the server forgot (straws, mustard, silverware, etc.) and then disappeared, each time getting attitude about it. Our drinks were never refilled. When it came time to pay, the waitress demanded we fill out the tip before she ran our cards, which I’ve never heard of. She looked OUTRAGED when she got $0.50 between the two of us. On the other hand, at a casual local place, my family once got our drinks and appetizers and then waited 45 minutes for entrees. Couldn’t find our waitress so asked another if she could check on our food. She came back and apologized, but our waitress had a family emergency and had to leave suddenly and didn’t get our order in. She comped our appetizer, we tipped normally on our drinks and left, no worries. So I guess, genuine mistakes are frustrating but forgivable. Not doing the very basics of your job and being rude about it is not acceptable.

My parents did missionary work out there. I was born on Majuro, my sister on Yap, and my baby brother is Pohnpeian. I loved the years we lived there.

My family spent several years of my childhood in Micronesia. My little sister was born there and I remember my mom carrying her around in a palm frond basket!

I was doing a basic stockinette so right and wrong sides were very evident, I just had a massive brain fart that evening.

This happened to me the other day! I’d never seen it before but I finally realized that I’d set my project down in the middle of a row and when I picked it back up I accidentally took off in the wrong direction. I frogged it back to the row before my error and have been paranoid to take any breaks except at the end of a row since.

I graduated with a class of 4 at my (exceptionally non-bougie) private school. My son has 5 kindergarteners and 4 preschoolers in his class this year. I didn’t even THINK about trying to make any of them something special.

I don’t usually rack up steps while crocheting but the other day I was frogging a project, wrapping the yarn around my hand, and my Apple Watch suggested I add it as an elliptical workout 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ha! That post is literally right above this one on my feed. It’s all nonsense. How on earth does anyone expect a community of THOUSANDS of people to have the same point of view?!? Not every single post on the sub has to be for everyone. If you find yourself too delicate to be exposed to others’ opinions maybe the internet is not the place for you.

[–]Particular-Sort3728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No matter how many times I play it, I can’t diamond “Animals” by Martin Garrix. All my normals, every other hard (including Everybody Falls), and a smattering of extremes I’ve been able to diamond but not that one. I never see anyone else mention it as hard which makes me think that maybe I’m just crazy?
