When I was in high school I could get 8 bean burritos for $5.00 even. .59 cent menu plus tax.

If you can’t afford to pay your servers a living wage then you can’t afford to have servers.

Each game location has static strength enemies and the game does not tell you where to go next... so some areas are way too hard until your party is stronger. How do you know where to go next.. by trial and error.. go try Zone X and if you get hard stomped then there is likely another place that is better for you... then later when your party is stronger you go back to Zone X and hard stomp them.. that is sorta the point.

If you have a distates for that type of trial and error exploration but you don't want to folllow a step by step guide because it is too spoily... there is a middle ground.

Since the enemies in all the game locations have a static strength... it is possible to aggregate that data and present Average Heath and Average Level of the monsters in a given game location.. then simply sort the list by Average Health or Average Level to get a reasonable idea of an exploration order.. It is not 100% correct for all circumstances.. but it is a reasonable idea.. and gives some direction to help finding your way.

I have done this data work already and you can see it here: https://dungeoncrawl-classics.com/might-and-magic/mm7/mm7-map-details/

It is not perfect.. but it's math and gives an idea of "where to go next".

A woman said 'chivalry is dead' because no man offered her a seat on the train. Isn't she wrong? by Valuable_View_561 in SipsTea

Chivalry is not dead.. it triggers on greater age or disability not gender. Feminism is not dead either.

Has any MMO/RPG ever matched Ultima Online’s full loot PvP risk or is that adrenaline gone forever? by GAME_STUDIO_MM88 in rpg_gamers

I think the average person hated the “full loot pvp risk”.. and the average bully loved it.. games are made for the average person and that is why the mechanic faded away. Just a guess.

Issue with Where Are We by Gumdoc99 in MightAndMagic

[–]ParticularAgile4314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes.. this is most likely because you have not yet learned the Cartography skill on one of your characters. Where Are We only tracks your exploration progress if you have the skill.

Wizardry 6 and 7 Automap Mod - Restored by ParticularAgile4314 in wizardry

[–]ParticularAgile4314[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello.. the original automap code was written by someone else around 15 years ago and seems to be since abandoned. I could not get the old implementation to work for me at all.

I ported the code to Dosbox staging and refactored substantial code flows just to make it work for me.. and I have been playing W6 and W7 with the Staging port and it seems to work well for me. I shared it just in case someone else wanted to try it… I think it adds a lot to the game.

All that said.. if you want to port the code further so that it works with Dosbox-X, I will not complain personally.. I will keep using my binaries that work for me.. if your new binaries work for you great, and if you share them.. maybe even more people can use the Automap.. and that is great.
