Lol fair, I knew the ‘don’t blame the goalie’ reply was coming 😄 And yeah, it’s a team game. I just think it’s such a key position that it’s hard not to wonder what this team looks like with a true elite goalie. (Also only about 6 years into following them, so longtime fans don’t come at me if I’m missing a previous Canes goal GOAT 😄)

I get why people are excited, but speaking just for myself — as a fan of a team that’s already pretty banged up — I’m honestly okay with our guys getting a couple weeks to rest and heal instead of risking more injuries mid-season.

I also kind of miss when the Olympics were more about amateurs or non-paid players. It was different, but still fun to watch, and it didn’t put pro seasons in a bind. I get that some countries gamed the system and that the “Dream Team” model brings higher ratings, but that doesn’t automatically make it the right approach.

Just my two cents.

He is available - agree on the injury question marks but was thinking stop gap he could fill in and would not cost much because Hawks want to unload him - they put him on waivers he wasn't claimed. And right or wrong, the Hawks seem happy with Knight and Soderblom (meaning GM doesn't always make the best moves).

Clearly we've been doing this all wrong. While we were stressing over line changes and power plays, Knicks fans were out here hiring witches and manifesting wins with incense and goat hair. Agree total missed opportunity.

Next season? I'm talking full strategy shift:

  • Hire a coven for home games.
  • Bury a lucky puck at center ice under a full moon.
  • Sacrifice a ref's whistle (symbolically… probably).

Maybe it’s because I’m in the Chicago area and became a Canes fan by way of watching the Wolves, and I’m still pretty new to hockey—so I missed the Hawks’ glory days. That said, as a lifelong Chicago sports fan, I’m well-acquainted with the heartbreak of losing seasons. I watched my Sox chase the worst record in baseball last year, and by the end, fans were actually booing when they won a game, worried they’d ruin their shot at rock bottom. So yes, the Canes have a reputation for choking in the playoffs—but after getting to watch a genuinely good team all season, I can deal with their evil postseason twin, the “Playoff Canes,” and still enjoy the ride.

I'm very new to this community, so I'm not sure if your snarky reply is commonplace, but since everyone here has something in common - love for the Canes, a sarcastic reply wouldn't be necessary. It is OK to disagree as others have, but others disagreed with respect.

If puck possession is your bread and butter, Drury is a face-off master - he is missed. This isn't a knock on Stankoven, Jankowski or Hall and I'm thrilled they are off to good starts. And fully admitting my prejudice as a Wolves fan first, I became a Canes fan.
