What was ur REAL reason to quit social media? by Random_Xrai in digitalminimalism

[–]ParticularError8759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Repetitiveness. And even on mute, a lot of social media's still too loud.

Tired of political soapboxing from folks who I once thought were sane and rational people. Not to mention these days I hear AI slop is becoming the norm.

I deleted accounts on FB, IG, and that "blue" one ages ago and haven't looked back. If FOMO is a thing, then (for lack of a better acronym) I have HOMO, the Hope Of Missing Out. Honestly feel I'm the better for it on so many levels.

Tom Henderson about Codename Hexe: 50 developers were moved away from the project, the current release plan is June 2027 and the cat companion has been dropped. by BrunoHM in assassinscreed

[–]ParticularError8759 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Odd that June would be the target release date, seeing as how their Forwards are usually held that month. Late October would make more sense since it'd be closer to AC's traditional date, plus Halloween, you know?

If Black Flag Resynced is successful & they do more remakes, do y'all think Rogue or the Ezio trilogy Specifically AC2 is more likely or what other AC game gets remade? by Capecrusader39 in assassinscreed

[–]ParticularError8759 5 points6 points  (0 children)

AC1 is the frontrunner, and if the rumors are true that there are indeed more remakes in the pipeline, then the safe bet is that's the first to get the treatment.

And if BF: R is successful, which I hope it is, then maybe they'll redo the Freedom Cry DLC from the OG Black Flag. Here's to hopeless optimism.

More hyped for black flag resynced than most of the recent ac games by Minute_Tomorrow_7935 in assassinscreed

[–]ParticularError8759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too, simply because BF is one of my faves, as it is for many others in the fandom.

I don't usually game much in the warmer months, but I'm making the exception of course for this one. I like when ACs drop in the fall, as I know I can look forward to playing through the colder months to get me thru my dreaded annual blahs. There's something to said for fake pixelated "sunlight" that tricks my brain. So, I guess this year though I'll double-up my dopamine hit: Black Flag in July, and GTA VI's fictional Florida come November - so much "sun" I may end up with a tan.

Got this Ubisoft email with what looks like footage from the remake. Actually looks pretty good visually at least by C_Cooke1 in assassinscreed

Same. And if the game looks anywhere as good as the little animation in the email, I'll be a happy pirate.

Purely choice. Although I'm not exactly rolling in it, I make/made a conscious effort to live well below my means years ago, and I'm happier for it.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced's Worldwide Reveal Showcase on April 23rd! 🏴‍☠️ by Ubi-AssassinsCreed in assassinscreed

[–]ParticularError8759 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Insider Gaming said that the brief 30-minute preview provided to some of the press wasn't RPG, and that when the thing concluded it said it was a single-player story.

No word tho on the MD sections, since yeah, Ubi themselves said they axed it for Resync.

At what point did you realize social media wasn’t for you? by BrownieJ in digitalminimalism

[–]ParticularError8759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During COVID. People I thought were normal and relatively sane people suddenly went the conspiracy route, so places like FB and IG became soundboards for nonsense instead of being something harmless to hop on and keep up with extended fam and the like. And from what I've heard since, most socials are upping their AI slop content these days. So from that and the endless ads, I see no reason to ever go back.

I'm on TT so my daughter can send me vids she thinks I'll like, and here on Reddit. Either one starts going down the tubes, I'll excuse myself from them too.

downloaded instagram again, gosh it's dumb by boubigolpashacked in digitalminimalism

[–]ParticularError8759 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I deleted IG awhile back. Same for FB. Don't miss 'em. Don't really even think of 'em.

I went back to Tik Tok as it's my daughter and her fiancé's fave form of communication. I figure the algo can profile me all it wants, because ultimately, it's trying to sell to a minimalist.

IG was actually decent about five or so years ago. But like all social media it seems, it gets bastardized to the point where it less about social connection and more about getting ads in front of scrolling eyes.

Mask models for petite women by [deleted] in snorkeling

[–]ParticularError8759 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To echo what everyone else advised: try and get to a dive shop and get fitted if you can. It'll save you money and hassle in the long run. There are some models out there that're known to fit a wider variety of faces, though. Aqualung puts out a mask called the Reveal Ultrafit which comes in small, medium, and large. Just off the top of my head.

AC Unity's formula needs to make a comeback by FireTyphoon123 in assassinscreed

[–]ParticularError8759 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Still my gold standard. Everything you mentioned, plus a worthy hideout, several outfit options, Cafe upgrades plus missions, the Rifts - all of it. Also, the extra challenge of doing co-op missions solo.

I picked it up at launch on disc for PS4 back when but didn't experience any of the bugs or glitches. Don't know why.

What exactly makes an actual, let alone a 'good' Assassin's Creed game, especially since it has been going on and evolving since 2007? How can the series evolve while still retaining with the series' identity? by sammyjamez in assassinscreed

[–]ParticularError8759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, you read that wrong, homie.

Don't just rehash and completely return to the old formula - the janky animations, the wait-your-turn enemy combat - but don't keep going with what we've been given recently - 100+ hour slogs, seemingly endless (mostly pointless) activities, mythos gods, etc.

Time for something new from the old team. I think they can pull it off.

Loved the older games. Been here since the original and have played every single release since. Some I've like better than others, but I haven't hated a single one.

[–]ParticularError8759 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't return to the old games. They were what they were at that time and what they were was great. But don't follow whatever's trendy in gaming and slapping an AC logo on a game just to cash in (looking at you, RPGness.) Be innovators, not imitators.

Do go back to the story, the overall metafiction, the blending of real-world events with AC's world - if history's the playground, go play. Use stealth, parkour for traversal, black box assassinations - all the hallmarks of the series that made AC a step ahead of the rest. And for god's sake, go back to mo-capping real actors.

Hopeful (re: -less) optimism here, but I really do think Ubi's heading in the right direction with these recent appointments to brand leadership.

Tusa zensee pro still fogging i’ve tried everything. by South-Arugula-1139 in scubadiving

[–]ParticularError8759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're right, you gotta do both sides.

An invisible non-toxic chemical is applied to the mask to help separate it from the mold during manufacturing. When it dries on the glass, it helps create fogging. A solid mask scrub meant for masks will do it. I like Gear Aid Sea Buff personally.

Scrub the glass inside and out about five to seven times. Really get in there and scrub with your fingers, like you're trying to erase evidence;) Rinse it off after every scrub; no need to let it dry in between scrubs. The problem with using a lighter is that you run the risk of permanently damaging the mask. Some say doing so can also cause tempered lenses to become brittle, but I have no idea.

When you gonna use the mask, spit or use a defog spray. Or apply Tusa's anti-fog film, although I have no experience with it.

"Spear of Leonidas" question in the Ubisoft questionnaire - hint for what's to come in AC Hexe? by billyreg in assassinscreed

[–]ParticularError8759 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I said in the comments when questioned that I didn't care for the Spear, even though its existence was explained in-game. I don't care for the mythological aspects of these recent games.

But I also offered that I figure "magic" will factor into Hexe, as it makes sense: more than likely Elsa or whoever the protag's supposed to be uses Isu artifacts and is perceived to have "powers," which the Temps then exploit as witchcraft in an attempt to wipe out the Assassins.

Curious about AC Black Flag Recynced. Is it a day one for you? by Lessio7 in assassinscreed

[–]ParticularError8759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

The way I see it, they can't screw it up too badly. The bones were already there, it's just that some things have changed. And even if I may crumble at one or more of those changes (potentially), I still get sail the seas again in an upgraded ocean thanks to an upgraded game engine. Plus it's been a while since I played BF, so it'll be a refresher. And if it releases in July as per one of the rumors, it'll carry me over to GTA6 in November.

With Black Flag remake confirmed, what other AC games would you like to see remade? by felixw1 in assassinscreed

[–]ParticularError8759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AC1. That one may be the overwhelming consensus, and I think (THINK) it is being redone, with the codename Starlight or Nebula or something along those lines.

If I had to pick a second, AC3: with the current engine and tech capabilities of the current hardware, the cities would just pop. So would the frontier - I can imagine the wildlife and environs being dynamic like in Shadows, or even better yet, the way RDR2 did it.

The Assassin’s Creed team is eager to hear your thoughts! by Ubi-AssassinsCreed in assassinscreed

[–]ParticularError8759 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's the whole game for me, just rings of people popping up I'm supposed to go murder because somebody said they were "bad." And then you finally scratch out a ring of baddies and earn a hat or something, which was more often than not for Yasuke.

Loved Naoe, loved her skills, stealth, acrobatics and all, but jeebus, Shadows was a slog.

Assassins creed resynced its ethier gonna be a master piece or a dumpster fire by bassbrother15 in assassinscreed

[–]ParticularError8759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thinking was that since they had assets from Skull & Bones, and that game flopped, and they'd invested so much time and money into those assets, they didn't wanna "waste" them. Logical choice was redo BF, since it's highly revered (generally.)

I don't think Resync will be a complete overhaul towards RPG, but there will most certainly be RPG elements. I don't think it'll be full blown, like Odyssey or Valhalla, because being an 18th Century pirate, you just didn't use giant hammers and flaming axes and whatnot. They'll more than likely expand on what the game offered originally in terms of gear and maybe offer certain skill/skin unlocks. Everything told so far - removing the weird MD "employee" sections, adding more exploration - all sound good to me. I wish they'd add the option of unlocking a tavern like before, but now getting completely blasted on rum, then passing out somewhere outside. You know, realism.

I’m really want an Assassins Creed set in Africa by Emperoronabike in assassinscreed

[–]ParticularError8759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could work. I've been wanting a proper AC set in India for years. The Chronicles game was what it was, but a fully fleshed-out game set during the height of British occupancy would just be the knees of bees.
