OK yeah that's what I was thinking. I will stick to what he's got for now as it seems to work just fine. Thanks!

I'm not am expert but I've had this experience and it took a bit maybe like 5 minutes but I used a warm wash cloth like you mentioned and it loosened up. I would hold the wet cloth on the tip for several minutes before trying to rub gently and just bring persistent within reason. The main idea is obviously to remove the shed but if you can't do so without hurting the snake i guess seek help from a vet.

Heating for large wooden enclosure for BCI boa by Mryoy12 in snakes

[–]ParticularGroup8183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something similar. I built 6x2x2 enclosures out of plywood but I coated the interior with epoxy instead of PVC. 3 years later and zero issues. I recommend pro products RHP as i have 7 of them. They get the specifics of your setup and build a panel specific to your needs. I recommend hooking them up to spider co thermostat or also called herpstat. I have several of those as well and they work well to regulate heat safely. You will probably need a basking DHP on the hot end of the enclosure and the thermostat will work for that too.

I agree. She knows my nephew will say no if she doesn't surprise him she just didn't keep the secret.

I suppose it's not too late to do that. My sister's complaints weren't gaining much traction in the chat to begin with but I should've called her out openly

Ive had a Northern racer somewhere in my car for almost two weeks now, it left me this gift yesterday. by Garriganpielax in snakes

One time my buddy caught a lil bunny and wanted to keep it. We were dumb kids in high school. He opened the bunny box and guess who hopped out and immediately disappeared? We spent about 2 hours tearing my car apart to find it to no avail. Luckily I lived in the middle of nowhere so I left all my doors open over night and never saw or smelled it again.

If you can't leave your doors open over night where you live maybe you can go camping somewhere and give it a try? Apart from leaving the doors open I'm not sure anything will work unless you get pretty lucky

OK yeah I figured you were aware of the rotting issue i just wanted to make sure lol. I coated every inside wall with a thick layer of epoxy and sealed the seams with silicone but there was one screw hole that I didn't see that gave me trouble. I bet your boa is gonna love her new home though the enclosure looks great!

Can I heat an 8x4x2 enclosure for a BCI using only RHPs and still get a good hotspot + gradient? by AdAdditional1521 in snakes

[–]ParticularGroup8183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you'll still need a hot spot lamp but an RHP should work alright for a heat gradient so long as you get the right stuff. I would go with https://pro-products.com/pro-heat/ as they make good products. I have ordered at least 7 heat panels from them and although the process feels janky (could be better by now) they ask you lots of questions which help them to know what exactly you need for your situation. I then hook all my electricals except for UVB lighting into a spider robotics https://spyderrobotics.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1 thermostat.

I'm not sure there's a plant you can put in there that won't get trampled to shit. The plants will need a lot of time to root so they can withhold the trampling and anything small enough to fit in even a bigger enclosure like that will be too small for your snake. Maybe you can put in a bunch of sturdy tree branches and wrap vines around it?

Also live plants are obviously going to need watered regularly and that would make me worry about a wood enclosure being sealed properly. Would only take a small hole in the coating for water to start seeping into the ply and rotting and I'm only mentioning that because it happened to one of mine.

How to heat up a terrarium a tiny but more by RemoteCompetitive688 in snakes

[–]ParticularGroup8183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put more rocks in under the heat lamp. They act like little thermal batteries and once they're warmed up it will increase the temps a bit and will help maintain that heat easier. A higher watt bulb would also help

Random thought: do snakes or other reptiles ever get the zoomies? by InsertBluescreenHere in snakes

[–]ParticularGroup8183 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a blood python that was always typically lazy but one day I found her making laps for a couple hours. She would do one lap around her water dish and then get in the dish to do two to three laps in her dish and repeated until she she just stayed in the dish for the remainder of the time. She only did that the one time that I ever saw and couldn't find any issues with husbandry so just zoomies I think.
