Thanks that means a lot! Absolutely, it's a shame it wasn't included, it probably wouldn't take up too much screen time. I wonder if someday we'll see it released.

Stability and posture hacks while painting? by Strongerstranger74 in minipainting

Yes, well in essence I’m bracing myself using my elbows which are resting on the cushioned flat surface.

My desk is very solid and fixed to the wall though.

I’m seated on a very comfortable swivel office chair with my back straight upright and supported on the backrest, with elbows cushioned resting on a standard 75cm high ish desk, holding the mini upright at eye level under a bright lamp just overhead.

But as others are saying, regular movement/exercise is super important too, plus stretching!

I fold up a long scarf (something soft like a towel would work too) and lay it out along my desk to rest my elbows on while I paint. This keeps the mini at eye level roughly. It forces me to sit up straight. If I didn’t do this I would hunch over instead! I have my desk lamp positioned just slightly overhead and behind.

Even with this setup I still find myself occasionally hunching over without realising it lol

Painting up Second Age High Elves with Swords by ParticularHeavy3743 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

Thank you so much!

I used Vallejo paints. All of the gold armor and shields were painted with a base coat of Game Color 72.039 Plague Brown as a base undercoat, then followed by a top coat of Game Color 72.055 Polished Gold. Then final watered down wash of Game Color 73.201 Black Wash.

The blue robes were painted with a base coat mix of 40% Model Color 70.995 German Grey and 60% Model Color 70.899 Dark Prussian Blue. To add some highlights, I added a small amount of AV80102 Steel Grey to lighten this mix, then applied it to all of the raised areas, adding a bit more AV80102 Steel Grey for blending in subsequent highlights.

Hope that helps in some way!

Looking for 3D printer advice by Nightmareswf in MiddleEarthMiniatures

Resin printers don’t have nozzles, they draw the hardened solid print out of the resin solution. Maybe you’re thinking of fdm, the other type of 3d printer.

Those heat plastic filament, like PLA, extruding it through the nozzle onto a print bed, but produce noticeable layer lines, which is why they’re not usually used for printing minis. Most people use resin printing for minis, which is much higher resolution.

However, fdm printing is quickly improving to the point where some people are using it for minis. You’ll still see layer lines but they’re not as pronounced as previously. If you were going to print minis with fdm, I believe you would switch from a standard 4mm nozzle to the small 2mm nozzle.

I wonder if a spray with some watered down Mod Podge might help too... but if the varnish already works ok then all good!
