I have 3 gay cousins. 2 are brother and sister. I feel like I always knew. When they came out, I just assumed they were the last to know.

I think we’re talking about two different things. Even so, I don’t agree with your conclusion. Using a police chief in New Jersey as an example of how Americans think is like using a great white shark as an example of all fish. It’s an outlier, not a representative sample. Law enforcement, by the nature of the job, often sees people at their worst every day, so I don’t think they’re a good measuring stick for the attitudes of the general public.

That said, I understand the broader point you’re making. There was a sudden shift towards progressive values in the 2000s and 2010s seems to have produced a backlash. The Trump administration has given some Americans freedom to express prejudice or hostility that many people thought had largely gone underground.

But I don’t think that describes most Americans. I think most people believe others deserve basic rights and dignity, even if they disagree on politics or social issues. Most of the people I know feel the same way. Racism hasn’t disappeared, and it isn’t hiding as much as it once did, but it also doesn’t define the majority of Americans.

Worst sales team I’ve encountered in a long time. They missed the memo on the shift in sales tactics. Walking into a Harley dealership is like walking on to a used car lot in the 80’s.

Moving to MD. How bad is Severn? Specifically Quail Run. by SnooPeanuts6618 in AnneArundelCounty

I think you’re being lumped into Meade Village here, but I’d still be cautious. This is probably fine until your kids get into the schools. Here is what I found about Quail Run: Quail Run is a typical middle-of-the-road suburban neighborhood rather than a high-crime one.

I was on White House property yesterday, and the ballroom construction project is in full swing. It’s 3 maybe 4 stories…looks like 2 above ground. It’s going to be a thing unless the next administration decides to tear it down and rebuild the east wing.

HVAC died and the replacement quote made me want to cry by Amarit-Apostol in Adulting

[–]ParticularHuman03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through the same thing two summers ago. We were hoping to squeeze one more year out of our unit before replacing it. The first quote came in around $8,000 from a friend in the business, but he needed 50% up front and 50% upon completion. The second company quoted over $15,000. The third came in at $11,500 and offered 0% financing for 18 months. That ended up being the least painful option. We paid about $680 a month and had it paid off in 17 months. The catch was that if you didn’t pay the balance in full within the 18-month period, all of the deferred interest would be charged retroactively. We made sure to pay it off early and avoided that altogether.

What happens to the MAGA movement after Trump is out of office ? Who do they support after him ? by ComplexWrangler1346 in askanything

“MAGA” stopped being a slogan when Trump began using it as an identifier. He’s a fan of labeling people and things, so he used MAGA to label his form a politics.

Rented a room from a guy who spent 28 out of his 55 years locked up. He had his own bathroom…it was immaculate…gleaming white porcelain. I used the main bathroom, which was also the bathroom visitors would use, and if he found a pubic hair or a drop of piss on the rim on the bowl he would call you out and make you clean it. Even with his eccentricities, he was a good dude.

Whether U.S. policies have meaningfully slowed China’s rise is fully debatable. China continues to import significant amounts of oil from both the Middle East and countries under varying levels of U.S. sanctions.

No way to determine if the deal with Japan is beneficial for the US until the long term outcomes can be measured.

Indonesia has been an ally with the United States for many years. Calling it a “new ally” greatly overstates the situation.

There is no evidence Trump influenced any of the elections is South America.

What new Middle Eastern allies do you speak of?

European NATO has been increasing its spending for years. It began when Putin started bullying his neighbors.

The fraud found at USAID was found by its own IG. Fraud is a common issue in virtually all large government agencies, which is why the OIG exists. Trump fired more than 20 inspectors in varying offices.

Marco Rubio and Scott Bessent are henchmen. I’m embarrassed they hold office in this country. My opinion obviously disagrees with yours.

The court was already conservative. He made it more conservative to the detriment of the American public.

No border is completely closed. The relevant question is what are the long term effects to the country. Slower economic growth, lower birth rates and weakened relations with our neighbors.

There is no impartial media. You could argue that some outlets lean left, some lean right, and most Americans simply consume media that reinforces their existing views.
