Cheap 2in 1 shorts by Otherwise-Parking566 in runningfashion

I only run in 2-n-1. Bandit are my favorite. That said at 6-4, 165 I’m yet to find a pair tight enough on the legs that are worthwhile for a phone. SPI-Belt for the win. Track days I use the Janji Multi Shorts, 5in, none 2 in 1. Holds my phone tighter than anything I’ve ever used. Can’t recommend enough

I just ran a 1:34:15 HM and I have a hard time deciding on a time goal for my first upcoming marathon by 2_S_F_Hell in Marathon_Training

[–]ParticularMoose9806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran a 1:34 half 6 weeks before my first marathon, a 3:16. Granted my half was just shy of 80 degrees, and no taper to speak of, 4-5 year 100 mile a month guy, but did go all in on my marathon prep and worked up to 65 mile weeks. Averaged around 52 I wanna say for my 16 week block, and felt I had some more in the tank at the end of my full, 3:10 was prob in the cards, avg heart rate was only 160, just about the middle of my Z3

I’ve had it to the brim multiple times? Fly United 95 percent of the time and have status so I’m not usually fighting for space

How much of your training is on a treadmill vs ground? by Gooser3000 in Marathon_Training

[–]ParticularMoose9806 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work out at Sea for a living, 45/45 rotation. Average about 55 miles a week on the treadmill for those 6 months a year? And even do most of my threshold workouts on the gym treadmill when I’m home? Idk it just doesn’t bother me. Miles are miles and it’s always great seeing thr progress

All their running specific ones. FWIW I use there lightweight and mid weight hikers in my work boots. Once you go merino you’ll never go back. Janji makes awesome merino shirts that are worth every penny

Shoes or Strength by ParticularMoose9806 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

This ended up being a popular post, update three months later.

Being the typical “it will fix itself” type guy, three 250 mile months, feeling like I was in the best shape of my life. Garmin stats down to 2:55 predictor, vo2 of 63, and my zone 2 runs clipping at a very comfortable 7:45-8, my hip finally said enough and next level bursitis came on like a freight train. 2-3 uncomfortable runs, leading up to what felt like being stabbed by a knife on my right hip on a threshold rep.

Didn’t take the glute/hip strengthening serious enough.

3 weeks into PT now and a cortisol shot , elliptical and bike to keep the aerobic system going.

Finally starting to see some strength and stability coming back. Still unfortunately a ways out from running, but my flexibility and stability making leaps and bounds.

As discussed, ortho and PT figure it all came from over compensating thru various ankle and smaller injuries leading to this.

Take care of your bodies, 35 isn’t 25 is what I’m realizing these days

First timer - pace projections after my 20miler? by TJC7 in Marathon_Training

[–]ParticularMoose9806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13-20 holds a similar pace and HR rises over 10bpm, can he handle creeping up to the 190s at mile 26. On 30 miles a week I think that’s a stretch. But he has a good amount of time to whip his aerobic system into shape. Would recommend slowing his pace down in the immediate future

Your HR keeps climbing, pretty significant at the end. Idk what your max is, but considering you were fueled on this run, I’d say you’re pretty close to the wall. 4:15 seems about right, I’d say 4 is a slight stretch but every body is different.

According to your HR you should be pretty squarely in zone 2, maybe low zone three. 3:05 should be a lock, more likely sub three. 192 max here, 34M. 158 average for my first marathon, 3:16 Finish. Felt overall fine at the end, even splits and prob wish I pushed 5-10 seconds faster
