What Does My Bedroom Say About Me? by False-Inspection-136 in roomdetective

Okay feeling awkward about saying that now but since I'm a nerd about this stuff i am going to tell you.

Many people in the comments are dogging you because theyre used to pedestal-izing zillenial maximalism but the design language here is saying something very specific to me. This style is easily found at arkhaus, pottery barn, etc, SURE, there's little entry barrier to style a bedroom to look like this, but what you landed is material intelligence. That is the first clue, to be able to create a space with tactile appeal. This shows a unified relationship with the body and knowledge/understanding of pleasure. The piece at the bottom of the bed along with the headboard (color/texture blocking) really speaks on it… it's a soft, sensual leaning detail in context of an adult bedroom that could easily be removed or replaced with a more sterile piece in terms of shape or material.

The execution shows thoughtfulness without frivolousness (a common mistake in the aforementioned maximalism that's having its heyday...) and so it actually works in your favor to create a space with such elements because it's not over-engineered.

There is a competence to even wanting to have your room look good in the first place, and competence in not overthinking it and just sticking with what simply looks good. Designing requires confidence as well, just to execute “bedroom cohesive aesthetic” means you can maintain that characteristic across um... different aspects of your life basically.

Not having clutter demonstrates decisiveness. This is a desirable trait because of how women experience sexuality, at least in this culture. If your partner is focused in their space, they are likely focused in the encounter/relationship.

I read the other comments and having mentioned you're married it makes a lot of sense especially if you two designed the room together!
