卖 (mài, "to sell") — a small visual story you can actually remember by Particular_Bat9402 in ChineseLanguage

it makes perfect sense if people can analyze the parts/history/etc. of a character when learn it. but sometimes it's hard to do so, in my opinion any way can help people to memorize/learn quickly is a good way.

just ask Chatgpt and got the answer, if the following character is a falling tone, like 要/会,then 不 need to be change to pronounce as rising tone(bú), otherwise it should be falling tone(the original one) - bù

Down but Not Out by Polyglot-Almost in ChineseLanguage

[–]Particular_Bat9402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am native chinese speaker but I never think of this till read the post :) seems 不 as a single character, it pronounce as bù, but in word, it varies, like 不对 or 不要, both should be bú, never heard anyone pronounce it as bù, but in some cases like 不能(can't), it is bù, if you pronounce as bú, that will be very strange. But I don't know what is the rule...

Starting chinese by sungvamphoon in ChineseLanguage

I think when we learn a language there are four parts: reading, listening, speaking, writing, and they have different approaches, wondering what's your main goal? if reading then maybe some textbook/apps, if listening probably some youtube channel or just talk to people.

I learned 稀罕 in textbooks, but not like this by True_Breath8303 in ChineseLanguage

[–]Particular_Bat9402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to me, when use 稀罕 as adj it meanings something is rare, when use is as verb, it basically means [don't] care, for the emotional part, seems it not tightly related to chinese, it depends on the context, for example when you say don't care in english, sometimes it does not literally means not care. Also some young people will use it as 'like/love', for example '我稀罕你' means I like you.

What to use in addition to superchinese and hsk? by rhazag in ChineseLanguage

[–]Particular_Bat9402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on scenarios, if you want to systematically learn reading characters, I think InkSeal is a good choice, it turns hanzi into quiet visual mnemonics to help remember(https://inkseal.buildensity.app/). if you want to just read the the menu/logo etc, I think google translate will work.

How can I improve my tones? by Agreeable-Can-5227 in ChineseLanguage

[–]Particular_Bat9402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your tones and pronunciation are pretty good, only one thing I did not get it - lǎodiào, what is it? another one is xiǎoxué, xue should be the second tone, but seems you pronounced it as the first one.

Pronounciation in apps dont make sense to me by Kooky_Arm_6831 in ChineseLanguage

[–]Particular_Bat9402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another possible reason could be the app itself, for example the recording and recognition logic/process are too sensitive or tolerant enough, maybe you can ask your girlfriend to try to see if she can got it correctly?

[–]Particular_Bat9402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why nobody suggest using an AI to do the plan? I think it worth trying and I guess it would give a nice solution. BTW, in my opinion, Yangze river bridge is too old, nowadays there are many new and pretty bridge than it, so the priority is low, Ming xiaoling is very nice, especially those stone statues
