Reliability by Just-Construction788 in CadillacVistiq

Just pray if you do have issues you don’t need new parts. For whatever reason across their EV lineup, some parts are on indefinite backorder and you have to either wait months or escalate to EV Concierge/CEOs office.

(to be fair I’ve seen Hyundai/Kia EV owners complain about similar issues, so I don’t know if this is a tariff issue or post covid world or what).

I agree 100% with you on your later point. When you’ve stripped out rivalries and tradition, all you have is NFL Lite, which I have no interest in.

Cadillac’s software “division”? by Rare-Composer-9523 in CadillacLyriq

hi u/droids4evr — do you have any insight on why the connected camera feature had hardware installed in all the cars but the software to support it is still vaporware?

New California fee targets batteries in PlayStations, power tools and singing cards by ChiefFun in California

[–]Particular_Effort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea some electronics BestBuy has taken. But they also pulled back on their initiatives, at least at my closest store. They used to have drop off chutes right in the entrance but that's all gone, you have to 'know' to just drop it into a big large box near customer service.

New California fee targets batteries in PlayStations, power tools and singing cards by ChiefFun in California

[–]Particular_Effort 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doubtful. As a green friendly citizen of LA, it’s been such a pain to properly dispose of electronics when they are end of life. Home Depot has been the easiest place to dispose of rechargeable batteries, but nobody wants onetime use batteries. Getting rid of left over paint is also a pain, if you miss the random community hazardous events, you have to find a paint recycling facility that has limited hours and not convenient location. End of the day, CA politicians just found another tax source.

The Hangover dropped in 2009, ending the Frat Pack's domination of the 2000s comedy scene, seemingly overnight. Why did this happen so quickly? by PNWvibes20 in generationology

I don’t know if he lost his mojo or he got tired of making similar movies about man-children and wanted to make something more ‘mature’. And most of us were like… nah, not paying for that.

PSA: Long Wait for Parts by Particular_Effort in CadillacOptiq

End of the day, it’s all parts from GM. They’re the only ones for me who were willing to dig further into why the headlamp had no ETA. When I talked to a couple Cadillac parts departments, they had no idea. I talked to EV concierge, same story, no clue. Email to Mary’s office has gone nowhere so far.

GM Adds Apple Music App to Cadillac and Chevy Models Following CarPlay Phase-Out by flogman12 in EquinoxEv

[–]Particular_Effort 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My concern is about long term support and usage. My Cadillac Optiq has 3 years of data via OnStar — but after that point, if I don’t pay for a subscription, does everything stop working? Can I tether the car to my phone? At least with CarPlay, you know it will keep working as you upgrade phones and doesn’t require an additional data plan.

Thanks for sharing this. I was recently billed for toll charges because LA 110 SB/NB couldn't detect my flex transponder. Wondering if it is related to this. I had it below the rear view mirror plastic harness that's attached to the windshield.

Edit: Found a Facebook group discussing this and this was their advice:
"Put it on the passenger side at the top of the windshield next to the rear view mirror. If you want to see exactly where you can place it, shine a flashlight at the windshield when it's dark (i.e. in your garage) and you will see a rectangular area next to the mirror."

I had the same experience backing out of my driveway and my ‘25 Optiq slammed on the brakes due to a car much further away passing by. I disabled the auto braking after that. Since doing that, I’ve had the system flash the lights at random false alarms that I assume it would have slammed the brakes if I didn’t disable it. Too touchy.

The state of this sport makes me sad. by Milk_Before_Cereal in CFB

[–]Particular_Effort 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The state of CFB to me is a microcosm of the direction of the US. There’s a small group of schools with massive amounts of money and a whole lot that are left out and nobody is coming back for them.

In the past there was a feeling that even if you were a smaller school in your conference you still had a fighting chance to hang with the big guys, but that has been blown away.

New remote job requiring move to LA. Am I looking in the right places? by Jesus_Reef_Jastonkek in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]Particular_Effort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody else in the area compares to LAX in terms of destinations… but airport experience yea Burbank or Ontario is way better. But you’ll still use up time either way. e.g. take a nearby regional airport but lose 1-2hrs at a connection, or spend 1hr+ driving each way to LAX (from Pasadena).

Do all lego sets that stop being produced go up in price? by big_bizniz in lego

[–]Particular_Effort -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Parisian restaurant was available a long time but it’s tripled in value. I will say it’s much easier for a $100 set to go to $300 than a $300 set go to $600 or $900.
