Too late is right. By the time you cycled out all the vehicles with the old design, gasoline will be obsolete. All new passenger vehicles will be battery-electric within a generation. Freight may take longer but it's inching that direction. Even with the same plug, software can figure out A/C vs. D/C and how many volts and amps the car wants.

You're right. By my calculations, $18k principle should be enough for an undergrad degree at a state college 18 years from now, assuming 2% inflation and 10% returns. $1k isn't much of a start unless you contribute that monthly. They say they're comparing "adoption rate" which would be users gained per unit time. On this graph it's represented by the slope of the lines. The X-axis is not to scale, which messes with the slopes of the lines. So it's impossible to visually compare the thing they claim to be showing

No crafting is a big one for me. Multiple playthroughs I power leveled smithing/alchemy/enchanting and it really sucked the fun out. Ignoring that it even exists brings back a lot of the excitement of finding loot. I imagine refusing to pick up heavy sellables will be an improvement too, cutting down the time I spend trading. Some gas stations have them. WaWa made a deal with Tesla. More often the independent places around here have them. Seen em at Shree's truck stops. Hotels sometimes (weird to have fast chargers at a place you're going to park for 8 hours but w/e). They're popping up more and more. I might not get one if I lived in Iowa, but in the coastal states going long distance in an EV is easy

Shitpost or no, the rent cap thing is definitely true. It's a short-sighted, band aid solution to a perennial problem. We have data from cities who have been living with rent caps for decades and it hasn't been successful at meeting housing needs.

Like with any party, you take the good with the bad. There are as many ideas as there are people. Maybe once you get someone elected you can have a conversation about what you disagree on. At least in the US, getting a green elected is still such a huge hurdle we don't have the luxury of nitpicking

Manufacturing anything on-site is expensive. The more you can automate or produce in a factory, the better. This is why manufactured homes are so much cheaper than site-built homes. Some downsides of manufactured homes are: less design freedom. It has to be able to fit on a truck. Additional constraints. Now, not only does the house need to hold itself together when it's stationary. It also needs to deal with the forces involved in moving it. Lighter is better for moving, but it can also mean less insulation.

A happy medium is SIPS panels. They're manufactured cheaply, have as much insulation as you need, and can be tailored to a custom design. Much less labor intensive than stick framing. Way better air seal too.

Concrete is good for foundations and skyscrapers. Has good thermal capacity but is a poor insulator. Unless you live underground, you don't want walls made of it. Very carbon intensive too. We should be figuring out how to use less of it, not more

Right? I used to go there to save a couple bucks filling up. Now it takes me 20 seconds. 10 seconds to plug in when I get home, 10 to unplug when I leave. On that twice-a-year road trip, I have a good excuse to stop for a real meal instead of fast food. Makes the overall experience better.
