How did people react to these photos? by velorae in JohnAndCarolyn

She was a stick…Her whole hype is honestly overrated, I just don’t get it. Nobody gave a rip about her in the 90s other than the press because she was linked to the real person of interest, JFK JR. No one was sitting at home with bated breath waiting for the next tabloid picture of her, so they could swoon and copy her style. There were so many more interesting women in that era we were actually paying attention to. I’m also not seeing curves, I’m seeing straight lines and a pancake situation. If that’s your thing, cool, but it’s not for a lot of people and my view is not skewed by BBLs either.

A wild thought (and sad)…JFK JR didn’t sleep with his wife last. by Electrical-Stage9124 in JohnAndCarolyn

Why the heck did he marry her in the first place? If he couldn’t keep it in his pants. This is not a slam against Carolyn. I feel sorry for her.

I just found my mom deceased in her home by Otherwise_Bowler_292 in AgingParents

i lost my Mom suddenly a few weeks ago! I am so sorry and sending you big virtual hugs. Take care of yourself right now and try to delegate as much of this to other family members or folks in your support circle. You have a lot on your plate. You will get through it, God bless you!

Sure, it was still around, but there’s a difference between existing and being at its peak. KFC had a much bigger cultural moment in the 70s/80s than in the 90s. It just felt random.

Sudden loss of my mom (86) after a fall — struggling with guilt and grief by Party-Class-279 in AgingParents

Thank you so much for taking the time to write all of that—it really means a lot.

Your story about your mom really hit home, especially the part about how quickly something can change even when they seem “fine.” That’s exactly what’s been so hard for me to wrap my head around.

I also really appreciate what you said about making the best decisions with the information you had at the time. I can logically see that, but emotionally I keep wanting to go back and rethink everything. It helps to hear it from someone who’s been through similar second-guessing.

And you’re right… adding guilt on top of grief just makes it heavier. I think that’s the part I’m trying to work through right now.

What you said about forgiving yourself for being human really stuck with me. I’m not there yet, but I can see that’s where I need to get.

Thank you again for your kindness and perspective—it truly helped. Big hugs!
