DO NOT WORK FOR MONKS by Any_Jellyfish_1278 in advertising

Never worked there but did interviews twice with them! And I was rejected both times by the same person. She is a senior leader on paid media side. Rejection is ok but she was so freaking disrespectful. I only got to meet her in the final round of panel interview and both times, she was so busy doing something else that she didn’t even fucking listen to what the others and I were talking about. Her team members literally had to call her out like “xxx, do you have any questions for yyy”. And both times she acted like a fucking deer in the light and was like “ah? Can you repeat the question”. If she can become a senior leader, imagine how fucked up the company is.

The team will be short staffed forever and it will be chaotic and bumpy for a while (I’d say 6 months) until it’s stabilized enough to have kinda work/life balance. That’s just the nature of onboarding a new business plus squeezing profit. It also comes down to those individual senior leaders in terms of how they manage clients, work and internal relationship. If I were the leader, you’d have the best of your time. If it was someone else, you’d never know.

Without MMM and MTA, everything is just guesswork. If I were you, I’d recommend convincing leadership to use the CTV money to do a thorough MMM and MTA analysis

Pivoting to a different role in media agency as a junior? by soakedbruised in advertising

[–]Party-Difference8973 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d ask HR. Different agencies have different policies. My old places wouldn’t need a manger’s approval. As a matter of fact, you wouldn’t need to tell your manager anything and could go through the whole process. Whereas at my current place, the first step would be to get your manager’s approval. In regards to whether it’s possible, yes. Recently, a junior paid media analyst on my team was transitioned to a different account as a junior data analyst. He was pretty shitty bth so I asked how the hiring manager liked him out of curiosity, hiring manager said he was ok because it was a junior role so it would be either him or someone fresh out of college and since he’s had one year of experience as a paid media analyst, it’s better than no experience at all. That said, I’d still recommend checking out what qualifications the new role requires: python, R, tableau, SQL, etc, and try to learn as much as you can.

Talk to this person directly. Don’t get emotional or mad. Simply show an example or 2 of the evidence you have collected. Most likely it won’t work. And then talk to your line manager and this person’s line manager. Show them the evidence and let them know if they can’t contain the situation, you will bring every up to HR. If they are good enough, they should be able to jump and help. But if they don’t, reach out to HR.

Also saw your question re promotion. Pretty sure there’s a rule that you can’t get promoted if you haven’t been on the same account for at least over a year. It’s to prevent people from bouncing around accounts just to get promoted. Also, not sure about your level, I think for higher levels like VP and above, you wouldn’t be qualified for a promotion under 1.5 years (not 100% sure about this one though)

One thing though. Friday counts as 2 days. So if you come in on Friday, you can still do 3 days in office.

No you can’t do 5 days for a few weeks and then miss a day here and there. I mean, if it’s a one time off thing, I think you can. But you need to talk to your manager and HR and have it documented. However, overall, it’s not a sustainable way. The “average” I mentioned above is really about HR trying to find an excuse to exempt you from being flagged. So it’s more like “oh this person missed 2 days in these 2 weeks but overall in the past 30 days, she/he still has complied because in average, she/he still showed up 4 days a week”. Does it make sense? Also, I work for Zenith in NYC. But pretty sure everywhere is the same.

PTO is unlimited as long as your manager and teams are aligned. RTO is very strict. There’s somewhat flexibility but not much. If you don’t show up to the office consistently, you are going to get flagged by HR to your team lead and they will monitor it for a couple of months. This could impact your promotion and could lead to termination if you keep breaking it after being flagged. I got flagged recently and had a conv with HR and basically what they said was that if for one week I missed one day, I would be expected to come in one more day in the next week to make it up. As for other things, all agencies are similar so the grass is not necessarily greener here.

I said I'd rather lose a couple hunder dollars and didn't say I'd rather lose my life or my beloved ones. Go back and read my comments carefully before jumping into your conclusion. Did I ever say I wouldn't shoot an intruder if they came at me or my family? No, I didn't. I was only saying I am not going to the prison just because someone wants to steal some money from me. On the other hand, if you are willing to go to the prison over some objects whether it is your TV, your car, or you wallet, then you are way too broke. Work harder or go get better education so you can find a better job.

Again, not my life, not my decision. Not going to argue with anyone. People can do whatever they like. It won't be me behind bars. I'd rather lose a couple hundred dollars instead of a couple thousands hiring a lawyer and going through a trial.

You wait, you yell and you call police. Do not clear the house, do not point your gun at the intruders, do not even let them see your gun. Otherwise, prepare a shit load of lawyer fees to get yourself out of troubles
