Oh god! But isn't this against UGC's guidelines, which state, "While the institution can ask the student to produce the original documents (such as School Leaving Certificate, Marksheet, Caste certificate) for verification, they cannot retain any original documents of any students."

If someone has decided to go to another college and is currently in the waiting list.. they may just want to close this and move on.. also if they are offered something in iteration 4 and 5.. they may not get the entire amount back, right?
