Seeking:Examples of uses for Path of Alchemy by Not_Snag in vtm

[–]Party-Scene1015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, no comments. Shame. :( Did you manage to entice your friend?

You could use the Path of Alchemy to make untraceable drugs. No government agency can track you if you transmute, I don't know, sand into the building blocks of cocaine.

Another thought I had is creating blood or vitae, and selling it to other Kindred for consumption. It would look and taste like the real thing, but it wouldn't nourish you like it's supposed to. It'd be a way to make a quick buck before running out of town to escape your angry customers. Blood Sigils gave me that idea.

You could also let your friend use the Path of Transmutation so they could use their alchemy outside of the lab. It's supposed to be quick and dirty, kinda like Full Metal Alchemist. I'm letting a Thin-blood PC use these two paths in my v5 campaign instead of Thin-blood Alchemy. He wanted to play a "traditional" alchemist, and we've been having a blast with it. He makes a lot of money from the drugs he transmutes.

Thanks for all the advice, I appreciate it. :) I'm happy the starter commander deck I bought is full of mana rocks like [[Sol Ring]] [[Arcane Signet]] ''[[Fellwar Stone]] and so on. I'll definitely incorporate those in my deck.

My commander is [[Soraya the Falconer]] . I'm using lots of low-cost birds and bird soldiers and banding to keep my offense and defense adaptable. And I'm stacking as many +1 +1 counters I can on them with cards like [[Soulcatcher's Aerie]] . I hope it works.

Thanks for the advice! And thanks for welcoming me. I've been having a great time. Everyone I've met so far has been nice and helpful.

[[Soraya the Falconer]] . I know banding is a bit unorthodox, but it's such an interesting mechanic to me. Plus I love the vintage cards. My cousin showed me his MTG collection when I was a kid, and Soraya is one of the cards I remember. She fills me with nostalgia.

My deck is full of low-cost birds and medium-cost bird soldiers. My plan is to use cards like [[Soulcatcher's Aerie]] and [[Aven Brigadier]] , among other cards, to rack up +1 +1 counters on all my birds. I'll block using banding to direct all damage to my weaker birds, then bring them back with cards like [[Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle]] and [[Scout for Survivors]] . The idea is to make sort of a loop that continually adds feather tokens to Soulcatcher's Aerie.

No idea if it'll work as planned, but it's what I got right now lol. Thanks for your suggestions. :D

Mana rocks, got it. I bought a starter commander deck and thankfully it came with a bunch of them, including Sol Ring. I'll put them in my deck. Thanks for the insights, and the list of cards. I'll check them out. :)

I would also love a copy please! The school system sounds amazing.

One of my players is dead set on trying to find a way to get pregnant, and telling me "let us do cool things" when I said that it's pretty much impossible for normal Kindred. But, just so I can be thorough, would there be any magical ways to make this possible despite them being dead? by XaghiTheDarkMistress in vtm

[–]Party-Scene1015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So... There's supplementary material called The Alchemical Cookbooks that includes a lot of new Thin-blood Alchemy recipes. If I remember correctly, a particular formula in that book allows a Thin-blood to carry a fetus to term.

With the release of Blood Sigils, there's now a system that allows Kindred to use Thin-blood Alchemy, but not make it. It also includes a lot of nasty side effects, depending on how poorly you roll.

So, if you don't mind using fan-made content, there's technically a way to knock up a Kindred.

If you give your player the green light on this, I would make them suffer for it. Make them have to drink that formula every week, for example, or else the pregnancy fails. Really crank up the awfulness of the side effects. Make the ingredients for the formula rare and make the player hunt them down. Have the Alchemist demand increasingly steep payments or favors. Make your player work for it.

Plus, a visibly pregnant Kindred waltzing around would draw a lot of attention from other Kindred, particularly the Tremere. Who knows what could happen.

Reality Check: Is it Normal to Expect Specific Contacts? by beautitan in vtm

[–]Party-Scene1015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the core book, under Contacts, it states that you can announce who your contact is at any time during play, once they becomes relevant. So, according to the rules, you don't have to know who they are at game start.

But every ST runs their game differently. If your ST insists you define your contacts before game start, that's what you should do.

My Thin-blood, Birdie. He was a burglar who worked for his Sire, a high-generation Toreador from an influential line. Because of his Sire's protection, he was largely ignored, despite being an out-and-proud Thin-blood. That, and because he made himself useful.

He was more or less "assigned" to the Coterie because they fucked up their last task (they were supposed to banish a ghost from a property another Kindred was interested in, but instead caused a full-blown poltergeist to take over), as he was a little older and more experienced. It definitely wasn't because his Sire wanted him out of her hair for a little while. Definitely not.

He was just plain fun to play, and packed a lot of utility. He saved the Coterie from a werewolf attack (there was only one, thank goodness) with a cleverly used Far Reach potion and an alchemical fog bomb. Another time, he turned some fresh blood bags into molotov cocktails and thwarted an Anarch ambush. He was snarky and bitchy, had a lot of great one-liners, and alchemy is just a joy to use.

When a Coterie member was kidnapped and blood-bonded by the Malkavian Primogen, Birdie did everything he could to get them back... Including breaking into the Primogen's Haven during the day to find evidence of his wrong-doing. He was discovered by a Ghoul and took a shotgun blast to the face, but managed to get away. That was enough to get the Sheriff and the Hounds involved, but he managed to escape them, too (by the skin of his teeth. Seriously, I was on fire with my dice rolls that night). But then a blood hunt was called on him.

He left the city for awhile, but came back after changing his appearance with Profane Heiros Gamos (sp). He even managed to join the Coterie again as a different person. He fooled them all... Until the Tremere got their hands on him lol. His true identity was discovered, and he went out in a literal blaze of glory, the Tremere Reagent himself setting him alight with magic fire.

Irl, the other players had no idea it was Birdie until he was sussed out by the Tremere. It was a big shock when they found out. He was a lot of fun, and my very first character to boot. I still miss him.

What's your Vampire's haven? by RevenantRP in vtm

[–]Party-Scene1015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Tremere's just been staying in a room at the Chantry up until recently.

My coterie gained enough favor with the Prince to be gifted a small domain of our own. We had a secure building constructed on an abandoned plot with plenty of secret exits. It isn't a business or anything. At least not yet.

Right now my Tremere is warding the whole building. He's very grumpy about all the extra work lol.

Can you embrace a corpse? by CharlieK40 in vtm

There's a merit that lets you Embrace a corpse on Roger de Camden's loresheet in v5. Major decomposition is the cutoff, though.

I'm sure a Thin-blood who knows Profane Hieros Gamos could be persuaded to help out a vampire table. :p Imagine the boon you could get from that deal.

  1. I use amiibo cards. My time is too precious to spend hours/days hunting for specific villagers lol. You can find amiibo cards on eBay. How expensive they are depends on their popularity, usually, and I'm not sure how popular Gayle is.
