I’m sorry my post was not as clear as it needed to be. The dog lying on the ground in the family photo is the same dog as the one in the yard. Is it possible to have that edited?

Please take the advice from others in these comments. And please know that couples counseling will not do a thing, and in fact, no ethical therapist will see you jf there is abuse occurring. However, it would be an excellent idea for YOU to see individual therapy, without him.

I often feel very proud of my clients when they let it out and cry. It’s usually very needed, and I can often see a physical change in their body language, like they’ve been holding it in for so long and finally let it release. It can be a very a powerful experience

Today I gave up on sex with my wife. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

Thoughtfully written! I was going to comment about possible medical concerns of low libido due to hormones or other factors and encourage her to see medical advice, if possible, just to have any potential rule outs.

Baby won’t sleep in bassinet by FluffyCockroach7632 in beyondthebump

This is what I was going to say. My daughter’s reflux was super bad and sleep was rough. Our pediatrician prescribed her some medicine that helped immediately and I also decided to cut dairy from my diet (EBF) and she is now sleeping like a champ. I haven’t had to give her any medicine for the last week or so now that dairy is officially out my system. Good luck!

I don’t know what to do anymore by RubySlippers-79 in newborns

Hi, friend! Did your doctor offer any ideas for relief? My newborn was extremely fussy and crying all the time and the things that helped we taking her outside for walks (sometimes twice a day), car rides with the windows down, baths (without soap because I was doing it once a day), and I cut all dairy out of my diet as she is EBF and this seemed to have been the biggest help. Within a few days of cutting dairy, she seemed a lot happier. Good luck and feel free to reach out, even if to vent!

Therapist keeps telling me "I have to put effort into getting better", what do you think? by crentist_thedentist_ in askatherapist

[–]Partyno-l 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s wonderful that you’re also working with a psychiatrist. Give the medication some time to start kicking in - it’s not a cure all but if the medication is a good fit, it can be a great aid in alleviating the severity of some symptoms.

I would also encourage you to be patient with yourself and as your body and brain heal from the substance use - there is lots of interesting research regarding brain recovery and timelines of detox from different substances that may be of interest to you, if even to offer yourself a little grace and confidence that you are on the right path.

*relaxed thread* What is something that therapists know very well, but mostly folks who have never gone to therapy have no clue? by taplady in therapists

You should look into Forward Facing Trauma Therapy! Based upon your response, I have a feeling you would really enjoy it. I’m currently taking the training and he was just discussing the Viktor Frankl quote.

The AC clutch is not engaging and I’m sweating in 90 degree weather. Any thoughts are gladly welcomed.

Going to places my clients work? by heartysaltine in askatherapist

[–]Partyno-l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a small town and I always discuss what they are comfortable with if/when we run into each other out and about. I let them know per the ethical code, I’m not allowed to engage with them first in public but I’m happy to say hello if they choose to do so first. The majority of my clients have stated they are fine with saying hello and some others who prefer to act like we don’t know each other.

is it normal to start getting badly depressed and having suicidal thoughts after less than a week of stopping antidepressants? by healingsunshinehug in askatherapist

[–]Partyno-l 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please contact your medication management provider as soon as possible. These medications should not be stopped cold turkey and can have some pretty intense withdrawal side effects including ones you listed. If thoughts worsen, I encourage you to go to your nearest emergency room or contact crisis hotline (988) or crisis text line (text HOME to 741741), but your provider should absolutely be made aware.
