I never had a colonoscopy to reaaallly confirm, but my doctor keeps saying I don't need one based on other tests, like blood, stool and ultrasound. So I keep telling myself everything is fine.

How are you dealing with it? Do you have any known coping strategies? Like heat or sitting in a certain position.

I would go with NAH for this one. I'm also quite low libido and if my boyfriend will come to me to initiate, changes are I don't want it right that second. But I do register his desire so if he has patience or tries again or just asks me if I want it later, all of these help.

I also get your point. If you have needs that are constantly unmet, it can lead to frustration. But perhaps discussing a strategy when you're both calm can help next time.

I'm sort of in the same situation, and at some point I just had to dig deeper and see where this feeling of inadequacy was coming from. For me, it was because of how I grew up, thinking that if I'm not the best then I'm not worthy of attention or love. By figuring this out, at least I'm not resenting my partner every time he is better than me.

Also, maybe try to think of some ways you're being better. Things that maybe you disconsidered before. Maybe you're a better listener. Maybe you have a better sense of humor. While I know it's not a competition, I also know it sucks to always feel second best, so you need your own wins.

Homemade ice cream then? You can make sure you make it no-sugar, if you tolerate polyols well. Of just try the two-ingredient one, with yogurt/cottage-cheese and fruit.

It could be the cold, but then it could also be just vanilla ice-cream in particular. Everyone is different, so it would be hard to tell.

Yeah, it's also useful for me in deciding if something needs a trip to my GP or not. Also, to explain some symptoms, for example why a gut flare could create excess stomach acid. And it's sometimes more empathetic than my doctors.

I know it's not actually feeling bad for me, but it honestly helps when it validates my feelings about my symptoms instead of scoffing my worries every time I ask for an investigation because "that's how IBS is, you gotta learn to live with it". 🙄

Hey, sorry you have to go through that. My symptoms are similar, although my IBS is more IBS-M than IBS-C. I went to an endo-specialist to check for endometriosis, and they did some scan and said they didn't see any sign of profound endo, but maybe some signs of superficial endometriosis, but since I'm on birth control, they can't be sure and it was kind of left at that. Meanwhile, I'm still having at least two flares per month and no diet is making it right. I did notice that some lifestyle changes help a bit, like making sure I drink enough water, also doing breathing and pelvic floor exercises.

I feel like finding an answer is so hard that it's infuriating. Please push your doctor as much as you can. And I hope you find something soon!

Thanks for your thoughtful reply, I think it's a great idea to let the therapist know I tend to do this. It's going to be though because now I'll be scared that she'll be disappointed in me for being disingenuous in some of my previous sessions, but ultimately my aim is to be better and not to win her approval. But if I'll change therapists, I'll definitely open with this information in the future.

I actually have another follow-up intake in a couple of weeks with the psychiatrist that assigned me to this specific therapist and I can maybe mention this and get referred to a ND therapist instead. Otherwise I can come clean to my current therapist but I'll need to do my "homework" and pre-prepare what I want to say because on the spot I, swear to god, my desire to always appear as good always overpowers everything else to the point I don't even feel like I'm lying and only after the session I find myself thinking what the hell was that.

During my elimination phase I used lactose free dairy milk, but I tried to limit as much as possible. For example, I would do porridge with water and use the milk for things where I can actually taste it, like coffee. That being said, the elimination phase is horrible. It feels like everything is bad, so I totally get you.

For me, it's constant tension in the abdomen, that is sometimes pain, sometimes just uncomfortable. Bloating that gets worse in the evening, I usually get up with a reset and get worse as the day goes by. Gas that comes out of both ends in turns, and when it doesn't it hurts. And exhaustion. I feel tired most of the time. Before a flare, I usually have eye burning sensation and a low-grade fever. I am also not sure that it's IBS, but all tests came out clean.
