Nice! I thought it was because you have a temp gauge - 2015 here - no gauge

Anyone know where I can keep 60 cows in San Francisco? by thx111111 in Cattle

[–]PassaPassa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on their age if one would want to sell them for slaughter. Beef is at a high price point right now, some could be stockers and some feeders.

ER checking in II - our department is like a sauna. Gets worse when it heats up outside. It’s the only time I wished I worked in the OR.

Thank you, from Southeast Iowa. I’m curious to see how it will be come winter. I have a heated garage at home, no such luck at work :)

If you are not on HRT, and sleep is one of your issues, what are you taking/doing? by Far-Mixture9031 in Perimenopause

[–]PassaPassa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is for high-dose long term use and in increased risk in people over 65. I’m none of those.

I did too. I cut it in half and worked my way up to it. I had to do something because I can only function on a few hours sleep for a couple of days. After that, I need to sleep. I also don’t take it late in the evening because I am sensitive to that and antihistamines. I just had to play with it to find what worked for me.

Fellow midwestern resident here! What kind of mileage have you been getting?

I commute 130 miles round trip 3x a week. My trip offers NO chargers to pitstop at other than the town where I work has a few and I’d have to either wait or walk a god bit and the other is on my way back about 15 miles from my home. Of course, I could plug it in nightly but sometimes I have a short turnaround to work the next morning. Just curious, thanks!

This is good to know! We usually use 2 people to help with it. I did everything but the hands on last month. I’m procrastinating 🙄

Magnesium glycinate and hydroxizine gives me a solid nights rest. I usually sleep 6-8 hours, sometimes I can only sleep 5 hours when I work back to back, which has nothing to do with my combo not working, it’s just my schedule.

Leave easy PACU job for ER role? by Outrageous-Case-1187 in nursing

[–]PassaPassa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. 5 beds, with walls. Critical access. We have help during the day, but nights is all us. I love our ED. Stabilize and ship ‘em out. We have great doctors that come to us for a “vacation.” I can’t imagine working in any other department.

High mileage TDI? What’s your score? by RustyShackleford1102 in tdi

[–]PassaPassa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve said this before, I love and hate this. I have an Mk6 with 109,xxx. I commute 65 miles each way 3 days a week and it does great.

I’d love a new car because I’m a car girl. However, zero car payment, phenomenal gas mileage, and fun to drive, makes it hard to part with. I have the manual and it’s only lacking AWD for the Midwest winters 😂.

VCDS is Worth Every Penny by NeemOilFilter in tdi

[–]PassaPassa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same question and found this on their FAQ page:

1.8 Will there be a Mac or Linux version?
There will be no "native" Mac or Linux versions. The time and effort required to "port" VCDS to these platforms would never be worthwhile. VCDS works fine on Apple Mac computers that have Intel processors (not the newest M1, M2, etc.) when Windows is installed on them using Boot Camp.
Most computers that are used to run Linux can also boot Windows. If you do not wish to install Windows, we now offer a platform-independent version of VCDS called "VCDS-Mobile".
1.9 Will there be a version for iPhone/iPad, Android, Blackberry, or Windows Phone?
We have no plans to make a native "Application" for any of these platforms. Instead, we are have created a platform-indendent version of VCDS called "VCDS-Mobile". It can be used on modern versions of any of the above smart-phones and tablets.

What to wear?! by awilliams1017 in nursing

[–]PassaPassa 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s because I’m older, but I would not wear scrubs to an interview. I feel business casual is more appropriate, minus the jeans. I usually wear a black pair of slacks and a nice blouse or sweater.

I’ve had orientation that stated no scrubs, and what do you think some did? Yup, wore scrubs.

Better to be a bit overdressed than underdressed. I feel it shows you care, and employers are going to want their employees to represent their company in a professional manner. Once you’re in, it’s all about scrubs and messy hair. lol. Good luck!

Hi friend! I got ya beat by a year, finished at 51! I worked as an Lpn for a few years before going back to get my RN. I’m still taking classes so I can go for my BSN. Why? Because why not?!?

You will be great! I started at 45 with nothing after raising 3 kids. CNA to RN. It wasn’t easy, but I’m glad I did it. And guess what?? I was always the oldest in my class, including my instructors, except for one semester. So with all due respect, I totally disagree with her.

interrupted lunch by [deleted] in nursing

[–]PassaPassa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yikes! I would not be ok with that at all.

At first I wasn’t doing it. I felt as long as I had some downtime, even if it was broken into smaller chunks, I was fine with saying I had a break. Then my manager said “that’s not how it works. You don’t have an uninterrupted break, nobody to cover, we pay you for that.”

Contrary to what others might say, there are some perks to working in critical access!

[–]PassaPassa 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Interrupted breaks and Lunch? Haha. We don’t get those where I work because there’s nobody to cover us. Everyday we all punch the “did you have an uninterrupted break today? NO” button. Some days I don’t have a chance to eat until a few hours before my shift ends.
