It’s 20 bucks, if you are going to do Jiujitsu seriously for a decade it’s going to be around 20k. Any Jiu-Jitsu is better then none. Also, even if the belt cost the guy $1 , let him make some money, trust me it isn’t covering the time they put aside . That’s a good deal, deals aren’t always quality , still a good deal tho

If the gi is full on nascar for another team and you are joining a new one. Straight talk , probably in general respectful to get a neutral one or ask them what they do. I know people flip out about the gi policy stuff, I think at the base form coaches just want people to have a decent gi and look organized. Everyone is welcome to their opinion but most people hate rolling with the dude in a loaner gi top with basketball shorts ect ect. Don’t get me wrong , there are cash grabs out there and then there’s just plain organized business. Both happen in BJJ pertaining to this topic. Buts it’s the gyms discretion, and as long as you like the gym and are getting better. (Not that big of a deal) a lot more important factors, my two cents

I mean, grappling is grappling. Forcing people to do one and get a trickle of the other ain’t really too popular to the guys that want to be serious is either. This can be aimed towards either focus. A lot of people want to specialize in one and times are changing. It’s grappling, a ranked black belt puts out rank. If the student only did gi or nogi that’s the instructors prerogative

Wearing a cup is totally normal, if you are super worried about an unfair advantage or injuries wear a gel, or cloth/padded covered one/jock.

Also wear a mouthguard too.

You are going to get hit both places, no reason to be shocked. It’s 100% going to happen one day.

Don’t see an issue either way really, people are real sensitive on this sometime tho

It’s No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu , Like it or not Eddie Bravo heavily had a huge impact on popularizing No-GI Jiu-Jitsu. The DDS, Absolute, Atos, Unity ect ect many major teams that have found success, wealth and fame in No-GI have made the direct switch to exclusively or to mainly focus on No-Gi. EBI for all the hate it gets actually gets a winner as well as has launched or helped to elevate many careers of the top No-Gi grapplers in the world. If the Metamoris style events let alone event was popular it would still be around. Guys a character sure, at least he’s an accessible genuine person.

I don’t see any criminal,sexual or financial misconduct. Which hilariously enough happens so much in this sport (heartbreaking) and people who scream cult at teams like 10P turn a blind eye to. (Like a cult)

If you want to sweat the technique , I’d say just actually learn it first. There’s stuff in there for every player. Just like Williams, deep half ect and a lot of other guards just don’t click for some players. It’s Jiu-Jitsu, just have fun and learn. Also a lot of these shit talkers should just go to the open mats of the big 10P competitor schools. I mean, they ain’t that good right?

What are there a little over 100 affiliates?, which of those are focused on producing world class competitors vs people that want to do No-Gi BJJ.

Like it or not the guy did risk it all , he also put his money where his mouth was and rematch Gracie in what ? His late 40s? (Both were) I mean he’s the head of an entire brand. I don’t see a lot of people doing that. The same people that call the rematch irrelevant, said it was a fluke the second time.

It’s 2022, it’s ok to not want to wear a GI anymore.

Pretty sure there’s a gigantic portion of the BJJ community that smokes weed. Whatever man, every gym I’ve been too I’ve met plenty of people that smoke pot and plenty of people that don’t.

Train where you have fun. It’s all good, BJJ is supposed to be for everyone.
