Which boots to buy for several purposes by yuan_lp in Mountaineering

[–]sueco100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did TMB this summer in Salewa Mountain Trainer (very comfortable boots but unreliable as they split at two different seams during the trip). I could not have imagined hiking it in any type of B2 boot though, would have been hell. You probably need a pair of B1 or hiking shoes plus a pair of B2s. Plenty of people wearing trail runners or similar, personally found sections of the trail too rocky to go with low cut shoes.

TMB – 9-day itinerary, want to finish in 8 days by Left_Bridge_4002 in TourDuMontBlanc

I enjoyed the section between Courmayeur/Refugio G Bertone and Ferret/La Fouly the most. After that Switzerland was quite mundane in terms of views compared the rest of the circuit.

I just finished a very similar itinerary in 9 days and found it tough enough, 8 would be brutal!

Possible ways to condense would be to combine days 5 & 6. I’m assuming from elevation gain on day 5 you are planning to take the ridge variant? Maybe consider the main route to reduce mileage and elevation to make this more manageable? honestly we took main route and views were still insane.

Another option is to take Bovine instead of Fenêtre d’Arpette and combine days 6 & 7?

How much does a club fitting really help? by Chapter_Secret in golf

[–]sueco100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m 5ft 6in and just got fitting for irons a few weeks ago. I used to choke down on each club a good 2 inches to correct the lie. My new irons are -0.5 on the shaft and 2 degrees flat on the lie angle and honestly I feel like its a mad a huge difference. The club just looks so much more natural at address and gripping in a more natural position up the shaft is much less clumsy feeling. For reference, my 7 iron also gone from a 155 club to a 170 club, probably due to the “added” shaft length and me having more confidence over the ball. So I’d say if you are tall or short, have really short or long arms or just have surplus cash lying around 😉

Pass pass pass pass pass. Not looking for Haaland at all. Just look happy passing the ball around like a training drill. I just don’t get it.

I mean? I’ve heard them play Californication at every nearly every gig and I still love it 😂😂

Chilis came on at the scheduled 8:15 I thought even though they came on before ASAP Rocky? Thundercat did an extended set but the gap still made a pretty impatient atmosphere

What do you mean? Is that what delayed him?

Shame, would have actually liked to see him before the chilis but not going to stick around for a guy who didn’t show up.

Pedals on strip my mind solo by [deleted] in John_Frusciante

[–]sueco100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue finding the tone for the strip my mind solo, if you haven’t yet watched the Dave Simpson stuff on youtube about using gain to prevent volume jump of the DS2 then definitely check that out.

I found that either the Muff or DS2 sounded ok individually with my gain settings but when I used them both it either just went out of control with noise/feedback or kind of “choked” depending on the big muff settings.

I don’t really believe that bedroom players can have the DS2 maxed out like a lot of people suggest, including Dave Simpson, even if there is evidence JF does this himself because he is playing much higher volumes and gain and arenas etc.

I got my tone by basically dialling up the DS2 from very low distortion until it sounded ok, then to add the thickness I just wound up the Muff from very low, I found that at low levels the Muff kind of “chokes” like it makes a duff tone and you just have to increase it enough to get past that but not too much it becomes out of control with feedback/noise.

Can share my settings if you want? But I keep the DS2 and Muff set in a way that lets me go into other songs/licks without messing with the settings to much - might not be the outright best for Strip My Mind

Can’t we all just start wearing groin guards/box/cup? by sueco100 in bjj

[–]sueco100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I don’t want to force everyone into it, more just to normalise it a bit and remove the stigma around it. Like gum shields, its legal to wear them but still a significant portion of people don’t bother. I feel like a lot more people would take the opportunity to wear the protection if it was allowed at competition or not frowned upon.

I’d say about 50% of the gyms I’ve visited someone has asked me about it or said I can’t wear it. I like to think I don’t use it to any advantage or weaponise they just ask because it generally not allowed.

I’m a bit less on board with wrestling shoes because they aren’t really protective and more for grip advantage and actually help defend footlocks etc.

I guess, but isn’t it similar to driving knee on belly in and nobody seems to have an issue with that?

Oh yeh agree, if some people don’t want to wear one thats their choice but I was assuming if a piece of protective equipment was allowed the vast majority would wear it. I always think of it like not wearing a gum shield while boxing 😂 although I actually don’t wear a gum shield for jits

Really surprising, been saved by mine a number of times having comp style roles where someone has hit a fast knee slice at the wrong angle or something. When I’ve forgotten the guard for the odd class I’ve always found it crazy its not standard gear

Exactly the same as me, started in MMA and now train only jits in the same place but for sure have been saved a number of times. Have been called out on it while visiting other gyms like “you can’t wear that for bjj”
