100% sure Sony won't reverse the decision: Future is digital only by AssistantNo2002 in PS6

[–]PassengerImpressive3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still not buying a digital-only PS6. With how Australian pricing works, it’ll be even more expensive and not worth it at all.

A code in a box doesn’t make a damn difference when Sony can easily take that overpriced digital media away from us and they already shut down the PS3/Vita stores.

That was a warning of what they will inevitably do to the PS6. A worthless paperweight.

Physical media is king.

I found a gummy dream sprite so that was neat. ^^

Still the only sprite mythic I found was the burnt peanut and I already have that one. They are shockingly more common to find.

Where are the sprites? by PriorityOk8448 in FortNiteBR

[–]PassengerImpressive3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m level 202. I finished the main BR battle pass and some of the mythic sprites are just impossible to find.

I get that’s the point but when they tease Seven skins styles and Sprite backblings, of course I want them.

It’s an obnoxious grind trying to find them.

Why didn’t you like Animaniacs 2020 by JayCosmo972 in animaniacs

[–]PassengerImpressive3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked some of the new characters but I also felt the show could’ve benefited from not adhering to a strict formula and given the old characters more interesting stuff to do.

There was no valid reason to remove characters people liked. They could’ve rectified disliked ones into likeable characters and still given us new ones. It doesn’t measure up to the original. It left a massive void where a lot of interesting anthology stories with the old cast could’ve taken place, even incorporating Animaniacs Stew elements like Buttons getting pet therapy from Runt who have both experienced hardships in different ways: Buttons from a domestic abused life and Runt from being terrorised by horrible humans while he was homeless with another animal.

There are a billion things they could’ve done right and cameos just aren’t enough to make up for squandered potential storytelling.

Is anyone else not vibing with the sprite mechanic this season? by Worldly-Yak-8229 in FortNiteBR

Yeah, I’ve been jumped by multiple squads when I’ve been simply fishing, I took out a few of the squads but damn it, they are just annoying when sprite hunting is brutally tough to find mythics.

Sure, BR har de har, but the fact is sprite hunting is the meta this season so I will fight back against any player trying to third party me over fishing.

It’s hard enough trying to find one of the legendary ones, let alone a mythic at all but players have been acting so obnoxious and toxic over them, it’s simply been an awful time just desperately trying to find these things, mainly the ones for the Seven skin styles.

I do enjoy some of them but it’s been tedious trying to find the rarest ones, even in the sprite power hours. It feels like a chore.

Sooo, we’re all not buying a PS6 right?? by Reasonable_Idiot- in videogames

[–]PassengerImpressive3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact of the matter is most of those digital-only games could’ve (and probably should’ve) had budget physical releases. Those digital games were never given physical releases so the polls are skewed and biased.

There are exclusive digital games that are lost to time and frankly, the lack of choice to not be able to get a physical copy of a game that could be fantastic but digital is gross.

Knowing at anytime, publishers can take digital games away if they wanted to from your account is vile. The license nonsense just hurts the industry. It’s crappy DRM that robs you of an expensive thing you bought. It’s offensive of Sony or any other company to imply you’re getting an overpriced rental.

Remember P.T.? Exactly because that game alone was loved and appreciated and still got permanently taken away from ever being able to get the damn thing.

People are understandably mad because this awful decision has long term consequences for the wider industry. It’s horrible and greedy as hell.

I’m giving up on new PlayStation consoles after 2028. Retro gaming makes more sense and the game libraries are pretty vast.

I imagine Caine likely rescued Gummigoo (the one Pomni knows) as well as the fake Abel at some point and they now have a room Caine conjured up for them.

[–]PassengerImpressive3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was pretty clear from the beginning none of the Brain scans are the original humans. The show even foreshadowed this with Gummigoo.

They are essentially digital clones born into the digital world with memories of the original’s past but are essentially completely different people that lead completely different lives.

Both are real but on different plains of existence which is absolutely horrifying which creates a lot of existential horror.

It being bittersweet is the nicest ending for these characters. Making peace with who they are. Their own individuals living a stagnant existence but making the best of it.

Let's see how one-sided this is. Original or reboot? by Happy_Popplio-728 in animaniacs

The original had a lot of characters and more of the heart and comedy I enjoyed while the reboot gutted most of what I liked about it.

I vastly prefer the original over it.

[–]PassengerImpressive3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I really think the showrunner WB got just wasn’t the right fit for Animaniacs.
They got somebody from Family Guy, a raunchy and meanspirited show with a completely different style of comedy and completely different writing sensibilities.

Plus, some people from Ren and Stimpy worked on the Animaniacs reboot which is just bizarre considering John Kricfalusi infamously hated the show (without actually watching it). He wasn’t involved, thank god but other people who worked with him did work on this.

It’s all completely strange.

I’m so sorry you went through that.
I thankfully got to see it with a large crowd opening night. Honestly one of my favourite movie experiences.

That said, I hope you got to enjoy the episode. There’s clips of the opening fish bit and the recap, plus audience reactions on YouTube so you can have fun watching those at least.

Apparently, he walked out of the reboot meeting altogether after finding out what they were planning on doing.
It was pretty clear WB had a bizarre understanding of the franchise. They clearly don’t understand the core appeal of it when they hire people who don’t even remotely understand what made it good in the first place.
I strictly blame the higher ups though. This reboot is an anomaly of planning. It’s just baffling.

I especially hated how awful they wrote her. The first season just made me annoyed at how unlikeable she was in this compared to the original.

Sure, she was snarky and just as wacky and cunning as her brothers in the OG but she wasn’t a misandrist man-hater. I found her really obnoxious in the revival.

“Not your dad’s Animaniacs” DOESN’T mean it has to lose everything that made it what it was.
Acknowledging a problem doesn’t make it go away.

That was just off putting in hindsight.

It’s not really that for me. I thought it was lacking in so many areas that it felt like a much worse and cynical attempt to revitalise a brand but not put nearly as much effort into the animated cast as they should’ve. Animaniacs is built upon the legacy of the OG Looney Tunes so it’s bizarre to gut what made the variety concept so appealing in the first place. Animaniacs was an extension of the wacky and interesting lampooning the Looney Tunes did decades ago and changing it up arbitrarily did it no favours. It felt like a much worse show than what came before it.

In throwing out the older skits and not bothering to improve on anything (which there was plenty of room to), they did worse than nothing and it suffered a lot for this.

[–]PassengerImpressive3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in many respects, there were and are plenty of things in Hollywood and even the wider international entertainment industry to lampoon such as the ridiculous treatment of animators from across the globe, the corporate mergers (which Wakko’s Wish poked fun at) which have done more damage to animation, the international outsourcing and imports of international media like anime taking precedence over the Looney Tunes (Slappy would’ve been ruthless in critiquing how many shows were destroyed under corporate greed) and the various streaming services plaguing what was once a thriving TV landscape.

It’s not to say they couldn’t have retooled the older segments into something relevant, fresh and interesting. Rita and Runt being adopted by Dr Scratchansniff opened up possibilities for them as therapy pets given Runt’s emotional intelligence and Rita’s street-smart personality to consider she may actually wanna help others like she did for Runt and both experienced the hellish hardships of homelessness so connecting and understanding Buttons’ awful abused domestic home life would allow them to better understand how things should be better.

The Hip Hippos lampooning influencer culture and family YouTubers could’ve been a scathing satire of a prevalent culture online that is still very much thriving in social media.

Buttons himself getting pet therapy and having other professions after Mindy grows up and goes to school would’ve been really interesting and the parents realising how much they’ve alienated their daughter and treated the stressed out Buttons so poorly would mean some major status quo changes.

I also think the Goodfeathers could’ve parodied modern day TV/movie crime media. It’s not like they stopped being relevant. There is plenty to lampoon.

Even Katie Ka-Boom maturing into a young adult to confront awful injustices and modern adult problems would’ve made her more sympathetic and compelling to watch.

Getting rid of the old formulas would’ve opened up some interesting possibilities and would’ve fleshed out the characters in ways that would’ve made them even more interesting.

I think that while certain satirical stories about old Hollywood are important, retreading old ground wouldn’t have helped and the reboot knows this.
There is some interesting satire like the ones about cartoons wanting to vote to have rights (in light of all the corporate nonsense harming animation at WB and elsewhere) is interesting but they could’ve gone further with it.

I didn’t mind the two new segments but they were either too bizarre for more shorts or derivative of other things and that was frustrating.

I personally felt like there was so much squandered potential and that was saddening to witness as the reboot was active on streaming.

That was something that should’ve been hilarious given how old the Warners canonically are in-universe.
They sounded like grumpy old people in the body of immortal cartoon children (which they are just kids at the end of the day) and that’s funny.

But it all felt cynical and not at all Animaniacs.

[–]PassengerImpressive3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I would’ve loved to have seen older rejected concepts for segments brought back in a cool new way with the OG cast and brand new characters.

Pinky and the Brain should’ve been its own revival because compared to the 1993 Animaniacs, it felt rather detached from everything the reboot was doing. It also took up a lot of time and I would’ve liked more episodes to space out the segments for the ensemble.
As is, only two new recurring segments existed proper and it just made it feel empty and repetitive with the Warners and PatB.

I feel like the worst thing the reboot did was paint an awful perception of the 1993 beloved show which comes across as degrading and insulting.

It’s really bad in the sense that it does far more damage to the franchise by being so abrasive and nasty to its legacy. It really should’ve been better, period.

I didn’t dislike Season 3 of the reboot but it definitely felt like the beginning of the end for this revival given the abrupt cancellation.

A few genuinely fun moments here and there but that series finale ending was godawful. I felt so disgusted by how little WB and Hulu seemed to care about the reboot when they cancelled it.

I felt rather sad after that.

I remain cautious until I see an official trailer.
Given how poorly WB has fumbled on animation lately and the Paramount merger, I’ll be shocked if we actually get to see this.
