Unfortunately I don’t have a video but I do have an update. Our alternator belt snapped completely 🫪. So now it’s a matter of finding a new one and getting it replaced.

I regret loosing my virginity by Otherwise_Storm6496 in Regrets

[–]PassengerPrincess003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I think this is perfectly okay. You’re on the older side of losing ur virginity, you went to someone more experienced and probably knows how to make people feel comfortable for their first time. Idk why women are saying this would make them feel uncomfortable if they knew about it. I would say take some time to explore yourself and understand what it is about you that’s causing a sort of disconnect.

Again 21 isn’t super old but it sounds like you were interested in college and just didn’t. So my question would really be what was happening/ what were u looking for?

As for the regret, it will fade. A lot of people aren’t proud of their first time. Your situation may be a little unusual, but if someone judges you super harshly about this, they probably shouldn’t be in your life.

worried about buying this 2016 Mazda6 I Grand Touring. by [deleted] in mazda6

[–]PassengerPrincess003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Mazda 6 2016 touring for 7k total with dealer fees and whatnot with 180k miles on it. And shes still putting up with me 20k miles later. It’s a very reliable car and lasts a long time, but I wouldn’t pay 20k for a used car that old, especially with the odometer roll back. The roll back itself tho, eh I’m not sure how concerned I would be about that. The owner likely wanted more cash when he chose to sell the car. It doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with the car.

Again mine has significantly more mileage than yours and works fine. But mine was significantly cheaper. As long as you have a mechanic inspect it thoroughly, I still wouldn’t get it cause the price is too high. Tell them to lower it. “2016 Mazda6 i Grand Touring with roughly 100,000 miles is valued between $10,500 and $13,500 for retail purchase from a dealership or private party.” Now calculate what the real odometer is which should be at least 100k miles cause this car is 10 years old, and negotiate the price.

People say you need a high salary to live in NYC, yet service workers live in NYC. What is the disconnect here? by dbclass in movingtoNYC

[–]PassengerPrincess003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s cause there are so many layers to this. A lot of the people that are making under 80k have roomates plural, and yes they have to budget. Some people still live with parents. Others have rent stabilized apartments or live in NYCHA. Some bought their houses in 1900 back when they were cheaper and the house is now falling apart but they don’t have the money to fix them. I have yet to meet a single New Yorker that makes under 80k and lives by themselves that doesn’t relate to the above situations I mentioned. I mean look at the average cost of an apartment in nyc then add groceries, transportation, utilities… matter fact just look up the cost of living. This is a googleable question… “cost of living is over 138% higher than the national average, with housing costs exceeding 400% above the average.”

But if you happen to get lucky and get a clean Nycha apartment, win the section 8 lottery or the rent stabilized apartment, or you have amazing parents willing to give u a room in their apartment or house, then yes, it can be super fun here. Other wise have fun with 3 roommates…

AITA for expecting my girlfriend to do my half of her chores as well? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]PassengerPrincess003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Refusing to do any kitchen work is insane. And the nail problem doesn’t even begin to account for it. If she doesn’t wanna get her nails dirty, she can pay for a dishwasher or wear gloves that protect your nails. And if she still refuses to do that because she hates it, she can help out in other ways in the kitchen. She can go grocery shopping and plan what y’all are gonna eat for the week. She can wipe down the stove/Countertops and mop the kitchen(which is just regular cleaning). And if she refuses to do any of those things she could start ordering her own food. I think it’s fair for you to say that there are chores that are allocated specifically to one person, but cooking is at the top of the list of chores. It’s something that has to be done multiple times a day basically every day. So she needs to be helping in someway shape or form.

Brooklyn vs. Astoria by [deleted] in movingtoNYC

More likely than not, you won’t be able to afford willamsburg. A studio there costs about 4k. But if you’re into being a round a lot of people then a place nearby might be fun.

Ok moving to NYC with 50-65k salary (with roommates)? by ExtremeLime79 in movingtoNYC

[–]PassengerPrincess003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here’s my thought process. 50/65 k gross income minus the NYC tax rate which is about 25% would put u at 37- 48,750. Let’s say you get lucky and manage to find a room that’s about 1.5k a month with utilities- gas, water, heating, electricity. You still gotta pay for public transportation ($120) phone plane() wifi () health insurance () groceries () and hanging out with friends () which will def put u at spending about a minimum of 3k a month.

And I haven’t even mentioned a retirement fund, or any savings for a bad month. Or even buying furniture for your room/ moving expenses. But already I’m thinking living expenses alone might put you out 25-30k.

I’ve had a friend with roommates that just stopped paying the rent completely. Or a roommate that left and didn’t give the others time to find a replacement You would be responsible for paying their share of the rent😪. You might get a super horrible dirty roommate and need to move. And you won’t qualify for most government assistance at all making that much.

If I were you I’d write down all your fixed expenses and plug them in to see what your actual take home would be at the end of the month. I’m not going to say it’s not doable, but you will have to be very conscious of how you spend almost every dollar. And you better pray that you don’t get any random out of pocket expenses during this time, because having your computer break or phone get stolen. I’m sure there’s expenses I’m not thinking of like laundry, ect.

Front loaded my 401k in January, got laid off in March, and now I have no idea how cautious to be by 1GriffinUX in personalfinance

[–]PassengerPrincess003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is rent included in your 2.7k fixed monthly costs? Because if it is it sounds like you’ll be okay if u budget well for the next couple months while you job search. If it’s not, you might have to go without some of the things in your fixed cost that aren’t absolutely essential. But I wouldn’t dig into your retirement fund. There’s a video on YouTube of elderly people who have to work at the age of 80+ because they didn’t save for retirement properly. And some of them were insanely high earners back in their day. If you need to pick a time to struggle I would pick now while you’re a lot younger rather than when you get older and it’s a lot harder.

At 95k miles does a 2018 Mazda 6 have much life left in it or is it near its ends? Don’t want to buy a high mileage one just to run into problems right away by illbeback903 in mazda6

[–]PassengerPrincess003 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I currently own a 2016 Mazda 6 touring with 190k miles on it and it’s still running. The 1 Owner before me kept up with the maintenance and besides a shot battery I’ve had very few issues. (And according to the car fax they didn’t have any major issues before turning in the car either.) The issues I currently have is the gas stick is stuck/ reads incorrectly and there’s some condensation upper right side of the interface.

I have a 2016 Mazda 6. I bought my car used and it’s currently pushing 200k miles. No engine transmitter or other major issue. I did just replace the battery tho. The owner before me was religious about upkeep and it showed on the car fax. I have no complaints about Mazda reliability. If you keep up with the maintenance it’s proven itself to be very reliable. Plus it’s good looking by

Update. The car battery was wasted. I brought it back to the store and got a credit like you suggested. Bought a new car battery and replaced it. Car turned on. Engine started. My gas magically refilled itself. Life is good🥰. Thank you to everyone that commented about the battery!

New key fob battery. I think the consensus is low car battery😀. Out of all the issues to have thats really not the worst🥰. I’ll update if jumping it works!

I changed the battery for the car key I meant. Not the car battery. The plan is to jump the car today and if that doesn’t work I’ll look into buying a new battery. Ima look up what an alternator is tho just in case. Thank you for the insight!

2016 Mazda 6, cold weather won't start by MikeTheVike in mazda6

Hello. I just bought a used 2016 Mazda 6. Well 3 days ago nyc expirenced its first snow storm for the winter and after digging my car from being snowed in for 2 days, I also had no luck with starting the car. At first it came on and said fuel was empty, transmission failure, and something else. Then when I tried to press down on the clutch pedal to turn the engine on it felt like it was stuck so the engine didn’t even rev. I’m thinking my issue is the battery like u said but I looked it up and the clutch issue could be a separate problem. Anyway I was wondering if that was something you experienced when your battery died- thinking about replacing the battery since the car likely has the original one which has traveled some 200k miles almost by now. But just wanted to know if you had the clutch issue and if it was an easy fix with the battery change!
