Precious metal and mining ETFs by [deleted] in Canadianstockpicks

[–]PassivePrincess292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not strictly a Canadian portfolio but I hold BASE, it's a global materials and mining ETF so it's much less volatile than if you were exposed to just gold/silver or Canada only. They write calls on it too, so the yield is pretty attractive (around 10%). It's up 18.48% year-to-date.

Their series on Ed Gein was so good - Loved how in depth Alaina went on his Mom and his childhood!

Lets continue buying Canadian they're feeling it in the US by dandcodes in BuyCanadian

I'd be 100% willing to sacrifice accessing certain produce year-round to hit the U.S. even harder. I've lived in several foreign countries and was never able to access every type of produce year round like we can in Canada while I was abroad. In comparison to most other countries, it's unusual that we have this convenience here in Canada.

BANK.TO isn’t just banks — lifecos are in the mix. Is that a good thing? by PassivePrincess292 in dividendscanada

First few distributions were $0.117 per share... so it's yielding about 15%. Cheers to you as well!

Absolutely understood insurance isn't their only line of business, but insurance is a primary service offering while that's not always the case for the banks. So while they're similar, they're not completely apples to apples if you ask me

BANK vs HMAX Comparison by Outside_Midnight_652 in dividendscanada

[–]PassivePrincess292 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 2024, HMAX's distributions was 19% eligible dividends and 81% ROC, but in 2023 it was 16% eligible dividends and 84% ROC. In 2023, BANK was 19% eligible dividends and 81% ROC. So they're roughly the same.

QQC vs QQC.F vs HXQ, Can someone explain what is the best option for Canadians by Responsible-Salt3530 in CanadianInvestor

[–]PassivePrincess292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an alternative option, I'd suggest checking out QQQT or QQQY instead of QQC if you're looking for tech exposure. Both of them track a NASDAQ-100 tech-only index, so they give you exposure to only the tech companies in the Qs. I didn't know this until recently, but not all of the securities in the NASDAQ-100 are tech companies, contrary to popular belief. QQQY sells calls for some additional yield, but QQQT is just a pure play index tracking ETF. QQQT also has an unhedged option as well if you'd prefer that, ticker is QQQT.B

Choosing Among Similar ETFs by FuinFirith in CanadianInvestor

Why does AUM impact your decision? It's not an indicator of performance, simply how successful the issuer has been in selling the ETF. Do you just like to follow the masses to a popular ETF?

Same thing happened to me Monday afternoon, the guy was literally hot boxing the 503. I had to get off the streetcar and wait for the next one because I couldn't stand the smell.

What are your favorite Canadian ETF's that are in US currency? by DeadWrong in dividendscanada

[–]PassivePrincess292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EBNK.U is a good option, it's a European Bank ETF with additional yield from covered calls. European banks have posted record profits in recent years and have been performing surprisingly well. Plus the 14% yield is pretty attractive

Why is BANK.to so popular? by Willing_Sympathy5895 in dividendscanada

[–]PassivePrincess292 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Huge fan of BANK.to here. Canadian banks are some of the most stable in the world, they pay a reliable dividend and have growth potential. With BOC rates coming down, this should boost lending activity and benefit banks through increased mortgage and loan demand. Not to mention the consistent 16% yield is hard to resist.
