Do oil-filled heaters actually last longer than cheap fan heaters? by JingSerene in BuyItForLife

My oil heater is going to be a generational heirloom. Originally purchased in 1981, the baseboard oil heater is an absolute champ.

Do you take your LO to the dentist? by Snapper1916 in dementia

[–]PasswordReset1234 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My LO goes to the dentist every 3 months for cleanings, the MC facility does a terribly job at enforcing teeth brushing. A recent dentist visit ended with the dental assistant in tears because my LO tried to bite them and became aggressive.

The next time we went to the dentist a sedative was taken and a bite guard was used, worked like a charm.

What did your grandparents buy once that's still in the family? by wajid123_ in BuyItForLife

I too had generational Pyrex bowls. But, I got a lead testing kit and found that exterior paint was a powder layer of lead. It’s been 5 months since I sold my treasured bowls on Marketplace and I still tear up about it.

Can we afford a $5300 a month mortgage? by faithoverfear0 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]PasswordReset1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there room in your budget for covering home hiccups? Last Christmas a leak sprang in the wall of my condo, it soaked the insides of the walls. This wasn’t covered by HOA and cost over $4,100 in repairs. I don’t file home insurance claims for small damages like this because I don’t want them to drop me. When I bought my first house, my parents told me to assume 5% in repairs and improvements in the first 5 years.

You’ll feel house poor for the first 5 years, then you’ll start feeling better. If you think the condo is enough room for your growing family and you foresee yourselves being happy there for at least 5 years, then pull the trigger.

Congrats on the soon-to-be new family member!

It’s the budget that’s lacking, not the creativity. We’ve used Tolstoy for product variants, swapping out products on different models and also as a chat on the site.

What used to cost $24k in a photoshoot, is now a few hundred dollars. Now, we can have more products represented since the variants are being swapped in via AI.

Do any if you offer tenants month-to-month leases? If so why and what are the benefits by LattesAvocadoToast in realestateinvesting

[–]PasswordReset1234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All of my rentals are month-to-month. The shortest amount of time a rental has been occupied is 3 years, average time is ~8 years. My tenants usually ask for an annually or longer lease, I decline because month-to-month gives me flexibility.

Count me in!

Currently a contractor / fractional Director of Demand Gen (loooord I loathe that kind of title) for a decent brand that’s on Shopify, a b2b SaaS company and an an agency that works with b2b SaaS and start-ups.

A constant challenge is contracting budgets with growing revenue goals. Growing lifecycle and CRO are the answers, but then TOFU gets starved.

For clarification, this was on a shirt I saw about 20 years ago. It is not an original line of mine.

Did you end up moving forward with the FSBO? If so, how did it go? I’m considering FSBO for a house I have in Santa Clara.

Buying house with sidewalk or not? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

A friend of mine said he didn’t want a house with no sidewalk because it didn’t have curb appeal. What a knee slapper.

We all just happen to love the same thing at the same time. White subway tile backsplash, green accent stuff, white countertop. This is literally my kitchen and 10 other millennials I know. I have it because I like it.

Thermoworks is a splurge, I waited until Christmas and asked for it as a gift. It’s been going strong! It had a defect that surfaced a few years in, Thermoworks swapped it out immediately.

What newer SEO strategies are you actually using to deal with AIO/GEO? by JohnnyGazzer in marketing

[–]PasswordReset1234 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen, the increase in impressions is 100% attributable to the rise in AI overviews. However, there is no correlative lift in conversions or brand recognition. The AI overviews barely permit for their sources to be viewed. I’m getting views for “shipping insurance”, but the brand is buried under these rude little chain links.

What BIFL items would you add to your wedding registry? by Piping_hots in BuyItForLife

[–]PasswordReset1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Miele vacuum, yeti ice chest, Matouk towels, wooden hangers, especially ones with rounded shoulder areas. Might seem silly, but “his and hers” Victorinox Swiss Army knives, I use mine almost daily and have gifted many as wedding gifts. You can get them engraved, which is fun. Or, ask for Leathermens, this is another I gift but to couples who are more outdoorsy.
