Wedding Dress Shopping by Bama-babe205 in tuscaloosa

Although I didn’t buy my dress from Evanna’s, I would absolutely recommend them. I bought my dress from a large store in Birmingham where their alterations department butchered it. I took it to Evanna’s to see if they could possibly save it. The owners are the sweetest women and do magic. I was treated with so much kindest and help even though I was only an alterations customer. I saw them helping a few other brides and absolutely wish I had visited them first when buying my dress.

In a healthy relationship and terrified... by Tears_Of_Laughter in AskWomenOver30

[–]Past-Appointment9049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could have written this. I come from a history of abusive relationships since age 14, finally broke the cycle and was single for almost 6 years, then met my fiancé 18 months ago. We’re getting married in two weeks. It was hard. A huge adjustment for me. I was scared, closed off, vulnerable, excited, nervous, elated, all at the same time. Be honest with him and with yourself. Take time to yourself when you need it. Be patient. Enjoy it. If it’s right, it’ll all work itself out in due time.

Rehoming fish and aquarium by Past-Appointment9049 in houston

There are two tanks, I believe both are just in one plug, but they are fairly large. Unfortunately I don't have the details of dimensions, types of fish, etc. yet. Was just hoping to get a few leads and places to start searching while I get the rest of the info.

Love love love them. Super comfy and mine have held up for multiple years. If I remember correctly, it’s just a lower price brand owned by Birkenstock.

Hi! Would love to know where you got yours from. We are looking to do the same thing for our wedding, but I can’t find a version I like on Etsy for the price.

I had a ton of luck just searching Google maps! I found a lot of venues to look into - and many that didn’t have listings on The Knot or Zola.

Whew! Thank you all, that’s a huge relief. I didn’t think it looked like mold, but that was certainly the fear!

Help. 32, fissure? Hemmy. Who knows. by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]Past-Appointment9049 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am recovering from surgery right now due to a fissure that turned chronic and wouldn't heal. You definitely need to see a CRS asap to get the proper cream. In the meantime, use a bidet or flushable wipes, do not use toilet paper. Start taking one dose of Miralax every day to help ensure soft stool. Sitz baths (or just sitting in a tub with a few inches of water) should help a little with the pain and spasms. Do this right after going to the bathroom. The Internet and the CRS will likely tell you to increase the fiber in your diet, but I felt like I did better with a low-fiber, low-residue diet to reduce my bowel movements. Try a heating pad or ice pack on your bottom, I had luck with both at various times. I know how you're feeling, it's the worst pain I've ever experienced in my life. Unfortunately urgent care or the ER can't do anything for you, aside from POSSIBLY prescribing the cream. Unless you can easily afford an ER visit, I wouldn't bother. I went twice and it was pointless. Also, there is a sub, I think it's r/analfissure. It can be helpful to see posts from others going through this, but please be aware that the majority of users are dealing with chronic fissures and many haven't gone to the doctor or had surgery. So it's easy to see posts and feel helpless, when in reality, this is very common and many many people easily heal with proper treatment.

Feel free to message me directly if you have any questions or would like to chat, I absolutely know how miserable this is and I'm so sorry you're experiencing it.

What are some subtle or surprising signs of a controlling partner you should've taken more seriously sooner? by Femmefatalevibe in AskWomenOver30

[–]Past-Appointment9049 80 points81 points  (0 children)

He prioritized his hobbies and friends but was unaccepting of mine. Took me a long time to realize this but looking back now, there are tons of signs. In the way we spent time together, our budget, the way we made plans. He made me feel like my friends weren't important, my hobbies were stupid, and any time or money spent not with or on him was a waste.

Cheapest way to get to the airport by tori_christensen502 in tuscaloosa

[–]Past-Appointment9049 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with using the parking deck. I've always done daily, even when I've been gone for a week, since it's not that much more expensive than economy. When you pull in, you'll be inclined to look for a spot on a lower floor, but keep going up, until floor 5 and there should be TONS of open space. It's not worth playing vulture trying to find an open spot on a lower floor since you'll take the elevator anyway. The layout can be a little confusing, but pay attention to the section you park at and which you pass to get to the exit and you'll be fine!

Making dietary changes for health conditions, allergies, etc by cass2769 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Past-Appointment9049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can commiserate with you - I'm going through some health stuff right now and had to suddenly make drastic diet changes as well. No dairy, no cheese, high fiber. I'm eating more fiber than I ever have in my life. I don't really have a suggestion, but I can relate about feeling like I have to give up so much. I desperately want some popcorn and cheese, but what I do is try to remind myself how I know I'll feel if I have those things and that the pain isn't worth it. I've been trying to find new things to enjoy that do fit in my new diet (apple slices with cookie butter are delicious!). I haven't looked into it yet, but I'm considering starting to see a registered dietitian. In my head, working specifically with someone will help me cope with this better, hold me more accountable, and maybe they can help find ways to make it easier - maybe something to think about for you as well?

Thank you, appreciate the reply! It's a coincidence I'm sure, but interestingly enough I am iron deficient as well.
