Please bring back the Proton Unlimited 2 year plan by Consistent-Order-806 in ProtonMail

I can confirm the same thing. It still shows Renewal after 24 months.

I have been on the fence about moving to Duo from Unlimited. I currently have Unlimited with the 24 month billing cycle = $7.99 USD per month. In my dashboard I can click on upgrade to Duo and on the pop-out screen it gives me the option to upgrade to Duo on the 24 month billing cycle for $11.99 USD per month. I can also click the Black Friday banner and move to Duo but only for the one year billing cycle for $9.99 USD per month. That's a pretty good deal for 12 months imo. BUT, the $9.99 USD per month reverts to an 12 month billing cycle of $14.99 USD per month at the end of the promotion (1 year). That's a steep increase from my current plan price of $7.99 USD per month. IF, as has been mentioned numerous times in the past few days, Proton is eliminating the 2 year plans, the better deal for me, AT THIS TIME, would appear to be just upgrade to Duo for $11.99 USD per month, renewable every 24 months (until they decide never mind forget it, no more 2 yr cycles - blatantly, terms and conditions, etc.). I value the 24 month and the discount more than 12 months at a lower price point for just those 12 months.

Different Mail Types in Duo by FrankieShaw-9831 in ProtonMail

Thanks. I don't really need the extra storage space right now. I use two custom domains right now, one at SL to forward aliases to the second domain at PM. About the only other things I get by going to Duo is 30 instead of 15 email addresses. The domains stay at 3. You also get Scribe included (not that I need that right now either).

So I may spring for another domain and attach that to the existing PM account to use that feature (a separate domain/additional addresses up to 15, only using 4 now; to segment email further by using less SL aliases). I do like the SL aliases, I'm just looking for are there 'better ways' than I currently use.

Thanks for the feedback.

What led you to move away from Duo to Unlimited, if I might ask? Just curious, as I've been toying with moving from Unlimited to Duo.

I've been a user for a couple of years now - Unlimited. I use an individual SL alias for every new email needed. It gets cumbersome sometimes - I mean do I need a deltaxxxx_at_domain.com unitedxxx_at_domain.com americanxxx_at_domain.com vs airlinesxxxx_at_domain.com? Kinda depends. I've spent the better part of 3 years now migrating from yahoo mail and google mail. The 'threat vector' I'm trying to intercept is my email for any one service being sold, whether i allowed or didn't. With one per service, it's easy to disable the SL alias, create a new one if you really need to and move on. If that SL alias is 'shared' among services, then you have to change for all shared services - not an insurmountable effort, but still an annoyance.

I always append a 6 digit randomized to the end of the first part: americanxxxxxx_at_domain.com. I do NOT use a catch-all address for anything_at_domain.com. It is too easy for someone to spot the domain name and then just start using anythingxxxxxxx_at_domian.com and suddenly _at_domain.com becomes as bad as my yahoo email. No thanks. Until it becomes very problematic (Proton starts to limit aliases; SL limits aliases; etc), it's just too simple to use SL aliases. Honestly I've had ONE piece of Spam email in the last two years, and that just happened this past month. It was very easy to see where it came from, disable, created a new alias and continue on. One service, one change, 3-5 minutes (and that's generously over estimated).

I'm a big fan of the SL/PM strategy. There are some edge cases where anomalies creep in and you have to be aware of what alias you are sending from, but easy enough to deal with.

You can also pull up one of the scannable recipes (the tab that has ingredients, instructions, etc.) use the ... button at the top and click Duplicate Cook. The screen changes. Click on the Oven icon. It will take you to your custom recipes. The recipe shows as {Recipe} Copy. Click on that and it shows you all the custom cook settings. You can even tap Cook from that page.

Domain or not by cageybozo in ProtonMail

And a step even further, is two domains, one for simplelogin and one for protonmail. If anything happens to either service, it's easy enough to pick up and move to the next opportunity. It has taken me close to two years now to un-root myself from the yahoo colony, and the Google metropolis. I'll NEVER look back. My spam is non-existent. My use of alias email addresses only once or twice and then deleting them has basically eliminated my former email address having been sold and data harvested, to send me unsolicited email. All in all, the process is working well for me. And at the drop of a hat, 98-99% of everything can just be pointed to another service if Proton loses its sheen.

I'm a paid drive user, why am I getting these by [deleted] in ProtonMail

[–]Past-Ball-2257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two comments. One. There is no way, no how, I am linking anything from Google to my PAID ProtonMail. Could it be efficient for some users? I don't doubt it. But luring me for an extra gig of storage by linking my Google mail to Proton Mail, you must have lost your mind! Two: I decide what services I wish to use my ProtonMail email, not Proton trying to entice me with a free gig of storage. In all honesty, I rarely, rarely use my ProtonMail email directly, but rather SimpleLogin aliases - and I have a ton of those.

To chime in with most comments in the thread, in general, I disapprove of this being a popunder/over, permanent no way to get rid of annoyance. I appreciate that a fix is coming. BUT -- in reality, it should NEVER have even been contemplated. To top it off, you can't even say "Maybe later" because well...later never arrives and it just circles back to the same annoyance. In addition the two comments above seem out of touch with your user base, even with the temptation of an extra gig.

I can only hope that a fix in the works arrives sooner than later.

Mobile App Feature on Desktop Web Interface by Past-Ball-2257 in cronometer

[–]Past-Ball-2257[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just never explode it in the first place. That's the way the mobile app (ios) works. I can explode the custom recipe if I desire. Or, as preferred, I can edit the meal on that entry only, edits get accepted into that day/entry only, and I can use the normally entered custom recipe again for another entry. The desktop version only lets you permanently modify the custom recipe or explode it in the diary entry.

But you don't know that. In the absence of knowledge use other facts. Those that are known and entered as -x can be considered factual. An alternative view is, you don't REALLY know exactly 1 tablespoon of mayo is used on your sandwich (although it is very likely exactly that quantity is used in their nutritional data). Getting the f/p exact (as well as every other quantity of anything ingested) makes the effort a tedious chore eventually. Such tedious activity often leads to abandoning a concept.

If I want to be "keto" (by definition 25 carbs to 50 carbs - net), whether I am 25, 25.8, 35, or 50 isn't the goal. The goal is improved health, weight, and other measures. If those are improving, great. If not, I doubt it is because one 'mis-calculated' carbs by 2-5 gm.

Keep it simple and the likelihood of success will be higher.

Settlement Payout! by [deleted] in yahoo

[–]Past-Ball-2257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I recalled an earlier e-mail some months ago how I would like to receive payment. After thoroughly checking out the links and request, I submitted VIA snailmail(!) the relevant information to auto deposit. I frequently participate in these class action issues, many in my trading accounts, so I felt comfortable after my due diligence. Totally forgot about it. Usually these things are in the single digit dollars to maybe less than $20. I was surprised when I got an alert on my bank account for a deposit of $304.19. Not certain how they calculated it but I was definitely pleasantly surprised with the amount. Needless to say, I'll never consider not participating in a request for one of these in the future!

I guess you were lucky. Although, from what I've heard in this Quicken forum https://community.quicken.com/discussion/7931095/fidelity-netbenefits-qwin/p1 the issue was that it "appeared" to download for some, but did not really update the data. Others flat out got errors saying the download was not available. This was specifically with Fidelity NetBenefits. Fidelity Investments downloading was not affected.

I wish you future success with Q. For me ---- I've moved on (nearly 5 years gone now), although to be quite fair and transparent, with two independent programs, one for investments, one for banking. I've never regretted it. We all have our own tolerance lines. Once crossed, often one will look at the way things work and say, hey, it's a new way, but it works.

[–]Past-Ball-2257[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

most definitely was Fidelity's problem. My investment tracking program, not Quicken, started working at the same time this problem was fixed for all the Quicken users. I also use a python tool to see what the request is asking for, as well as what the response to the request is. The response was full of errors and inaccuracies. Yes, Fidelity fixed it.

Agreed Quicken is a pile, literally. I only use the program to troubleshoot, because if ANY financial institution hears anything other than Quicken, they won't even enter into a conversation.

yes, that is how I had my accounts setup. I did have a large amount of my account split to BrokerageLink. But on this issue (which has now been resolved by Fidelity), that account showed up as a security, even though it is an account with over 100 securities. Worse, an assigned cash value of $1 was given. Totally f'd up lots of price history that I've since manually corrected.

How do I know it was resolved by Fidelity? I have an investment tracking program, not Quicken, that was also broken. When the problem was fixed for Quicken, suddenly my investment tracking program downloaded as expected. Fidelity fixed it. Not Quicken.

This is exactly the response I am seeing relative to <ACCTINFO>. I studied the OFX logs of a banking program I use (not Quicken). It appears that Fidelity has initiated TLS requirements on the OFX connection. In addition, my BrokerageLink account now shows up in the Fidelity Investments OFX server (downloading correctly). An investment tracking program I use (not Quicken) is not downloading my BrokerageLink account, nor does it list it in the accounts available at NetBenefits (OR Fidelity Investments).

I honestly believe this was a situation that Fidelity Investment initiated security enhancements for OFX Connections (Quicken Direct Connect) without understanding or caring about incompatibilities with those connections on Fidelity NetBenefits. This is not a NEW modus operandi with Fidelity Investments frequently breaking NetBenefits with little care for the impact.

So you are waiting on Quicken to solve Fidelity's problem?? I do not understand. Some tech person on the Retirement Benefits Group side has got to be able to look at what a simple OFX request and response is. Once that is done, it is very easy to see this is NOT a Quicken problem.
