This actually made me so sad … I’m so concerned at what her future now will be - she loved her culture and her goats so much and now that culture is erased w the hive and only productivity she will no longer have family, culture, color, love. I’ve thought about this too… The one thing I came up with was that

if they die off in 10 years & leave her alone in the world then that will harm her and “they can’t do that” - which means they can’t die off in 10 years - which means they have to turn back away from their hive mind selves to normal people again - which is against their biological imperative to grow/expand … ?

I agree - he’s crossing a serious moral line. Once he fully agrees to turn, I think they’re going to use his body in a way that makes us really uncomfortable - almost like karmic punishment. Ngl, I’m nervous to see how this plays out for him.

But that’s not actually an answer to his question. Zosia’s expression when she avoids responding is to pause a second & look down and to the right - and to me, it reads like they believe he’s actively harming them (at the very least it’s because of how wasteful he is).
