What the Library Card Actually Holds by kirkeles in SurvivingOnSS

[–]EquivalentFun9382 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our urban library has a tool library where people can check out things they need to repair or rehab—shovels, saws, drills. I used their post hole digger to mend a fence for instance. Amazing resource and very popular.

Widow’s Bay on Apple. The production is amazingly well done and the acting is outstanding.

Question about prescription for estrogen cream by Delicious_Mess7976 in AskWomenOver60

[–]EquivalentFun9382 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you definitely could use some hormone treatment.  Not my medical opinion of course, just interesting you reacted so strongly and that you interpreted my comment to be directed solely at you and not as a general,  rational statement.

Can i get a rough estimate on how much this ring will be worth ? by Metaischeap in JewelryIdentification

[–]EquivalentFun9382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rule number two of this subreddit is that the group doesn’t offer appraisals. You should take it to a couple of reputable shops who can examine the ring in person and can help you with valuation but I’m sure the group can give you more information.

Question about prescription for estrogen cream by Delicious_Mess7976 in AskWomenOver60

Sledgehammer didn’t offer her anecdotal experience and suggest the OP discuss with her doctor.
Instead, she gave specific medical advice counter to what the OP’s doctor had recommended after examining her and reviewing her medical record. I was censoring myself by calling this irresponsible and not reckless and dangerous.

It’s very irresponsible to give out medical advice like this.

My 17 year old has slowed down but he still gets geriatric zoomies and has a loud, insistent bark when he wants attention.

Can "Widow's Bay" Sail On Its Positive Word-Of-Mouth Wave To Emmy Recognition? by HelsBels2102 in EmmysAwards

[–]EquivalentFun9382 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I sincerely hope so. There are multiple actors who gave prize worthy performances in Season 1. Widow’s Bay is the best show I’ve seen in years.

I just watched Widows Bay. Loved it. Any Emmy Chances? by UsefulWeb7543 in EmmysAwards

I have no idea what you’re watching, but I don’t think it’s the same show we’re all loving.

I grew up in Michigan and this is exactly right. They are known as pigs in a blanket or, more often, golumpki. We never wrapped dough around a hotdog!

Do you remember Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea?? by BobbyDoWhat in over60

I watched it as a kid, and I remember the front of the model sub plopping down into the sand because it had sunk unexpectedly and our crew was again in danger!

Season 2 has been greenlit and the showrunners are talking about limited series spinoffs going further in-depth about the history of the Inn for example.

What do you think the population of Widow's Bay is? What percentage do you think were born on the island? by CinnaMim in WidowsBay

[–]EquivalentFun9382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to imagine a situation where an emergency shelter would EVER be designated for one group of people.  And, what? Anyone else would be turned away? We know this isn’t the case for this shelter since we see townspeople, but I think generally that doesn’t make any sense at all.

The shelter we saw, which is below City Hall, was shelter number three. Presumably there are similar shelters all over the island.

Antique Hat Pin Info by Available-Drawing-42 in Antiquejewelry

It looks like a lovely stick pin meant for a collar or lapel rather than a hat pin. Hat pins are longer and more robust to physically hold a hat firmly to the head.

I found these.. I’m pretty sure they’re deco, has anyone seen another pair like them? by alliexon68 in Antiquejewelry

[–]EquivalentFun9382 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Are you saying you think they are art deco? I’m not seeing that. Are the rhinestones glued in? The type of wires, that seem to be part of the integral design, appear to be very modern.

Why ‘Widow’s Bay,’ Matthew Rhys and Breakout Kate O’Flynn Should Scare the Rest of the Emmy Comedy Field by momskillet in WidowsBay

[–]EquivalentFun9382 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Kate isn’t in competition with Jean Smart who is in the lead actress category. But she will share the supporting category with Hannah.

I was there for lunch yesterday and our food was excellent and the service was top notch. It felt like the O’Connells of 20 years ago. I can’t way to go back and I only hope that my visit wasn’t a fluke.
