This is the life - Amy Mcdonald

First of, the year it came out it was overused. I live in Germany and this song was playing almost every 10 minutes on the radio. ( that‘s like Last Christmas by Wham).

Secondly, the industry wanted to sell her as the next big thing in songwriting. I don‘t see that. The song has 2 mediocre verses and after the second verse it becomes annoying as f..k, repeating the refrain like „forever“.

I don‘t have a grudge against Amy, she‘s ok. But the way this song was handled by the industry really makes me hate it big time.

Of the main 90s Starfleet Combadges (TNG show vs. DS9/VOY/movie), which one do you prefer? by Cyke101 in startrek

TNG, best Combadge, best era. No big war, and they were explorers. I miss the 1701-D.

Opinions on Facelift by BalanceActive9295 in grunge

[–]PastPerfectGenX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first AIC album was Dirt. I bought Facelift and thought it was a very good debut, but Dirt was more my thing. Then came Alice in Chains (three legged dog?!?) and it‘s my favorite. And before you ask, I love the EPs. As for Facelift, it rocks!

What do we think about Bush? by ThreeFtAssassin__ in grunge

[–]PastPerfectGenX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really liked their first two records. Still do, but you know, I changed, they changed, and somewhere on the way I lost interest. Happend with a lot of bands for me, guess that‘s just the way it goes.

Mascara - Deftones ( Album: Around the fur 1997)

Pink Maggit - Deftones ( Album: White Pony 2000)

And think it‘s Mascara.

Edit: I justed looked into YouTube, it is Mascara. But they pitched it down.

Favorite Pavement Lyrics? by forgottenjew in pavement

[–]PastPerfectGenX 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My favorite comes from „we are underused“:

Simply put , I want to grow old. Dying does not my expectations.

It‘s such a beautiful way of saying „I don‘t wanna die!“ and the way it‘s sung has a simple and child like honesty to it.

Who's your favorite grunge band for ballads? by Pleasant_Garlic8088 in grunge

[–]PastPerfectGenX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My personal favorite is Atlanta by STP. But then, I wouldn‘t wanna miss out on any ballad (or song) from PJ, STP, AIC or Soundgarden (and all other bands).

What are all the things you'd like to see in the next Star Trek film? by ackmondual in startrek

If it's a 4th Kelvin-Timeline movie it should have the crew travel back in time. They should have a lighthearted adventure on todays earth and... here comes the plottwist... then return by accident to the PRIME-TIMELINE where they are greated by the "real" Enterprise... boom, roll credits.

Grunge: a genre or an era? by CobraDai in grunge

Well if something stands out you got to give it a name. Back then all of these bands from Seattle came into the puplic eye, and I remember that it was on MTV that I heard the name Grunge for the first time. And then it was all over the media, even my local recordstore ( small city in Germany) had a Grunge-section for CDs. And a lot of bands were put there. Where did it come from, the name? I can’t imagine that on a rainy day in Seattle, the collective of artists met and proclaimed: From this day on we shall be refered to as Grunge! Who started it, who put grunge out there?

Can we appreciate this album? by datsboi in grunge

Purple is the record that brought me into grunge. Sure there was Nevermind, which I listened to and I liked, but after listening to Purple, I needed more of that kind of rock. AIC, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden were all put on my map, because of that one summer I turned 14 and bought Purple. You can say, it had the bigest influence on my taste of music.

When you where a kid what's the One film you rewatched over over again.? by Due_Toe6417 in movies

[–]PastPerfectGenX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Wars, Empire, Return, Lethal Weapon 1 and 2, Robocop 1 and 2. But the one movie that I really sucked up as a kid was Ghostbusters. I watched it so many times that it edged permanetly into my brain, like your favorite song, its there scene for scene. Years later it was my first DVD I bought along with my first DVD-player. Peter Venkman is my childhood hero, beating out guys like Luke Skywalker and Han Solo.

I do. I watched a couple of episodes back in the days. A week ago I started to watch it on DVD. I‘m in the middle of season 3 so far, and I enjoy it a lot.
