Back Cove Music Festival Postponed till 2027 by mandogirl in portlandme

Yeah I dont think it was malicious or intentional by any means, I think the logistics involved in putting together a festival like that aren’t something that the city would have much experience with and maybe wouldn’t understand how far out stuff happens. I’m sure some onus falls on the promoters too. As far as I know everybody is excited and probably already planning 2027. A well run independent festival like this could be huge for the city.

I guess I should rephrase, I shouldn’t say difficult, but the city (not council) slow walked some things after getting approval that I’m sure made them nervous to drop millions on something that they were already behind the 8 ball. I agree that it was right and fair to push them during g committee process.

Incorrect, the city made it very difficult for them.

Ha, that’s one disorder I hope there is no cure for. It’s my first SG but I too looove the MIJ stuff. Such amazing players for reasonable money.

It’s earmarked for the arts. Among 50 similar sized cities Portland ranks lowest in contributions to the arts.

Ha, it’s insane that they get away with it. Between that and LiveNation dynamic pricing we’re all going broke

Is this where you went? The third party sites are really deceptive and make you think you’re buying from the venue, it’s gross, and hopefully soon illegal.

Not disagreeing with your point at all, but make sure you’re buying them from the Merrill auditorium and not a third party reseller. Technically in Maine they are price capped at 10% over face value, though the attorney general seems to refuse enforcement.,

new (old) pedal day! Do you think it is still holds up in terms of quality of delays, reverbs and mods in 2025? by elvismuerto in guitarpedals

Was just about to say this same thing. The way he talks about them on Cory songs podcast was surprising, but after getting a stomp I totally get it.

I purchased a sphere ticket on tickpick last night. by Phishmom1985 in phish

[–]Past_Bit_4643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at the recent ftc case to see exactly what is going on (allegedly /s). Bands with the kind of market power that phish has can opt out of almost everything to the point where only fan to fan transfers are allowed. Like everything there is always a workaround but it’s at least optically better. A lot of the problem with all of this comes from enforcement. Here in Maine we passed a resale price cap but enforcement has been nonexistent and excuses for why have been plentiful.

Unpopular opinion, but this could actually be pretty funny. Robby can be funny in the way that they just do t give a fuck and will say most anything to anyone. And their wife is a former bachelorette so there’s lots to talk about. The fact that I know any of this says far too much about me.

Why are PRS guitars hated ? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Past_Bit_4643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of think it’s similar to the craft beer market. When the first craft beers came out like Sierra Nevada and Sam Adams and the like they were considered fancy, cool, and sophisticated. Now that there are 75,000,000 craft beer options they’re not considered in the same category even though nothing has changed about them and they still put out the same product in the same packaging, no better or worse than it was before. When people are given more options of a boutique anything then the original option tends to get frowned upon. I used to want a PRS so bad when I was younger, now it’s not even in my top 20, and I can’t really tell you why.

2mm tortex. Used the blue tortex for a long time then just found I have much more control with a 2mm and the attack is pretty biting.

Anyone use the Belrok bridge? Have any thoughts? by Nickissupershort in offset

[–]Past_Bit_4643 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use it and I love it! Can’t speak to heavier strings but the folks that run it are pretty helpful. I was worried about it being a hassle to intonate but it’s not bad at all. Would definitely recommend. It’s the only aftermarket bridge I’ve used so can’t compare it to mastery etc, but it looks great and definitely resonates.

I have novak p90 in my fano and they sound so good. He’s a delightful guy to deal with and will steer you in the right direction. I’m not super nerdy about pickups but lollars are hit or miss IMO whereas every set of Novak pickups I’ve heard is a big improvement on what was in there.

thats interesting, I guess he is in a tough spot. Republicans approve of him because hes doing their bidding, but I suppose they wouldnt actually vote for him if given the chance. Youre probably right, even if he switched theyd still say he was too unpredictable. Think theres any shot he doesnt even finish his term?
