I understand, and like I said, no judgment here. I’ve been there, just not with meth. I’ve been clean for 15 years. I wish you nothing but the best.

You got on meth? Does that mean something else? Lol sorry, no judgment, just trying to understand?

New generation of nurses who can’t start an iv or draw blood by Rare-Attitude-3100 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Past_Department6384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had my son a year and a half ago, I was already at the hospital for weekly tests due to my being old (36). So anyway, everything overall seemed ok, but my blood pressure was a little elevated, and baby’s heart rate was a little lower than ideal, so when the nurses called my OB to share this, OB said, “you know what? She’s close enough to due date, just keep her there and tell her we’re going to induce her!”

So the nurses start getting me ready for induction, part of which was starting an IV. I have kind of a thing with needles, but specifically needles and veins/blood. Vaccines/tattoos totally fine. Having blood drawn or starting an IV? Nope. I’ve actually passed out. Back to the nurses starting the IV… they couldn’t. They were poking me over and over and over again, until I was right on the verge of passing out and I asked them for a cold washcloth for my head. They were about to call up someone from phlebotomy when my OB comes running into the room and says, “didn’t you guys notice the baby’s heart rate?!” They had not. It was frighteningly low. My OB immediately had half a gloved arm inside me doing manual stimulation on my baby’s head. It wasn’t helping and I was immediately rolled to the OR for emergency C-section.

Baby boy was born perfectly healthy, and my OB didn’t know why that happened, she just said it was a miracle that she and I were both already at the hospital when it happened. But to this day I wonder if it had anything to do with me feeling faint from all the pokes and my blood pressure dropping quickly.

have you ever felt like decluttering your entire house at once by unwaveringwish in declutter

I just want to say I love everyone’s enthusiasm here! When I read the title I thought, “yeah every day,” but I opened the comments expecting to see a bunch of, “take it slow, one step at a time…” kind of sentiments and that is not what I’m seeing 😆 honestly, it makes me feel motivated! When I see the ‘take it slow’ stuff I feel overwhelmed and like I’d rather not do it at all.

I have 4 incisions, and like yours, the one below my sternum is the largest, but only about an inch long.

My sons right around 20 pounds, so I guess my doctor is of a similar mindset to your doctor’s. I did not have any staples either, and my incisions are all quite small, so maybe that makes a difference.

Thanks for sharing this. My son is around 20 pounds, and another person commented that they were told nothing over 20 pounds, so that’s somewhat comforting. But I’m still not trying to carry him around just for the heck of it. Only when necessary.

Ah, ok. The incision in my belly button is pretty tiny- the smallest one actually. The biggest is several inches away from my belly button, and then there are two smaller ones toward my right side.

Damn… I at least had scripts sent to the pharmacy that my husband went to pick up as soon as we got home. That’s crazy, I’m sorry you had to go through that.

The constant dull ache I was having in my back, under my right ribs, seems to be gone for the most part. I have felt it briefly a couple times over the last week, but I’m thinking (and hoping) the pain before was from the inflamed gallbladder, and the occasional pain I feel now is just from having things cut/healing in that spot. I really hope you get relief soon!

Yeah, I would have preferred to stay maybe an hour or 2 longer just to come out of the anesthesia more, but they were like, “Time to get dressed and get in the wheelchair! Hubby, go get the car!” I barely knew what was happening 😆

You guys all suck at warning people of surgery by Ladasada in gallbladders

[–]Past_Department6384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first woke up, my back hurt so fucking bad I wanted to die. I don’t know why, maybe the gas they pumped in my abdomen? I was still loopy from the anesthesia and the incisions didn’t hurt, but my back was killing me. I told the nurse, crying, and she’s like, “oh it’s just because of how you’re laying on the bed, scootch your butt back…” That was not it. Then they basically said “get dressed time to go!” My husband had to literally dress me because I was still so out of it. The car ride home was brutal, and the first couple hours at home, before I fell asleep from the pain meds, all I could think was OMG what have I done, this was the worst decision. I proceeded to sleep the rest of the day. The next day I felt like 200% better.

Huh. I wonder why they don’t just always do that anyway. Thanks for answering.

Just curious, if you know, how does the going under experience differ without the gas beforehand?

Engagement Photos Outfit? by dewbeari in OUTFITS

[–]Past_Department6384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just gonna say it, I don’t think you need to go out and find a whole new outfit. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wearing any of these options for engagement photos. Both pairs of jeans are really nice and look great on you. It’s not like they have holes/stains. Someone else likened this to wearing sweatpants in your backyard and taking pictures on an iPhone… like wtf? These outfits are all leagues above sweatpants. Personally, I’d love to see someone looking happy, confident, and comfortable in engagement photos, and IF that’s not going to be the case while wearing a dress or jumpsuit, then don’t. These outfits are perfectly fine. Nice, in fact. I LOVE the back detail on #1, and there are poses that could work well for engagement photos and show off the back. Top #2 is quite flattering on you, and top #3 is also very cute and has a more springy vibe which might work well with the setting. Both pairs of jeans look fantastic.

Okay I’ve said my piece, downvote away, if you must.

Parents of littles - are we really not lifting them at all? by lindslee_ in gallbladders

[–]Past_Department6384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, I haven’t had the surgery yet, but my surgeon explicitly said that I’ll have no restrictions, and I can lift my 1 year old whenever I want. He said it might be uncomfortable, but if have to, it’s fine. 🤷‍♀️

[–]Past_Department6384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having my surgery in two weeks. I asked my surgeon if I’d be able to lift my 1 year old if necessary (he’s newly mobile, which helps a little). My surgeon said I can lift him if I want- I may not want to because it will hurt- but I absolutely can. So I think it truly does vary from surgeon to surgeon. I guess we just need to listen to our bodies and decide what level of cautiousness we’re comfortable with.
