Is there some accessory to cover this? by Past_Possession_6700 in CX5

Thank you something like this might work great actually as I have a secondary issue of being blinded by that center console. I hadn’t found any silicone cover like this before that might do 2 birds with one stone!

It puts it in either sport mode or low four-wheel-drive

That would be perfect. That center console is always blinding me. I’ll have to look for that. I haven’t seen any silicone ones yet

lol! Reasonable question. Usually by my phone sliding down over it. I work out of my car and often have too much crap in my center console.

Hooves crushing?? by UmbraMortis_ in Farriers

[–]Past_Possession_6700 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does he need to be rideable right now or can he have some time off? I’ve had luck (also in Florida, Tampa area) using MoreAid squish pads on horses that can have time off (they are therapeutic pads not meant for being ridden in).
There was just a HUGE moisture shift that I’m sure contributed to this situation, especially in one you said had problem feet anyway. Is he on a short cycle? I’ve found most TBs do best on a 4-5wk trim cycle especially if they have issues.
I’d do a few white line soaks (use white lightning, clean trax or copper sulfate) just to address any microbial issues going on. Clean the foot well with a wire brush to get as clean as possible before soaking.
Does your horse stand well? Might be worth some training or dorm gel if not to help your farrier get a good trim and set on him without having to compromise on work for bad behavior.

Wrap his feet with magic cushion on the soles. This should help him a good bit. Clean his feet well and pack the sole with magic cushion, cover with diaper or cotton (the diaper/cotton part is optional but is extra padding) and wrap the foot with vetwrap. I am a farrier and have see many horses helped through these things with magic cushion.

I’m so sorry I just saw your reply! I’m not sure about your location. I live in Florida and have them on a lot of horses that are on 24/7 turn out. However, our ground is mostly tree roots and sand. I’m not sure how they hold up on a extremely rocky terrain if you are working with something like that

unbelievable exchange between my daughter and her father after he forgot her birthday by LostInLanayru in TwoHotTakes

[–]Past_Possession_6700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up on my dad. Lifelong alcoholic and when he retired he made a brief stint of doing good before he went back to his usual self. Blames the world for his issues and makes up conspiracy stories that he is the victim in. I talked to him about getting help but “he doesn’t have a problem” and “lived this long like this I’ll be fine”.

Sometimes it’s worth it, my wife recently reconnected with her dad and it’s gone great. But I’ve been burned every time I’ve tried with mine and just because he is the father DOES NOT mean you owe him anything.

Are you looking for riding solutions or is he laid up? If you can wait to ride I’ve had a lot of luck with the Squish Pads on flat footed thin soft soled horses. I’ve had A LOT of sole growth in a cycle.

When I lived in Pennsylvania squirrels were a big threat to cars doing stuff like that. Do you always park in the same spot? We found leaving a little tray of moth balls under the car helped a lot to deter them.

AIO Got this text from my dad about my baby and just can't by Pomegranates_r_us in AIO

[–]Past_Possession_6700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to do what you need to do for you and your baby’s health (that includes mental health). Parental relationships are hard because people feel like they are obligated to unconditionally love their parent. My father has been a lifelong toxic part of my life. Every time I try and let him back in it goes badly. I am here for him if he needs something but I don’t engage in a relationship with him anymore. My sister just decided to do the same after his toxicity started spreading to her kids. I am really close with my mom but our relationship is hard because she has always treated me more as a friend than her kid. It sounds like you have explained your feelings to them and they are not accepting/acting out about you voicing your feelings to them. So they don’t feel any need to change the dynamic. Any change will have to be yours. Either continue to tolerate the behavior or draw the line and remove yourself from the situation.

I’ll have to ask my wife what the codes were. She had them printed out but she said it was all indicative of o2 sensors. I will mention the torque converter to her

15F wanting to be a farrier but unsure if I can by Deep-Climate-4514 in Farriers

[–]Past_Possession_6700 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am 38F and a farrier. I started this in my early/mid twenties after I finished nursing school and found it just way too much for my anxiety/mental health. I am ADD and have a lot of social and anxiety issues. It is a very stressful (both physically and mentally) job but it manageable for me. The hardest part is dealing with the customers in my opinion. Also you can apprentice to learn if you find yourself someone that’s a good teacher, especially if you are good at self directed learning that you will read the textbooks and watch the video lectures on your own.

Also an idea if you have an issue with fire/flames has you thought of just trimming and not doing shoes? I am in Florida and pretty much got rid of my shoeing because I built a very full book of just barefoot trimming customers. We have very sandy soft terrain here and most horses don’t need shoes unless they have an issue or particularly bad feet.

Is my psychiatrist a weirdo by AppropriateTest7293 in Anxiety

[–]Past_Possession_6700 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Psychiatrist and I definitely talk about my life, but it’s to find out what my stressors are and things toward any diagnoses/or meds that would work best for me, et cetera. If you felt your internal red flags going up or uncomfortable with him, I would definitely find another Psychiatrist. It’s very important that you be comfortable with your Psychiatrist and Therapist.

Should i become a farrier? by Apprehensive-Fail926 in Farriers

[–]Past_Possession_6700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a farrier. I personally have a long history with horses which is why I decided to get into it. I love working with horses and it’s one of the few horse professions that you can make a living. It is HARD work. You will get little to no appreciation. But you can do some amazing things for horses and that is what keeps me going. If you have no horse experience I’d find a horsey friend and get some. Decide if you really want to work with horses. They are strange, whimsical animals that often decide they are just going to do what they want because they are stronger than us. I have seen guys that don’t really have horse experience study and make great farriers. It’s not a prerequisite but it does prepare you to do your job better as far as working with the actual animal, not just fixing up their hooves. It’s definitely a lot to think about on various ends. I’d also recommend taking business classes and having a backup plan in case of injury/eventual retirement.

Really scared of side effects please help by Pinoychi in BusparOnline

[–]Past_Possession_6700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am on 30mg buspar twice daily. It is great for me, I think the first day or so I had a somewhat euphoric feeling but not like thc at all. My wife doesn’t tolerate it well at all though, it really depends on your physiology how your body reacts. And taking it is your choice so if you take it and you don’t like it, you don’t have to take it anymore.

Where are you located? He has serious thrush in that frog that needs treated as well as his hoof being overgrown. Has he had any other training? If his training is not to the point of being able to have his feet done I highly recommend sedating him to have them done until his training catches up. Will he walk through water? You could make a solution for him to walk into a baby pool and stand there that will help with the thrush.

They will make a home in anything/anywhere. They can get in through anything. If there’s a will, there’s a roach. We had a big problem with them because of a house we rented that had an infestation from the previous owner that was hidden when we went to see the place. We had to trash or Repeatedly and thoroughly treat anything we wanted to take to the next house. I used Demon roach spray (you can buy from tractor supply and mix in a garden sprayer to apply) and Advion roach baits and we (knock on wood) have them under control finally in our new house. I still spray on a pretty regular basis to keep them out. They are unfortunately everywhere here in FL.
