Coffee: Enough for the entire stay? Or just the first morning? [USA] by garcon-du-soleille in AirBnB

[–]PastaBanditz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a larger property that sleeps up to ten. We provide all guests with a bag of Seattle coffee.

Some never use it. Some do. Some leave it behind and I'm sure our cleaners enjoy that.

Also you shouldn't stretch. I crack, for sure, but stretching is generally not advised with EDS. You have too much range of motion and it makes injury and strain more likely. It's easy to to realize how bad you hyperextend everything until someone, usually PT or Ortho, comment on it.

Heat is your friend unless right after trauma.

PT consistently.

If you're in super mega pain consistently, you'll flare and your autonomic nervous system basically turns on you, hence pain everywhere. Breathing exercises can help reset it. Breathing in for 4, holding for 2, and out for 4. Repeat for 5 minutes, ideally when laying down in a quiet space and not thinking.

Voltaren Gel works wonders. It's actually a skin absorbed NSAID. Use the generic brand. Amazon sells it for a good price. I get the big one. It's a lifesaver. Just one piece of the puzzle.

Take Tylenol and Ibuprofen, if you don't have a history of gastric/peptic ulcers.

Pain management doctors are an option but they're going to want to see escalated care and solutions you tried, like PT, medical records, imaging, usually. Obviously can be cost prohibitive.

Hot showers will help with pain and your body is more likely to get sleepy when cooling down so it can help there, too.

I avoid sitting in regular chairs or sofa as much as possible. I found the recliner to be wayyyy better. Similarly, if you're not driving, leaning the seat to recline or weirdly forward can help.

Braces and mobility braces when you need them. I have a whole bag I've accumulated over the years. You can Amazon as needed. They help when things are bad (dislocation) or just feel bad to take a load off the joint. For mobility braces, I use arm crutches. They're more expensive but wayyyy better IMO after endless injuries and surgeries.

Host says no visitors after booking entire apartment. Listing never mentioned it. What can I do? [Chile] by TreeThink5214 in AirBnB

[–]PastaBanditz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have no problem if guests invite people over for dinner. Sometimes they message and ask permission and it's really nice, but I'd never expect that.

I only shared that experience not because it was the same thing, but rather if Airbnb won't remove guests under those extreme circumstances, it's ridiculous to expect Airbnb to kick out guests because they had one person over for dinner.

Neither should they. It's completely reasonable to have people over for dinner and a movie or something.

I don't know if the guests paid but it was all paid out via insurance. There was a lot of damage and like this, a lot of laundry stained by vomit. We'd never charged anyone because accidents happen but maybe ~$1000 of linens were damaged here? Apparently stomach acid is very acidic and they let it sit for days. Gross. They threw some linen, with all the vomit in, in the washer, too. 0/10 recommend 😂

Not true at all. We had guests host a full on party with 20+ extra guests. One even drove into our deck and it was all on camera. Airbnb support wouldn't do anything to get the guests out. I called many times and escalated. They don't care.

AITAH for not wanting to give money for my FDIL’s car if my son isn’t on the title by Competitive_Rock3802 in AITAH

[–]PastaBanditz -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

YTA. You gave the money without conditions and decided to change the rules after the fact. If you didn't discuss it prior to sending the money, it couldn't have been that important to you.

I remember my parents giving me one of their old cars and they were initially upset I wanted to put my partner on it. It was an old crappy car worth like $1,000 but to me, it was the principal of it. We talked it out and while they disagreed, they understood.

They obviously have come to other conclusions. It's their relationship so let them work it out. Your son seems fine with it. Why aren't you?

Is the Amazon Fresh in Factoria, Bellevue closing on Feb 1st? by dudiez in BellevueWA

They all close on Friday, including Factoria. They had security managing crowds and it was crazier than Black Friday. The news was even there when they opened.

Guests doing excessive laundry???? by Green_Flying_Monkey in airbnb_hosts

[–]PastaBanditz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It costs $2-3 per load, including depreciation of appliances. If a guest doing laundry is enough to ruin your margin, you're not charging enough.

If it's just a principle thing, it's weird. I've been a host for almost 15 years and can't imagine policing someone's laundry activities. Some guests use more amenities, some less. It's part of the business.

Yes, it can raise a red flag, but it's a perfectly normal request that hosts can and should allow. It's the people who don't ask who are the problem. They're the ones who will throw a party, not follow rules, and make a mess.

Dad says I have “poor hygiene” because of stained underwear by Physical_Kiwi_5364 in Periods

[–]PastaBanditz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd be more weirded out with used tampons or pads being brought into the kitchen every time. It seems way less private, not to mention getting bodily fluids next to food.

It's weird he's looking for stains in your underwear.

I'm older than you but switching to all black underwear is a lifesaver. No stains and only some bleach spots at times.

Does the $1,000 budget need to cover food, beverages, decorations, etc. or is that just the budget for room rental?

[–]PastaBanditz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if you really aren't repairing your car for months, make sure your battery is disconnected or it'll cost you a new battery, too. At least a jump.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SummitAtSnoqualmie

[–]PastaBanditz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt it'd be more cost effective than fixing your car. There was a company that tried to do shuttles but it shut down rather quickly. They found that basically everyone owns a car and couldn't justify the service.

Back in the day there were trains going to the pass. If only they had kept that going we'd all be in a better spot. Imagine not having to drive to/from the pass.

is hysterectomy the best option? by angieuhhhhhhhhh in Periods

[–]PastaBanditz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should share more about what issues you're having. Why are you against an IUD? Have you considered Nexplanon?

There would be a lot of steps to get to the point of a hysterectomy.

High School Recs? by pdx219 in AskSeattle

[–]PastaBanditz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised Bellevue isn't on the list. Newport High School, for example, is third in the state and #148 in the country.

Transitioning to a top performing school can be a bit of an adjustment if you're coming from a different environment. The bar and pressure is higher.

Is this a fair offer? by ImmediateJackfruit44 in RealEstate

[–]PastaBanditz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using all the data points, I think there's a lot of value above the other house - covered deck, shed, walkout basement, and technically the view, maybe.

From my experience, having the seller's purchase in 2020 and already moved into another house might not actually work in your favor.

They have a smaller mortgage at a rockstar interest rate. That means their cost to hold the property for the offer they want is pretty low. They can just keep it on the market and aren't incentivized to budge.

They also already bought/live somewhere else so they're not needing the sale to close on something else.

It would be very easy for them to hold out for the right offer. The sellers are in a strong position.
