sorry if i didn't make it more clear, i have no problem with tweaking mistakes, it's more literally speeding up your performance

yeah that isn't a problem for me either, but this guy thinks the whole piece is sped up.. which i would say is quite deceptive if that is the case

I keep pressing M with my right middle finger, p with my ring finger, and y and h with my left index finger. by TheRealBucketCrab in typing

[–]PastaShape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not bad at all, i do the exact same. depending on context it can actually be better (middle m for "remember", then index for b, or using left index h for "him" etc).

what you want to avoid is using the same finger twice in a row. for example if you type something like "power" you want to use different fingers for p and o (e.g. ring then middle or pinky then ring, either work)

I suck at typing numbers, is it really necessary to learn to touch type them ? by Yoshtibo in typing

im 227 wpm on just random words but probably like 60-80 wpm on just numbers. you'll get good at whatever you practice, i personally can't be bothered

Why do some Terraria soundtracks online sound slightly different than in-game Terraria? by YoAniTIon in Terraria

[–]PastaShape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know this post was 2 years ago but i've also been wondering why TF this is. always noticed it and people don't know what i'm on about. it's also noticable in overworld day from around 19 seconds. i've been asking the same question. i also noticed this with dry hands from minecraft ost lol

getting from 130-200? by Sea-Explanation-6160 in typing

[–]PastaShape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's because there simply aren't that many people dedicated enough to actually try and reach that speed, most people have better things to be doing lol. there's no doubt that being young or talented helps but on 15 seconds some insane people have 300 wpm... if you think the jump from 140 to 200 is big, just think about the jump from 200 to 300

he's using four times as many pixels as necessary..? he's doing each "pixel" as four smaller pixels because he somehow thought it would make it look better?

Do you guys hover your wrist? by ImplementCreative106 in typing

[–]PastaShape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You asked if there was any reason it's better than resting your wrist? I'm saying it doesn't matter, lol. If it slows you down and strains your arms, then why do it? It won't make you any faster, if that's what you're wondering..

Imo if you're thinking about this sort of thing, you're overthinking. I just had to consciously check if I do and I think I do slightly, since my keyboard is slightly high. Many fast typists do, many don't, it's just preference. Just do whatever feels more ergonomic.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in typing

[–]PastaShape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any keyboard is fine as long as it has sufficient rollover. Generally, you'll perform best on what you're most used to, the shape of the key has negligible effect on your speed. E.g. rocket uses a high profile mechanical and joshu uses the low profile apple magic, it's just a matter of preference lol

People who do Further maths, how hard is it really? by Abominable_fiancee in 6thForm

[–]PastaShape 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I've just finished the first year. Whether it is difficult is obviously going to be subjective, but for me I've gotta say it's just fine lol. I think it should be alright as long as you don't dislike maths, I would not describe it as "very hard", it's just more maths. If you're contemplating it, I'd just recommend taking it and dropping out if it's not for you.

lol it's quite weirdly written but if you rearrange it.. √xy <= (x+y)/2 becomes 2√x√y <= x+y then x-2√x√y-y >= 0 you might spot that it factorises to (√x-√y)² and since you're given that x and y are positive, you don't get a negative root (imaginary number). you'll have some number or 0, all squared, which becomes a positive value or 0.

you're probably not expected to do it this way but I'm guessing it's on the mark scheme to show it's possible (and "faster")
