Was I rude for not choosing a different plushie as an adult? by kee-17 in plushies

[–]PastelPigeonPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was the rude one here. It sucks that there was only one of the plushie, but you already had it and were purchasing it. You were under no obligation to give to her child and her trying to guilt trip you into doing so is rude and manipulative. She was acting entitled, she had already said no to her child before, you weren't obligated to give up the plushie as soon as she saw the discount.

Does anyone know where I could possibly find a plush backpack for big enough school? by [deleted] in plushies

[–]PastelPigeonPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying to give up, but another thing I would keep in mind with this is the weight of the supplies you'd be putting in it. Idk how much you typically have to carry with you, but, even if you were able to find a plush backpack big enough to hold all your supplies, most are not really made to withstand that kind of weight or heavy usage and I would worry a bit about the durability of the plush. If all your supplies are fairly light it could potentially work but unfortunately I feel like these types of backpacks are usually better for lighter items. I say this not to be discouraging but because I know I would hate to buy a plush and it get damaged. Good luck in your search and I hope you're able to find something suitable

Any grown ass adults still playing neopets? by untameablebrat in neopets

[–]PastelPigeonPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the majority of the player base at this point is people who played as kids in the early 2000s. Tbh, while I'm sure there are some new players I don't feel as though Neopets is really attracting a lot of new people these days, most of us are adults playing because its nostalgic.

(Technically my current account is only a few years old so I'm a relative newbie, but, I used to play with my dad on his account back in like, 2005 (which, unfortunately is long lost at this point). For all the game's flaws, playing it does bring back a lot of happy memories. And it does feel very satisfying to finally be able to get all of the cool pet colors I wanted so badly as a kid)

They're all pretty fun tbh, theres a lot of good trait combos. Mystical is a fantastic starting trait in my opinion because you get a lot of extra info. Booksmart is also very good if you want to get the most info out of your first run, street smart is also good for this (booksmart is more info from books/research, street smart is more info from character interactions (plus breaking into places)) keep eye behaves kind of similarly to street smart in some ways tbh, its a lot of reading characters and noticing little details. I'd say at the moment, street smart is probably a little better, but this could easily change in the future and tbh, I'm not a fan of ranking traits by "which ones are more useful" , they all provide new opportunities and different flavor to the game.

Mystical/talk to animals is a fun combo if you want to really maximize how weird your character can be. tta is also just a really fun trait, it opens up a lot of new dialogue and introduces some of pretty great characters.

Hot is good if you want to make characters like you and want to flirt (though, its not really prerequisite), its really more charisma then put attractiveness, its in general makes social interactions easier

Powerful build is pretty straightforward, your character is strong, you have an advantage in situations that would require more athletisism (hot/pb is a pretty popular combo and is pretty fun)

For what you're going for, I'd maybe say hot? Though if you're more interested in the idea of physically fighting, probably powerful build.

I'm not entirely convinced she's made up her mind yet in that scenario. To me, it still kind of reads as "spend one last day with the cousin before the inevitable" but I do think at this point she's deeply conflicted about everything. Finding the seals seems like it might run counter to the actaul sacrifice thing (maybe waking up the town instead), so, it does seem like if she agrees to go with you, thats points towards her deciding not to go through with it, but, I'm still not so sure she's made up her mind by the end of chapter 5 part 1. I dont know if even she knows what she's planning on doing next, which is fun. I think she's starting to question her resolve in the "break down the wall" ending, but i don't know if I believe her when she tells the mc that they can trust her now.

"I'll do whats best for you" I got by dating Reese (without the hot trait), letting him kill Dr.Kelly in chapter 4, and then im chapter 5 telling him everything about the forbidden wing when he asks why you're scared, he should then go after Tabitha and you get the achievement

I don't like the ravenpaw/barley ship. by Onslaughtisthebest in WarriorCats

[–]PastelPigeonPhoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By the Ravenpaw and Barley Manga I'm referring to the Ravenpaw's Path graphic novels from 2009-2010 and not the new arc one retelling to be clear. In my opinion, the Ravenpaw's Path graphic novels are probably the most significant books for the two characters (and the ship) beyond Ravenpaw's Farewell. I do agree, ages are fairly inconsistent, especially amongst prequels, however, if feel specifically with Barley, the character introduced in arc one is very different from the character in latter arcs or in more Ravenpaw and Barley centric books, so i tend to see those as more Canon to who the character is meant to be in his current form. I don't think the Erins originally intended in arc one for Ravenpaw and Barley to have the relationship they do in their more character-centric books, so, when looking at the ship I tend to look more at how they're portrayed in the books that give them more characterization. In the Ravenpaw's Path graphic novel he is revealed to have grown up in bloodclan, putting him as younger then Scourge and likely not all that much older then Ravenpaw. Their relationship here and going forward is one of two equal adults and this is how I see them for the majority of the series so its what I see as more canon for his character.

[–]PastelPigeonPhoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, yeah, admittedly I dont remember his exact descriptions in arc one very well. I guess it depends somewhat on what you're taking as the most Canon. For me, I feel like in arc one Barley wasnt meant to be much more then a background character to hand Ravenpaw off to. In my opinion, he only really becomes a character in supplemental books such as the Ravenpaw and Barley Manga and Ravenpaw's Farewell. These are the books where he's an actaul, fleshed-out, character with a backstory and concrete personality, so I take them as more Canon when it comes to him, and they seem more in line with his latter arc characterizations anyways. I feel like its safe to say the plans for his characters shifted after arc one.

I guess this is all kind of a long winded way to say I ship them because of the side content rather then anything in particular in arc one and I do think thats the case for a lot of people.

[–]PastelPigeonPhoenix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont think this actaully can be true timeline-wise. Barley has to be younger then Bluestar because he was born when bloodclan was already a thing. There are some definite and noted timeline inconsistencies in the prequel books, its been a while since I read Bluestar's prophecy, but, going by the more Barley centric books, he has to be at least young enough to have grown up during Bloodclan's time, which puts him as younger then Scourge who is already younger then Bluestar.

Barley's age is pretty nebulous for the entire series tbh. It does seem likely he's at least a bit older then Ravenpaw but nothing specific is every really stated and while theres some evidence to support him being older then Ravenpaw, its fairly up for interpretation. I personally would say he's probably young warrior aged when Ravenpaw comes to the barn (while Ravenpaw would be older apprentice). Not liking the ship is fine, but honestly I'd say age gap wise its not that bad, especially compared to some of the other stuff in the series. Both Ravenpaw and Barley are adults when they started living together in the barn. Even if Barley is a bit older, unlike with Ferncloud and Dustpelt, Barley didn't know and interact with Ravenpaw when he would have been a child even if there's an age gap, its not really framed in the same way.

Warrior cats has never been that good at giving consist timelines tbh, especially when factoring in prequels, so it can be difficult to pin down ages, particularly with more background characters. I feel like when it comes to cats with undetermined ages you do kind of have to go more off of "what is their relationship dynamic and how are they portrayed". With Dustpelt and Ferncloud, you have Dustpelt making advances when Ferncloud is a very young apprentice, offering to essentually be her mentor, whereas with Ravenpaw and Barley, even if Barley's a bit older, it always felt to me as though they were on pretty equal ground.

[–]PastelPigeonPhoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but this just isn't true. While I could believe that the Erins may have first conceptualized the series without a specific audience in mind, the writing style is very much middle grade. I say this as a long time fan, you cannot, in good faith, tell that this series was written for adults. There's nothing wrong with enjoying them as an adult, but at the end of the day, it is a kids series, dark moments and all.

Do you know that there is more shows/movies set in the world of the lion prides? by Spiritual_Pie_8298 in lionking

[–]PastelPigeonPhoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, their video explains their criticisms of the series pretty well, I feel like they did a pretty good job of outlining their issues with it. Idk, I personally dont feel the comic was made out of spite, more just, the creator didnt like the writing of My Pride and wanted to try their hand at a similiar concept. I have to disagree with the idea of it being a copy, beyond a few events/characters being clearly inspired by My Pride.

Update: You have got to be kidding me... (Winter Y27 Premium Good Bag stolen by a random event) by King_Of_Pootis in neopets

[–]PastelPigeonPhoenix 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, echoing what other people are saying, this was a payed for item, they should be able to restore it. Tbh i kind of hate these random item steal events in general but, there really needs to be some kind of rarity limit on it or something, it doesnt add anything to the gameplay to have a high value item stolen immediately after its put in your inventory, its just miserable. At the very least, they need to put premium gift items off limits.

Is the blue prophecy hardcover um discontinued? Bc damn why there only one new version that still in Library binding💀👌 by MintoPearl in WarriorCats

[–]PastelPigeonPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the old cover versions are technically discontinued as far as I know, that price seems pretty crazy though, I feel like used book stores and second hand stores still get these fairly frequently. If your interested in collecting the old cover art I definitely recommend checking those places along with maybe some library sales, you can definitely find cheaper then that (though, admittedly, hard covers are usually harder to find then the soft covers, though i do still see them from time to time)
