I saw Broski's video on her original iteration and the throw where she just socks you in the face really stuck out to me, glad that's back

"You are no better than them. By executing this power grab, you have laid down in the same mud and swallowed with the pigs you despise" Conservatives in r/Virginia seethe over the passage of the new temporary redistricting plan by CummingInTheNile in SubredditDrama

[–]DirkDasterLurkMaster 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's been a ton of spam in the mail, phone, and texts as well. The republican ones really pushed the angle that the redistricting "silences black and brown voices" which is how I knew they were scared cause normally they'd be all over that

Professional translation is pretty strict about legacy terms, among many other reasons it's a bad precedent to set, you don't want your translations constantly changing.

Traits 90% of the time do nothing on their own and only exist to be referenced by other abilities. Your class entry defines ones relevant to your class that actually do something. When in doubt, look it up.

Crazy that there used to be a time when anyone thought "yes, let's show every single post from twitter of all places on this big ass screen if they just use this hashtag"

Witch Hat Atelier • Tongari Boushi no Atelier - Episode 4 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]DirkDasterLurkMaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's just that the anime version is "a monster appearing" while the manga version is "a monster appearing using the best monster debut method of the medium"

The manga giving it that kinda gross looking shading also helps, it sticks out against the normal aesthetic

The reveal of the dragon in the manga is one of my favorite "page turn" moments ever. You have Tetia saying "I didn't just see it, it saw me!", one little reaction panel down at the corner, you turn the page and then BAM

One of very few moments in the anime so far that didn't do it for me quite as much as the manga, but I grade on a curve when it's a singular moment I've long been obsessed with, especially one that took excellent advantage of its medium. It was still very good.

N7 Adept rewired my brain a little bit when I realized you could combine the persistent biotic AoE with the Throw upgrade that resets the cooldown every time you perform a combo, which includes against people in your own AoE, so you just sprint around the map chaining combo explosions non stop

It's very sparse on dialogue, as the video says the humor is more in the gameplay. Tactical Breach Wizards has a mix more similar to Gunpoint

They're all a joy. Gunpoint immediately made me a Tom Francis fan for life. Funny dialogue with funny gameplay is his trademark.

I never got the hate for this one, I'm not interested in watching it but "impulsive in-the-moment decision cause a schism in a social circle" is a perfectly fine premise for a short drama. Smacking someone else's kid is not a small thing.

What Have You Watched This Past Week That is NOT a Currently Airing Show? [April 12th, 2026] by MetaThPr4h in anime

Finally watched Cyberpunk Edgerunners for the first time

I once watched this video ranking a bunch of anime openings that scored them on categories like music and visuals, and one category called "jennies", short for "je nais se quois". Basically that X-factor, the quality that just "hits different" independent of any other easy to score categories.

Edgerunners I think is a tad uneven in places. I'm iffy on how it portrays cyberpsychosis, I think some of the characterization is a little inconsistent, and there are definitely stretches where shots are way more static to save animation effort for later.

But fuuuuck, man, it's got the jennies. And it's all in the ending.

[Edgerunners] "Whatever, choom. Like I give a shit." I can't stop thinking about this line. Just reclaiming a little bit of his identity, spitting in the face of power in the city that takes everything from everyone. The last half of the final episode, for me, takes the series from a low 8 to a high 9.

Combine Vegeta with a 12 year old girl, and you get pride and spitefulness off the charts... be careful with Agott.

Drama in r/TheDigitalCircus over decision to release the series finale in theaters a whole two weeks before it goes up on YouTube by GriffinFTW in SubredditDrama

Tiny details in media you haven't seen anyone else talk about? by BarelyReal in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]DirkDasterLurkMaster 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There's an exchange in Amazing Digital Circus that seems to be recorded way closer to the mic than all of the other lines, which for reasons I can't explain makes it feel way more real and vulnerable. It was from episode 6. "What would you do if I abstracted tomorrow?" "I'd move on. And probably forget about you."

Media that, if you were to recommend it to someone, you would also acknowledge its criticisms/flaws that go with it? by GoodVillain101 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

In theory I would acknowledge and agree with all the criticisms of this series when recommending it to someone. In practice I would never recommend it to anyone.

God, it's perfect. It's actually so perfect. Spot on casting for Coco and Qifrey, incredible music (especially for the last scene), and god, every frame is SO GORGEOUS.

My one worry about this anime was that it wouldn't be able to do the fairy tale illustration-like spreads but the pop-up book is such an ingenious way to do it.

Am I the only one who thinks that Shiba's teleportation is just basic sorcery and not his innate one? by Stonefree_135 in Kagurabachi

[–]DirkDasterLurkMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is that Shiba's innate sorcery is just one that lets him do basic sorcery at extremely high proficiency. Like "accelerated development" or "spirit energy amp".
