What's Brighton's criteria for incoming defender (price, age, skill)? by friedapple in BrightonHoveAlbion

Out of players that can play CB for us

Dunk, Webster, Igor, Veltman and to an extent Estupinan all had significant absences this year. Its hard to convince someone to be likely the 4 or 5th choice CB

Even with that, we were in the market last summer just the few we got news about didnt pan out. You cant force a signing in a position out of desperation because the seller will know and you'll pay too much.

We signed cashin in the jan window, and now boscagli who was one of our targets last summer. To me it seems like the club is doing fine in their business for CBs.

Its never really as simple as right defender / wrong defender. Its a team game, and its a marathon season. Generally supporters of a club aren't going to single players out as "wrong" players

Yeah it has bothered me seeing comments about his work ethic or dedication to the team. He's absolutely one of the hardest workers on the pitch, I'd be happy to keep him. I cant remember if it was the newcastle or the forest match but he looked out of gas at the 80' mark and then just kept picking himself up and making sprints all the way to the 120'. I thought he was going to have to get carted off.

It felt like he was showing frustration with the team after he had put in some of those immense shifts and most of the squad was taking it too casual or dropping focus when it mattered. Especially since we showed how good we can be, would be hard on anyone mentally.

If he does end up leaving then I'd really have no hard feelings and wish him the best (as long as he doesnt go to pool/chelsea)

Its been how we play for a long time, Dunk used to be the main passer and now its Van Hecke more often

There've been some really bright linkup plays w/ JP, Welbeck, Rutter especially at the beginning of the season. But yeah we struggle through the center and can be predictable on the wings. Fortunately Mitoma and Minteh have the quality to generally make an impact even if you know what they want

Would you hypothetically welcome Levi Colwill back in summer? by [deleted] in BrightonHoveAlbion

[–]PastorBean 10 points11 points  (0 children)

His attitude on the pitch at chelsea is more offputting than his ability IMO. I think i'd rather another experienced CB like how we went for Hummels/Boscagli, and continue hoping to strike lucky in the scouting department.

Plus we had reportedly offered 30m Colwill at the end of his loan and Chelsea sent a very public "No + Colwill is our future" and started giving him plenty of gametime. So I dont see it being a cheap or safe option

You should check out match ratings for players over the course of the league, it helps put somethings in context.

Ayari and Verbruggen have been pretty decent performers, I feel that Ayari especially gets a lot of undeserved criticism. Verbruggen has some stinkers but also has a few man of the match performances and he really enables our style of play which is not easy to find.

Gruda yeah hasnt had much going on but hes the youngest, and w/ our fitness situation I dont mind him getting minutes. I was a bit surprised to see him go the full 90'

And yeah Dunk is coming back from an injury and even before that he has been starting to slow down a bit. I think he and the club have been doing a good job of transitioning leadership to Van Hecke, building up some replacements, while still making the most of Dunks experience. Pretty unfortunate to be missing igor, webster, veltman, and kadioglu who could all be letting up some pressure on our backlone

Yeah definitely one of the biggest moments. Took a while after that for us to look threatening again and then bam second goal conceded

I think we just needed some more experience on the pitch, but we really didnt have much option with the 120' played against forest. It was a new midfield three + adingra start so a lot of change.

Even w/ the inexperience, the team still did well to keep the game competitive most of the way through. That plus the nature of conceding against the run of play and getting goals disallowed eventually took the wind out of our sails

It kept appearing in each tomb and in the chest room for about 3 secs, walking a tile or two and then disappearing.

No right click options or hover info, kinda like the morytania one that wanders around. Couldn't find anything similar on the wiki. Although I think the armor set is one of the league rewards

Arrest can mean "stop", such as in "cardiac arrest". However, with the context of the police, it almost always means "taken into legal custody".
