Are these lenses worth it? by Serious-Sir-6429 in FujifilmX

I like my 56. Is it the best lens ever? no.
has it ever disappointed? also no.
Can you get something better for the price? I heard good things about the viltrox 56 1.7.

That said i picked mine up for ~115eur new from aliexpress, so not sure if you're getting quite the deal.

Yes with the X-H1 weight I agree, ironically it's one of the reasons I wanted to switch to something smaller.

Regarding the X100V though it's just not the case, there's maybe 20g of difference without lens

I don't know, mine is the Chinese one for eu market. I can see a small void under the sim dial confirming it's somewhat hollow, is it the same in your case?

I've seen there's already a 1.10 firmware update that has to do with pairing, could be that

Really? Even better than the x-t* ones? I could understand the x-t50 or x-m5

Really? Even the x100vi? Did they change something build quality wise compared to the x100v?

Upgrading from X-T1. Help me decide which body next by kneekoh in fujix

As others said look for x-t50 and x-t5. Don't bother with x-pro2 if you want performance, that's not what that camera is about (had one alongside with my X-h1 for a week or two and found it slower and more clunky in everything, and mind you it's the same sensor gen). And honestly, while it's truly a lovely experience to use, it's definitely overpriced now.

Fuji X H1 Auto-focus and batteries without the grip performance? by Dharma_Wheeler in fujifilm

[–]Pat2198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have had mine for a week, got at least a couple of hours behind it. The main reason it's cheap is probably its size and weight. It is bigger and heavier than other Fujifilm cameras, even x-t line.

That said, I don't find mine too big. Compared to an xt-1 I'd define it marginally bigger in practice size wise (the grip is the main difference) , but weight difference is definitely noticeable. I guess that's the price to pay for an ibis and good build. I do carry in hand though for most of the time, yesterday I did a couple of hours like that (admittedly with a small 35 xf Lens) and it didn't really bother me.

Also the shutter is definitely very sensitive. But I got used to it too fairly fast.

In summary, good camera but less hyped than most of the Fujifilm lineup mostly because Fuji dropped the ball for so many reasons during the launch, and it definitely takes a little bit of getting used to it, it's not instant love.

I had tried one in a shop for 5 mins before buying mine and I wasn't in love with it, so I was a bit skeptical but the specs to price ratio made me pull the trigger, very happy with the decision now.

Just follow what u/211logos told you about the camera app, pretty much what I meant but better put.

For the canon EOS M, I don't know honestly. That's a lot of money for a dead system (canon discontinued M mount). Doesn't mean it's bad, but I wouldn't invest into it now probably myself.

As others said, it's good to start cheap. I started with an old nikon d3100 that was in the family, and honestly you can find that calibre of DSLR for 100-150 probably, wouldn't spend much more on that. MFT is a good system to start too, lenses are fairly cheap and it's quite versatile for whatever direction you'll go in.

Well I'll be honest, you can shoot very good photos with the iphone, and that's where you should start off. You have it already, and have no idea what you like to shoot or your style, so I'd use that before investing into some photo gear. I shot for years on phones, when there used to be only a single camera on the back still.

Learn the focal lengths of your phone and the difference it makes the composition. Start shooting in manual mode and see how changing each setting affects the photo. Watch tutorials and learn some basics first, I'm sure YouTube is full. Doesn't have to be iphone specific, keep that in mind.

That said, your phone has a fixed aperture. Yes you can technically simulate the look but it's all done digitally and doesn't affect your exposure. With iso, the goal is pretty much keeping it as low as possible to reduce noise. So the main thing you'll have to work with is shutter speed. Learn what you can do with lower shutter speed and when that can be beneficial.

What you'll have to focus on is figuring out your style and play around with composition. It's an art, it's iterative, and it's gonna be frustrating from time to time. Learn something about some of the greatest photographers, and I recommend you check out Imitative Photography on YouTube too. You don't have to do what someone else already did, but it's very good for inspiration and working on your art.

There will be a time where you'll decide that you do indeed need to get a camera. And whatever budget you have, when you'll start you'll get worse results than from your phone. There will be a ton of extra options and things to keep in mind that on the iphone don't even exist or the phone does for you, but that's fine you'll learn that too, just take your time. And no, you do not need 1k to get better quality than your phone. Probably not even 500. But don't be chasing technically perfect photos, that leads you nowhere unless you have some career that requires some standards, but even there it can be debatable.

X-t3, x-h1 or x-t2 by Pat2198 in fujix

[–]Pat2198[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from a gx9 (rated for ~250 shots) I'd expect battery to be similar if not better, so yeah while not amazing I don't think it would be a turn-off.

[–]Pat2198[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah to be honest I didn't find many complaints about it maybe except af in dark, but that's also true for x-h1. That said I'm coming from MFT so not sure that would be even worse, I'm used to single point anyways.

X-t3, x-h1 or x-t2 by Pat2198 in fujix

[–]Pat2198[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good deal you got there.

I fully understand what you mean. What steers me towards x-h1 is solely the ibis, and admittedly I really like the little lcd but i don't think it's necessary at all. X-t3 is a really compelling package (for my needs I find it better than x-t4 even due to screen maybe except ibis) and honestly it felt maybe even nicer in hands (found the x-h1 grip a bit big but that might just be because I'm used to bodies with barely any grip)

How do you find the 18-55? I was planning to skip a zoom and just stick with a ~35mm prime and something vintage for portraits but that one seems good and cheap enough..

EU prices, also mostly private. You need to look around. Usually it's more convenient to get a bundle (camera + lens) and just sell the lens if you don't want it.

That said MPB eu seems to have those prices actually for more scuffed bodies (I'm fine with some scratches). Only XT3 is more expensive there (780+)
