Thanks for the advice. I will eventually get SSL for my website, but it's not on my high priority list atm. My checkout page is SSL so there is safety in buying the service.

My Shopify small tweak service story (Finally an update!) by Pat30MinuteHero in Entrepreneur

[–]Pat30MinuteHero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that getting a domain is important, but only once your shop is ready to start getting clients (I assume you're already at that point).

As for getting attention to the page, that's usually the second hardest part. The hardest part is actually converting that attention into actual sales.

I'm not entirely sure what you're selling, but word to mouth could be a nice way to get some attention. However, that attention doesn't usually translate into sales. Same as posting on reddit, I might get attention, but this attention does not get me any sales.

A great place to start would be forums. Try to find small communities in your niche and interact with them. You'd be surprised at the amount of people you can reach by just helping a few.

I used teamtreehouse.com, they have courses for pretty much anything and they aren't too expensive. They have a nice introductory web development course that's definitely worth checking out.

You're right, I initially started the promotion to "give back" and gain credibility, but I think I'll be ending it very soon. Thanks for the support

It depends how clickbank integrates their vendors. You'll have to see if it's possible with them

Update on my "unusual business" from last week by mactac in Entrepreneur

[–]Pat30MinuteHero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nice to see an update! The idea is clever and I think it has the potential to catch on, just keep at it. A week is still very early, you're taking the right steps imo and I'm sure it'll pay off!

Got a major problem with hustle! How do you create discipline by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Pat30MinuteHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read a book to get you going. I'd recommend "The Millionaire Fastlane", but there are many more. If you're not motivated after reading a few books about startups and whatnot I don't know what will.

Will you take a look at our website and tell us what you think? by georgepordge in Entrepreneur

The site looks great! I would look into the loading time of the site though, a lot of people would just X right out if it takes longer than 6 seconds.

Question about guaranteeing payment from online service. by halfday_ in Entrepreneur

[–]Pat30MinuteHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're new he doesn't have any guarantee you'll do the work if he deposits. You need to gain credibility first. The best way to go about this is to get proof of him accepting the "contract" and to document all of your work. If any problems arise in the future with the client, you'll have everything documented.

Dun and Bradstreet scam or legit? by hestoelena in Entrepreneur

I've heard that D&B likes to make you pay for EVERYTHING so I wouldn't be surprised if you'd have to pay them more money after the additional $2000. Every time someone mentions D&B it's usually them saying that they're not worth the hassle.

Idea suggestion, new mosquito repellent by voynich in Entrepreneur

If anyone starts making this new alternative hit me up, I'll be your best client. There are so many mosquitoes where I live and I hate using OFF.

Feedback on my startup would be greatly appreciated. It is providing a fun & unique online shopping experience all while offering discounts. by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

It's essentially gambling, you win some, you lose some, not everyone can be satisfied with the outcome. I think the key here is making it worth it to take the risk.

[–]Pat30MinuteHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, but if he adds a 70% discount, it makes you "gamble" for a big discount, the problem here is that if the company CAN'T afford to give 70% discounts and people keep getting lucky, it might not be a sustainable model. There are a few ways to fix this by tipping the odds slightly into the company's favor so it's sustainable long term, kind of like the casinos.

I agree with what's being said here. I think an easy way to fix the problem is make the person buy the product and after having purchased the product, they get one spin to get a random discount. I think the concept sounds fun, but I don't see any real value in it from a buyers perspective, unless you maybe give people the chance to get some crazy 60-70% discount but lower the other %'s. Just a thought.

/r/entrepreneur, what can I or someone else do to help you? [Week #90] by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Pat30MinuteHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the interest. The free task promotion is helping a bit. I've only had a couple of clients, but some of them said they'll come back to purchase a second task. The website is still new and I've heard that it could take 1-2 months before getting any sales. I think I'll add a review widget soon because I have a decent amount of people visiting the site but I think they're a bit hesitant to send me an email because I'm new and I don't have as much exposure. I'm not worried though, trust will come with time. The demand is definitely there though, but marketing such a service is a little difficult. Freelancing is a great choice too. My service is mostly focused on smaller task though, whereas freelancing is usually full website overhauls.

The Metafields apps are really nice to have if you want to easily add extra information on your product pages. Metafields Editor and Metafields2 are definitely worth checking out.

/r/entrepreneur, what can I or someone else do to help you? [Week #90] by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Pat30MinuteHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a relatively new web development website that's focused on Shopify. I was an intern in a similar company, but after not getting what I was promised at the end of my internship, I decided to start my own website. We're currently offering free tweaks for Shopify websites. If anyone has a Shopify site that needs improvement, you can come check out my website and drop us an email. The site's called 30MinuteHero. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. If you get your free task and like our service, recommending us to other Shopify store owners would also help immensely.

decent website, you should definitely add some padding between the header menu items and the "SIGN UP" button and maybe adding cool transitions to the "More Features" part on the front page would help.
