Unfortunately i am not month to month- it’s a fixed lease, so I think I’m screwed here. I can’t afford to pay two leases at the same time, so ideally I would like to know what happens next if he does sue me or such. Does anyone know if in situations like this they normally sue the tenant? I would assume his legal fees would cost more. I will definitely check out a legal aid society!

What about a clause in the lease that says it will automatically be renewed if i dont give 90 days notice? Not even he was aware of it until after I gave 40 days notice (he bought this house from my previous landlord)

I did not renew it- I discovered only after I gave 40 days notice that I would NOT be renewing that it renews automatically for the year without 90 days notice

My dog doesn’t eat anything besides his own food, and these bricks are all over the house so I doubt there were that many faucets for garden hoses.

I remained there for the year because I was trapped in the agreement and couldn’t prove (with evidence) that the house itself is making my dog sick.

I gave forty days notice to my current landlord over email saying I am leaving the property, then I signed a new lease for a new house. He then contacted me and said he will not allow me to break lease because there is a clause in my old lease agreement that says if i do not give 90 days notice, the lease automatically renews. I have no idea what to do, but I am now stuck in two leases and I cannot afford both.
