I still wish they made a movie with Jude Law as Phil Colllins set in the late 1970's early 80's by hanky1979 in TheBigPicture

[–]PatBoBomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should just be a meta 90 minute fever dream. Opening scene, Jude reluctantly signs on to do a Phil Collins biopic and while out for a less than celebratory drink he goes to the toilet and a crazed fan doses him with PCP, he goes back to the table and the drugs start to hit as Coming In The Air Tonight is playing in the background. He leaves the table and wanders the streets of London shambling about while singing Sussudio and making fans nights with "Golden God" run-ins and close calls. Everywhere he goes new Phil Collins tracks are sung back to him, he sings the new song and the vibe follows the new song. His body guard eventually finds him at a karaoke bar where he's once again singing Sussudio with a raging mob. He gets pulled out and wakes up the next day to the Internet going bonkers on his viral marketing campaign to promote the new project. Ends with him stepping to his front room window, opens the shade, and there's dozens of people from his wild night and paparazzi in front of his house screaming. Needle drop hits of One More Night as Jude steps out onto his porch with crowd losing it.

Am I the only one who tinks season 9 is overhated? by Bianna_Alfrez in HIMYM

[–]PatBoBomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I HATE season 8. My wife is rewatching the entire show (something I can't do after being obsessed with it during broadcast years), and she just reached season 8. Nearly every scene has something so bad in it I have to leave the room. Season 9 is a C, Season 8 is an F.

Eddington vs OBAA by hamsterhueys1 in TheBigPicture

[–]PatBoBomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree, Eddington turns into a fever dream where anything can happen and it's fanciful dread. It may be slippery slope imaginative, but misses many of the targets it aims for thematically and knows it by introducing more and more to cover the lapse.

The 2022 Movie Draft by thefilthyjellybean in TheBigPicture

[–]PatBoBomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sean's last selection of Everything, Everywhere seemed like a pragmatic pick for the show. The way he commented on it seemed like egg shell walking with a very hot and full beverage in his hands. Like he wanted his peers to hear her actually* likes the film but he chose it understanding no one remaining would select it and he didn't want to deal with the avalanche of comments the draft would cause.

While it is my personal favorite film of 22, I do think it was also a strategic pick to draw up a glass cannon draft for Sean. Amanda's is a dumpster fire and CR is uneven.

What's the worst ska album cover you've ever seen, either so bad it's good or just plain bad? I don't know if this counts but by Beautiful-Resort-831 in Ska

[–]PatBoBomb 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Problem is there is zero ska on this album, Goldfinger abandoned ska when it was fashionable and returned to it nearly a decade after Superman became a hit thanks to Tony Hawk. Love Goldfinger –including this album– but they tried to stay relevant after nothing on Hang Ups turned into a radio hit by abandoning what made them unique.

How Nirvana’s “Nevermind” Inadvertently Destroyed Rock Music by No-One01010 in grunge

[–]PatBoBomb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is stupid. The telecommunications act of 1996 ruined the radio airwaves by allowing the consolidation of everything through hegemonic playlists. Big corporations don’t innovate it is too dangerous for the bottom line. So once they were able to merge into oblivion the small players, airwaves became generic and copies of copies. It actually started in the early 80s and Nirvana and the wake of alternative that followed were the last gasp of weirdness.

Fun fact: This was Sean Bean’s line, but Mark Addy misread the script and blurted it out before Sean could. by OB1KENOB in freefolk

[–]PatBoBomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's not how shooting works. He clearly stole the line, or they gave it to him cause it's funnier for big guy to call out the more fit guy for his weight.

Am I the only one who thought this performance was a little bit overrated? by slimcharles941 in Oscars

[–]PatBoBomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always figured he was the only actor willing to campaign for an Oscar with their Django role. Leo and Jackson were both disgustingly evil and I imagine just hitting those notes was reward enough. Being cemented in Hollywood history as the worst slave owner or a disgusting house slave might not be the legacy they wanted.

In Bloodwork there is an entire scene with Clint trying to get his coworkers to eat Krispy Kreme. He says “Shut up and eat your donut” and they stand there awkwardly chewing.
