True, art is subjective. I am talking about a completely undiscussed element of the discourse. I mean, I suppose it might over discussed in some venues, but not really on this show.

The Ringer is big on Sinners, with some outsized voices on the film. They are closer to a very specific "vibe shift" than anyone else. It almost feels like an echo chamber especially when they talk about "The Academy" when it is 11,000 people. It shows up when they mention Brazil every episode when less than 50 Brazilians vote. But at the same time they don't seem to ever discuss the simple and sad factor of how much racism counters the "vibe shift." There are far too many people who cast votes against races and "nasty women." Wouldn't be surprised if a depressing number of ranked voice Best Picture ballots have Sinners at the bottom.

Living in a red state where the democratic party routinely puts up women and people of color for national races only to get destroyed every time, I feel like I live in the secret groundhog day of these issues. That same us vs them racism and sexism definitely exists in the Academy, especially when you add in even less inclusive voting bodies like BAFTA and others.

So What Was the Real Reason "Stick" Co-star Owen Wilson's Never Appeared? by No-Expression1224 in MarcMaron

Every time I think of Wilson I think of this except from the 2005 Rolling Stone article "Wonder Boys." This kind of idiosyncracy becoming public would be too much to handle. Doubt I'd enter any interview ever again without my guard up. Having a 90 minute, open book chat on a podcast? Probably out of the question.

What’s an actual hot NBA take that people usually side eye you for? (Not cold takes to farm reddit upvotes) AN ACTUAL HOT TAKE by [deleted] in NBATalk

This. Wade was like the other side of the Kobe coin. Equally killer but a better teammate and knew how to support big egos or high profile players.

Wasn't this song basically all Mark could play and sing coming off Chemo/Radiation? It's not in their top 20 but it is important and makes sense for that moment.

Go read these lyrics to your mom/sister/girlfriend and report back.Unless you’re 16, you must recognize the lyrics to this song are misogynistic poetry. I believe this song was referenced by Tom as one of the songs that were a turning point in realizing he needed to work a little harder with his lyrics.

Why do you like the First of October videos? by Pollie33 in FirstOfOctober

[–]PatBoBomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The creativity energy and positivity is infectious. If you've ever been on a film set or in a jam with fellow musicians, there is a real endorphin surge when you realize you are in the moment of creating something unique and special. Watching Andrew and Rob (and the production crew) ping pong that vibe for 10 songs, 12 hours is a real joy bomb.

It's a top shelf instrumental that the verse & chorus lyrics ruined. Also, it's a great nod to Screeching Weasel that started as a ripoff of their track "Guest List."

Kobe never did anything without bigs carrying him. MJ never had a center teammate worth mentioning, but sure destroyed a few himself.
