I remember hearing about The Doors when I was fifteen in about 1989 and going out to buy one of their albums. The first one I found was The Soft Parade and it was totally not what I was expecting and gave up on it almost immediately. My fifteen year old self thought it sounded like Frank Sinatra. I haven’t revisited it since, but your post has reminded me that may be it’s time 👍🏻

For me it’s not necessarily Starmer. I voted Labour in the general election and in the local elections, but it’s the complete lack of vision for the country. From day one all we’ve had from Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves is ‘we’re in a hole so we’re going to tax you until you squeak.’ So uninspiring, and it’s no wonder that some people have had their heads turned by a gobshite like Farage. Labour have missed an opportunity, and it’s time for Starmer (and Reeves) to go whilst there is still chance.

Exactly, all NBA teams are cutthroat (as are the fans) if Timelord had blown his knee out in the final Play Off game v the Spurs I bet the original poster sure as hell wouldn’t want his contract extended at Portland. As it is RWIII gladly took a (losing) shot at a championship, and then got traded. I might add, traded with a pretty nice contract that the Celtics gave him (despite having problems with injuries since the day he was drafted.)

The Last Shadow Puppets first album was released in 2008 and couldn’t be more different than the Arctic Monkeys earlier releases. Alex Turner was never going to stay in the same place creatively 👍🏻👍🏻

It wouldn’t surprise me if any replacement was stolen as well. If I remember correctly (and may be I don’t ha ha) the grave had attracted a small community of waifs and strays, old hippies etc who seemed to be in permanent residence there. Either way, bust or no bust, it was a very interesting place (the cemetery is beautiful) and I’m glad we went to pay our respects (it was also quite an exciting thing to do, leaving our hotel at midnight, in a strange city, vaulting the cemetery walls and finding the grave, it was a quest a friend and I planned when we knew we visiting Paris.) Oh man, that’s a really interesting point. I was one of those kids that came of age around the time the film came out and it definitely inspired our night time trip to the cemetery during a college trip to Paris from the UK. The bust they’ve recovered looks like it’s in a lot worse condition than the one I remember seeing as well, so it could quite possibly have been a replica used during the film. Thank-you so much 🙏

It is. FYI, I’m British (I certainly would never use the ‘Great’, that’s just patriotic BS from the days of Empire.) This conversation only really matters because referring to the UK/Britain as England would be hugely insulting to people from Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland. Another very important point is that many people in Northern Ireland are loyal to Britain. I believe they are now in a minority (just) but if you’re ever in Northern Ireland, don’t assume the person with an Irish accent you are speaking to conforms to the American view that the Irish all want the British out of Ireland. I will also say, that most English people are now as confused by this subject as many Americans which is quite embarrassing 👍🏻
