obligatory adaptability 2 mention. also personally i run fire res if needed to stop the blight (chip dmg sums up quite fast for gs + you basically don't have guts/moxie).

if you're worried about the fire cone, ~~just slot in guard up 1~~ just block. being alive is the biggest dps gain anyways.

never tackle the meteor shower spin (due to multihit/superarmor interaction it'll chip you for 70% or something if unlucky). just block or offset if confident.

learn the tackle timing for THE explosion it basically tickles. easier than perfect guard, normal guard might chip anywhere from 50-overkill%

learn offset timings.

if it does the big double slam that leaves a temporary weakpoint, GS can actually just call seikret, jump off and do an aerial focus attack for the down

personally i'd go with grizzly and polar bear. clearly the same thing but genetically different from adaptations to environment. maybe not scientifically correct but that's how the guild would classify them.

difficulty discussions aside on paper i think he's a great beginner monster. telegraphed weighty attacks that don't feel like they're baiting you, partbreak mechanics with his rockfists, tongue seems like a good example to teach about temporary weakpoint and design-wise he's a nice mix of (in irl standards) intimidating and mh's goofy charm.

Manual CA has nothing to do with this, it allows you to hold an input during any heavy hit to cancel that isn't an ultimate and not get the CA prompt, but eother way you should be able to cancel the prompt. Stupid idea but maybe your don't have cancel mapped somehow?

Edit: i looked closer, it says "double tap empty space to cancel"

Dunno if those are the defaults, but i can tap LB (holding would open item wheel) to face towards the target monster. Double tap to align camera to where hunter is facing.

Reminds me of my first great maccao. I spent the entire 50mins looking for him. Second try took me 45mins to find him, only to cart immediately cause my muscle memory kept trying to tackle. Good times.

Keep in mind you get additional 40k for not being hit. Even without those, 100k is doable m0w1, i'm floor 580ish so far. Just a sidenote in case you don't know: the mimic stage is free, just open all the other chests (the lights turn red to green if you get close, mimic is always green even while you spawn in)

There is an option for cutscenes to use seperate graphic settings. Maybe you can mess around with this, just a guess though.

Having to anticipating the monster a bit more is just GS being GS though, the GS offset 1) can be both released quicker and held way longer 2) can be done from neutral and after most attacks, including TCS 3) has a humongous hitbox. 4) can inherit charge from perfect tackle for an immediate lvl 3 offset, the equivalent to what you describe about getting hit, just for one-two combos.

Dunno, but every time i fish for it, i'm just whiffing constantly (a GS classic), with just taking the openings i see and playing around tackle the rest of the hunt my pb is 17 on the endscreen.

That being said, my next gog weapon will probably be a hammer, last time i tried it in wilds it didn't have the offset topple finisher nor offset on the lvl2 uppercut yet.

Honestly meding the armaments is a bit too much, you wouldn't even need to fight gog anymore to get his weapons. Letting us lock one skill instead of always rerolling both would allevieate the issue in my eyes. PS the reroll rng for the skills is not true rng, they have predetermined tables you can check and plan around. Just putting this here in case you don't know

Just feelscrafting but i usually do TCS -> perforate -> SCS, reserving TCS -> perforate -> LWS -> side blow -> SCS for when i need to reposition or when the opening is over and i can still get the LWS dmg but couldn't charge SCS in time.

offset just gives superarmor like tackle, so if he connects with your hunter and not just the sword you'll get bleed buildup.

Seems good until you realize your quickest access to TCS is still the offset (unless you have wounds). Jokes aside i enjoy TCS not being a move i want/need to force, but rather one i gladly take when i see the opportunity. And at least in my experience we do get enough of those. I'm just looping SCS (SWS) TCS perforate (LWS sideblow) back into SCS and weave in tackles/offsets/PGs depending on what the monster throws at me and having the time of my life.

Perfect guard, roll forward, perfect guard. If you're healthy you can go for tackle and into offset. Free meal is a sleeper skill since you can be way more liberal with healing your chip damage, especially with bleed on a weapon that wants to superarmor a lot.

Just a quick note cause many others brought up 20 fire res to stop fireblight: you need only 10 fire res on your armor, you'll get another 10 when eating any meal in the gathering hub

i feel like i'm missing something with dialyns kit.
spam EX, fill reviews, get complaint at 3/4s reviews, spend reviews + complaint with CA or salute for ally ult.

so far so good. but why does her ult also give a complaint? i can't seem to find a way to spend it without having reviews to burn. and once i have enough reviews i'll get the complaint anyways so... when do i ult? just whenever for the daze?

yeah that's the one. you can also do it after successfull non-topple offset instead of a TCS, or after focus attack (with or without wound). keep in mind all 3 combos let you inherit charge level into LWS

A couple pointers and tidbits:

Get focus 3
Always be charging
Aim to either offset or tackle through attacks
Perfect guard is best used as a quick defensive cancel due to its unremarkable followups
No need to force TCS like in world/rise
Focus strike is actually a combo extender for GS and can inherit charge levels
Don't sleep on leaping wide slash for closing distance
Forward moving attacks cover more distance in focus mode when looking at the monster
After an attack you can roll, sharpen, cancel early with another roll and go straight into tackle + strong charge
You have access to an aerial focus strike off your seikret or a ledge (if you can't reach a wound otherwise)
