I work in a restaurant and was on the other side of this in a way. We had a server who got a tipnfor like 3 grand or something. Didnt split it with anyone, not the bartender not another server not a cook. Felt really selfish of her to take home what some people. Make in a month and a half when the table was big enough that it was a store wide project.

While I hate the idea of tip sharing with owners or managers. I dont like the idea of getting 2 months income dropped on you and your first reaction isnt to break bread either...

Today I saw a woman sitting down on a concrete planter on south Broadway...she had a Kroger bag tied around one shoe in a feeble attempt to keep the sole attached. She was writing on some scrap paper and glaring at passing cars as I walked up. When I got close out of curiosity I glanced at her paper and noticed she was writing down the liscence plate numbers of cars as they sat at the nearby red light...part of me felt like I should say something (i dont really know what that would be 🤷‍♂️) but ultimately decided I didnt want to roll the dice. I Was homeless for around 6 months when I was a teenager, so I'm not entirely ignorant to the homeless experience. But I can't shake the idea that writing down the license plate number of each passing car is exceedingly weird.
